With all that real estate on the roof you’d think they’d be equipped with some manner of solar panel to catch some sun too to top off the batteries whenever its under the sun, yes? Coz it’s kinda lame to see cars in the near future become all-electrified but has yet to figure out “wireless charging.”

nice video. However OPD can be tied to the user profile (and those can be tied to the car keys) so you dont have to switch OPD on and off manually for 2 different users.

I have another tip for the EX30. When you’re driving and approaching a crossing, if a car behind you gets too close, it may trigger the pop-up notification on your screen. This pop-up can block part of the navigation view, making it quite annoying when you’re trying to figure out where to go. To remove the pop-up, simply swipe it to the left. It took me a long time to understand why sometimes the pop up would disappear when I tapped on it and why not. It will only disappear when you swipe to the left.

A practical tip: Buy an other car!

A practical tip that a colleague of mine from EX30 told me. If you usually use OPD for driving, but at some point you have to be more careful when manoeuvring (difficult parking for example), the OPD is not your best friend. Having to remove it and put it back in the menu is tedious, so the easiest way to do this manoeuvre is to simply release the seat belt with the brake pressed and the OPD will automatically be disabled. Then when you start to unpark again, you can do this manoeuvre with the seat belt off, and when you start to move, put the seat belt back on, so you dont need to go back and forth enabling and disabling OPD in the city. It is easy and is allowed by traffic regulations to do it during parking manoeuvres. (At least in Spain)

Most important TIP: DON’T BUY THE EX30 (yet); the EX30 still has a lot of unresolved problems and features that were promised by Volvo but are simply not implemented or working yet. Software updates are rare and where these solve some problems they also introduced new problems several times. I received my Volvo EX30 on May 1st 2024; but problems are still not solved. No active communication by Volvo on problems that they are going to fix in (OTA) software updates. P.S. I also own a Volvo XC60 T6; on that car everything just simply works.

One-pedal steering is great. It's good that the function can be set to a button on the steering wheel. It's a shame that the car can't show whether the one-pedal function is on or off.

Don't you use separate profiles for you and your girlfriend? If you do, does it mean that customizable button settings are "car settings", not "per profile settings"? Also if you use separate profiles, does switching to a second profile and then back to the owner profile automatically restore the driver seat position? EX90 owners complain that driver seat position automatically restores for all profiles but the owner profile ...

these two cars and the smart #1 are technically the same so depends on which look you like better. IMO the smart looks best particularly the interior where mercedes influence is strong, looks more like a real car, with its raised center console, instrument cluster steerin wheel etc. Volvo is way too minimal (aka cost cutting) and Zeekr a bit too weird toy for me with those weird steering wheel buttons, screen on pilar b and electric door release

Hi Thom, Handy video! By the way, I just found out that you can only navigate to a friend via voice control, for example “Tim” if you have first added a “label” to an address. Suppose I have the screen with the apps in the middle screen by default. I enter a destination via google. Then the middle screen automatically switches to navigation. But in the cockpit I can already see that. How do I get the middle screen back to the mode with all apps with a voice command?
