Hello from Malaysia! My C40 has vibration issues and it took me 4 trips to the service center to get Volvo Malaysia to approve the repair.
I was told there’s a Technical Journal (TJ) on this vibration issue and Volvo has released revised front axles with different part number.
My repair is scheduled next week, will report back if it fixes the issue

My -23 C40 Twin got fixed, no more vibrations with the new front axles from the front wheel drive C40, they are better/stronger.

I tried a V60 D4 (so not a hybrid) as a loaner car (when my own V60 went through "Volvo surgery"), and found it very impressive. Smooth, torqey and economical. My T6 Recharge is acceptable frugal, but the D4 was in a totally different league in that regard.

Yes, as i said before, can totally agree to tom's explanations bout the v60 Diesel. Love my v60 D4 model year 2019, such a relaxed and smooth car to drive. Recently i had the chance to do the 24h test drive of the EX 30 here in Germany. Have to say its not that bad. Of course it is a very small car, made for only two adults obviously, and the interior's quality is not the luxury kind. But the suspension and driving comfort is quite good. So are the comfy seats in the front. No software problems. Nice to drive even on german Autobahn. Not so good: loading time, high price, the right driver's knee is threatened by the sharp edge of the middle console.
Ive had multiple conversations about this vibration issue. The C40 Recharge isn't the only EV that has it. The XC40 has it as well although i don't know how widespread it is. The cause can be attributed to something all EVs need - dampers. The axel needs a damper but the steering wheel column should have one too. I don't know why this hasn't escalated to being a known issue yet. The only positive is that even with the vibration, it won't cause any issues with the vehicle.
Oh my, this C40 vibration is hilarious. Volvo trying to fix the symptoms instead of the actual problem causing it. I still have my (vibrating) C40 and I frankly gave up on hoping for a solution

Sorry to hear Volvo can’t find root cause of vibration. Have 28,000 miles on my 2023 XC40 Recharge and no vibration.

My 2018 xc40 r design- soooo frustrated… bought it second-hand - vibrating not only in steering wheel, but also seat… highway speeds. They did tyres, highspeed balancing, replaced propshaft and dont know what else…. Tells me it is fixed, it is not! Want to cry!!
My MY2025 EX40 (just took delivery a week ago) showed me a propulsion system error and then a day later, the gear wouldn't shift into neither D nor R. Not exactly off to a great start. :-/
hopefully its fixed soon and you can enjoy the car as it is pretty good 😉
hey, do you think Volvo will ever update XC90? And if yes, will Volvo ever consider a V6 engine? Personally I don't see how they can compete with GLE and X5 with limited power output.

I also have the vibration symptom fix in my XC40. It really changes the vibration and around 100km an hour it vibrates less. But a you say, the steering is nerveus at more different speeds. Really stupid solution.
Yep, overall its a pretty bad 'fix'.
Still have the vibration here too, MY24 xc40 twin plus.
Have you ever noticed that when you loosen up the steering wheel tightener, there’s no vibration.

The US EX30 launch is the biggest secret (unknown) coming from Sweden, ever! lol

I've heard that the firmware 3.1.2 has big issue with MY2024 where the car won't shift into drive. Hope there'll be fix coming soon.
That just happened to me on my MY2025 EX40 on firmware 3.1.2!
@@michael_thiel That's unfortunate. Meanwhile, you might be able to shift if you give at least 30 min gap between each driving session, and sometime the car will actually shift if you use secondary key.
Had an MY22 XC60 B4 diesel before I got an MY24 XC60 T6 Black Edition. The diesel was great on road trip but annoying as a daily commuter - too noisy and rough especially when cold.
I also noted the diesel noise being way louder than the petrol engines, funny how you get used to things so quickly 😊
What is next step about the vibration?
Get rid of the problem and buy a proper Volvo.

@@thom-lov I am -eally like your videos too but i reported it about 3 days after the vibration had them try to fix it they couldn't and agreed to buy it back- a little more complicated than that but
I think diesels are not selling well. Also, push for diesels in EU was for carbon pollution reduction but nitrogen oxide pollution ended up outweighing and benefits from efficiency. EVs are best, no?
Diesels have terrible value here in NL as government pushes PHEV and EV. Not sure if that was the right call as these diesels are just suuuper efficient.. Well well..
I agree with your point. There's no way in hell I would buy a diesel car in 2024. EVs are the future. I think Thom it's just upset about the vibration, and the fact Volvo is not doing a good job about getting this resolved, nor is the EC30 looking great either.
Am so disappointed with my 1 1/2 year old C40, I love the driving experience (mostly) but the infotainment system is beyond awful, I spend most of my time trying to get it to reconnect to the web, even using my phone as a hotspot doesn’t help and every time I reboot the system something else fails, like losing gps) or Spotify locking up. On top of that I regularly have the tailgate either open or close when I don’t want it too. Whoever thought it was a good idea to put an automatic sensor in a car that by design would regularly have cables trailing across the back end for charging should be forced to go round and apologise to every c40 owner in person! Beyond any doubt by far the worst new car I’ve ever had
the tailgate bumped in to me too many times as well when plugging in/out the charging cable, annoying!!
