Looks much better to me in many details than EX90 tbh... 4 separate buttons for door windows. Clear buttons on the steering wheel, with more functions. Opening sunroof (with sunshade I believe?) Sunshades on back doors. Oh and I love carpets in the boot, especially how nicely they cover folded 3rd row seats!
Meh PHEV are a garbage platform. Volvo need to just go full Petrol and full electric. The T6 platform is the absolute best. They should have perfected it even more. Upgraded clutch on the supercharger refined motor with high HP better fuel mileage. All electric EX90 right now is honestly trash. Far to expensive and the range is terrible. My 2016 T6 is phenomenal. I’ll drive a 8hr 500mile trip without stopping for gas once and have 120mile range after. America is far too large for electric and PHEV. It’s for cities only and small communities. TALK TO VOLVO AND TELL THEM TO BRING BACK THE T6 FOR USA MARKET.
As a C40 owner (love it by the way and my local dealer), looking forward to when Volvo gives the EX40/EC40's interior a facelift similar to the EX90 and EX30. It's also too bad they haven't converted the EX60 into an EV. I think in North America that would be a more ideal size. The EX90 is just a little too large for my taste. The EX60 I think is one of their best looking cars as well. I would definitely buy another EC40/C40 (or future EX60). Definitely never going back to ICE. The charging infrastructure in the U.S. is just getting better and better, including the fact we have access to the Tesla supercharging network.
I've always appreciated Volvos, from the old boxy wagons to their sleek new designs. The XC90, even with its small sporty shape, is surprisingly roomy and feels less claustrophobic compared to other brands like Mazda, Audi, etc. One feature I really praise in Volvo is their second-row seat design, which is somewhat split into three individual seats. I love this because it gives the driver the option to fold down the center seat backrest (needs build in cup holders), offering the comfort of captain's chairs without sacrificing an extra seat. In my opinion, captain's chairs often defeat the purpose of buying a 3rd-row SUV, which is primarily for hauling people. Would I ever purchase a Volvo? I would, if I had a Volvo dealership in town. Most shops around here won't touch them, so it can be very scary when you put all that money into purchasing a Volvo and your closest shop is 2 to 4 hours away.
@10Filip I had an electric Ford Mach-E previously. I now have an XC90 (2022). A bigger battery (≈40kW like Range Rover Sport PHEV) would greatly benefit from DC fast charging imo. An electric range of 15-20 km would make even medium distance traveling in pure electric mode attractive. Those distances far from home (AC) require charging stations.
@@TheCJUN So DC is better because it's faster - I assume to avoid the AC/DC conversion and power loss. Bigger battery I get, the only problem is that at least xc60 has already a small boot, even smaller would be problematic. Not sure how it is in XC90
@10Filip When going further with bigger battery (higher capacity), you generally lack access to AC charging. I have the T8, and the battery is placed in the middle where the driveshaft were placed in the ICE models. There is no/little impact on trunk volume.
Thanks for the review! You metnioned, that the range is claimed as 74km, but 50km only on the highway. I don't understand how it is possible to drive in such a wasteful way, because I on my XC60 MY2024 can make around 75km electric only on the highway with the speed around 100-110 km/h and the max of electric range I made so far was 92km electric only.
Most people drive like idiots. Foot flat as fast as possible from one red traffic light to the next pause at a traffic circle, making zero actual faster progress compared to driving more smoothly and economically. So of course their real world range is down on what is projected.
Don’t forget that the XC90 is a heavyweight and absolutely not aerodynamic bus 😂 Getting al that weight in move take a lot of energy for a 145hp e motor
@@thom-lov That's of course yes. But the style of driving plays the most crucial role. With my previous Opel Grandland X 2021, I was easily making 54-58 km in electric range only. And the battery pack is 30% smaller, than on Volvo. For example, when I drive my XC60 on the gas - I never had a consumption higher, than 7.6 l/100. Usually it is 6.8 l/100.
The bezel on the middle screen are way too big. This not portable tablet. There is no need for the bezel for handling. Maybe add psychical button on the bezel?
I ended my lease of the c40 early here in the USA. The charging infrastructure here is awful. I now am back to ICE and the outgoing … but still gorgeous s60. I really hope Volvo isn’t making a fatal error in judgment. All SUV lineup and dwindling ICE options. I get it. Europe is way out front in EV chargers infrastructure, but if Volvo wants to maintain any relevance in America… I’m afraid they are making major mistakes in what people want .. we are so far behind in the US on infrastructure. And not everyone has a home to charge on L2 or plug to a wall. A HUGE segment live in apartments or condos. And while I like the “heavy” update of the XC90… it’s looking its age. I had one of the first 2016 all new XC90. They need an ALL NEW model. Ten years is far too long.if they don’t update the brand .., this s60 will be my last Volvo. I really wanted the all new mini countryman.. but because I was desperate to get out of the c40.. I had to lease another Volvo or get stuck with a big payment to get out of 6 months of lease left

Good review thanks - and great news about the Google Automotive upgrade coming out for our older XC60s
Thanks! It’s nice to see Volvo also think about their current customers 😊
this over the ex90 every single day. good video, suscribed.
Thank you :-)
Great review and loved the shots of the chocolate shop.😄
The chocolates were greaaaat! They finished top 3 for some Scandinavian chocolate competition
I predict/wish/expect/want them to drop a new 90 wagon with the new drive train. T10 V90R or riot.
🙌 🙌 🙌 🇸🇪 🔥

XC90 needs DC charging and a bigger battery imo.
Agreed!
What would DC change? Never charged a car, so maybe you could explain

I thought they stopped using the supercharger? Do they still use it in the United States?
No it just changed from a mechanical clutch driven one to an electric motor driven one.
❤❤❤
don't Volvo offer the wool seats anymore?

The previous face was much better from the in front of the car, i think thisone is more like a toy
Not a fan of the new grill !

I love it
I would love to live in Sweden but I don't want the government to tax 36% of my income to "free healthcare"
then stay where you are
It’s wild that anyone would pay this price when Subaru exists
What’s a subaru? 😋
