    Thom when do you think the XC60 is going to take a facelift as well? 2025 or 2026?

    • @thom-lov
      @thom-lov  Місяць тому +2

      Looking at EX30-CC and ES90 to come first, I'd say in 2026 (announched) something will succeed the current gen XC60.

    I hope Volvo will come with bigger battery-pack even for the uppgraded XC60 next year. I would lovet to se a Electric range of at least 120-160 km and faster charging 10-80% within 20-30 minutes.
    Volkswagen has these capabilities in the new VW Tiguan an VW Passat.
    So I expect Volvo to be able to fix this also.
    I drive XC60 T6 AWD 2024. Its a great car but faster charging and longer electric range would be perfect.
    Thanks Thom for all your good reviews!
    /Olle from Sweden. 😊

      I think with the current setup they simply found sweet spot. I am able to achieve 80-90 km without any specific eco driving. More range would mean bigger battery so much heavier car so I wouldn’t expect that change without changing shape of the body. Regarding faster charging, you are right that might be useful but on the other hand slower charging is way better for battery health.

    I'm also hopeful that there will be a new battery. I recently bought an S60 Recharge and love it. The 90 is too large for me, but if they put this extended range battery in a 60 or 40 (we don't get a plug-in hybrid 40 in the US, but I'm hopeful that we will now that Volvo seems to be backing away from going full EV by 2030), I would absolutely buy one.

      Awesome! I did see a lot EX90’s in Torslanda (inside the gates) some weeks ago when I was there. Perhaps those are now driving around town. Or maybe the first customer cars!

    The problem with PHEVs is that they rarely get plugged in. This is a big, big problem and I hope Volvo has reconfigured drivetrain to have a much larger pack and reduce ICE power plant capabilities to discourage gas burning all the time.

    • @Fab84NL
      @Fab84NL Місяць тому

      Think this realy depends on the owner. I have a phev and I plug it in several times a week! On a 40L fuel tank I get about 1500km

    • @barryw9473

      Multiple studies have shown most PHEVs drivers do not plug in car. Of course there are some who do, but when most do not, PHEVs can pollute more than hybrids.

    Thats great - and business sensible - news 👍🇸🇪 Always wondered, if the current EV platforms, could also be configured as a hybrid.... or have they placed "all their eggs in one basket", in regards to going full EV...

    • @thom-lov
      @thom-lov  Місяць тому +1

      I think that 'new development' wise their focus is on EV's. Updating this XC90 is just to fill the current gap (prevent loss of customers) that could be due to the EX90.

    I’ve become annoyed with all the software issues. My 23 c40 ran for a year with no issues. Then something happened and the software is really glitchy. The dealer cannot replicate the issues. The LTE stops working . No gps. The charge limit page is dimmed out so you cannot set the limits. It defaults to 80. I’ve shown them pictures so they know I’m not making this up. They update the software and give it back to me only for it to last 24 hours and it stops again. The reset is to hold in the defrost button. That doesn’t work either. No reset on mine. I’m strongly thinking about ending it with Volvo after 4 cars from them . The tech is just no longer there compared to the huge screens over at bmw Cadillac and Mercedes. The new MINI countryman JCW is a looker. With bmw tech all over it and quirky MINI skin. I dunno.

      What amazes me most, from a company that supposedly prioritizes efficiency and environment, “energy distribution using maps data” doesn’t work in my 2023 S60, where it worked perfectly in my 2022 S60. Extremely disappointing, going backwards, as is the phone app, it’s not remotely comparable to last year’s phone app.
      I am in Pennsylvania. My first Volvo was a 544. Geely is wasting six decades of Goodwill.

    Any news on the EX60? Is the xc60 going away next year? Volvo cars is now pushing massively these black edition, fully loaded versions of the XC60 (both mild hybrids B5 and phev T6&T8). It feels a lot like a “last edition “ move..

    Hi Thom, thanks for your video, this is very exciting! Do you have any insight or experience into when this new facelifted XC90 might start its production and possibly be delivered to customers? I am asking because I have an order for a MY25 XC90 Recharge scheduled to be delivered in the beginning of October. I know that is too early for the facelifted version but curious whether it would be worth it to cancel the order and wait for the updated version.
