very very good builder ,hes switched on and my god those alloys are just perfect ,massive respect to the owner /builder ,that roll bar and rear end is tip top
Was expecting to see a twin turbo Rover V8 before you pulled the bonnet up. But a twin turbo 6.2 litre Chev will do haha! Absolute beast. Can't wait to see some drive footage.
I had a SD1 back in the early nintys ,,,loved it ,,also had a classic 2 door range rover,,,and put a 3500SD1 in a Ford capri....but this is on another level,,brilliant..
I fell in love with the SD1 V8 as soon as they came out! I had a total of SEVEN during my lifetime the last one a Vitesse! I wish I could have put a big lump in it! OUTSTANDING BUILD SIR!
I had four of these back in the 90s, most lads my age had Nova's, not me, first car was a 2600s! followed by three V8 VDP's. Always dreamed of doing a Chevy V8 conversion but life, wife and mortgage killed it. This is definitely my lottery win car!
You can’t exactly call this a sleeper with that sound coming out of side pipes. And those wide tires sticking out of the rear fenders with the risk of rubbing against them is something I never like. But I understand the need of the width obviously. The rest of the car is absolutely fantastic! My father bought one new in the early eighties and literally had his first technical problems already when he came home after picking it up from the dealer. Me and my brother were playing with the electric windows and then they refused to close. Unbelievable. During his business trips from the Netherlands to Germany the car broke down several times after which it had to be towed away and his business made fun of him for buying such a car. 😂 Keep up the good work guys 👍🏼
I always liked the SD1 - Ever since I saw Tony Pond slinging the Computervision rally car around the country lanes here in Ireland- He even boiled the power steering fluid That car is just class - so well built and executed ! Labour of love
He must feel like one lucky man knowing he's got that car parked in his garage. What an absolute beauty of a car. Well done and thanks for showing us around.
70 in the left lane, 70 in the right lane = 170 down the middle, thank you officer. A vehicle not be wrapped around a lamp post. I guess a labour of love over a long time so no box section. A couple of folk in the big houses had them, I didn't get close. Red, what a colour. Thanks for that, thanks owner and dad.
In my humble opinion the rover sd1 3500 was one of the most beautiful shapes ever. Always one of my favourite cars. Growing up in the 80’s and seeing them as police cars and the v8 in everything from ambulances to landrovers
Super cool wasn't surprised to see an LS as ain't no rover doin 1000hp, looks like a really good build with a lot of attention on detail, had a sd1 stock car so no opening doors looked bit like Audi sport coupe rally car from early 80s have a few photos if the fella is interested
Nice build, credit to the owner. The manual is a bit of a backward step, very hard to get the power down with a V8 turbo. Though he could have gone with one of our Aussie sequentials. Autos are a better deal with this engine. Yes there are 100s of 1000s of street cars that sound like this, and make Much More horsepower, down here...but Im sure you all know this. You can only dream of what it was like to buy a factory V8 straight off the showroom floor. If you want to see the tough car scene down here, watch Fullboost. Your minds will be blown. Keep it up, more tough cars from blightey thanks!
@@classic_britain the level of knowledge and to retro fit that engine and Toyota rear end.. Takes serious skill set to fab in correctly. So ex Audi VW 15 years know the Score r Turning wrenches. Hats off guys
Brilliant build ! Wow sounds like thunder when throttle blipped , and it looks so standard , amity British Leyland built them , and not Ford ? Hahaha .
That sounds beautiful nice and fruity sound that’s about me on the exhaust. See how loud it is. Most Sheridan you’d get pinched by the police if you drove that round Cornwall mate you would never licence if you drove out loud Cornwall.😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
SD one Rover never as unbelievable Mr Spencer money or not that is nice you wouldn’t think of it just by looking at it you think it’s just a normal favour like did you get out close and you start looking at it and you’re looking inside it now blacked out so we can see and see what’s in there I’m not 😅😅😅😅 😊
Have still got your, fire engine, what about your tractor or the motor bike? What about the hillman hunter or the two steering wheel mini you had? You still got the blue rover one that was rusty as hell. You buy cars and then they disappear off the Chanel for good. Look forward to hearing from you.
It’s mind bending in a car with so much power is what he meant. Which to be honest was quite obvious, but inevitably the UA-cam comment section experts are on hand to dissect his every statement. 😂
Under 5 minutes into the video and guess what - yet another car ruined by an LS transplant. Its not a Rover SD1 its an SC1 Sad Chevy-powered 1. What was wrong with putting in a twin turbo 5 litre Rover V8? Its not trendy and involves having an original thought.
I know alot of people do the LS swap and the main reason is money. To get 1000HP from a Rover V8 is VERY hard and VERY exspensive I know a engine that makes 800HP and it was 30K and it's on the limit the LS will make 1000 all day long!
Sorry I took the video down I forgot to add the picture of the dyno sheet in the video I only lost 100 views hope you guys enjoy!
Oh wonder what happened 😂.

This is my perfect car. Thanks for sharing the video. Brilliant video. I had 4 rover sd1s over the years. All vitesse.
I do like the SD1 had 4 myself but there awful in terms of build quality
Love Skylines but i have always loved SD1's. That is some machine and sounds lovely.
What an excellent job ,and now what a car ! Truly awesome

Very costly car. 1 of the best conversions I ever seen hats off to the old fella and all involved building a great sd1.😊
Yeah it was not cheap but a great build
Wow 😮 what a beast of a Rover, that exhaust note when he revved the motor 👌

Thanks so much!
In the early 90's i knew of a twin turbo V8 manual, incredible performance, but suffered fumes to burn your eyes out when the sunroof was open 😆
I used to have have a Rover SD1, one of my favourite cars, even with its faults.

This engineer is commercially valuable. Surely he should be working in R&D somewhere... perhaps he is.
A Shame we couldn’t see the owner, or discover a little about his background and motivations.

My standard 5 Speed manual has bad enough in the wet. This thing would be uncontrollable with standard back end on.
Yeah out 5 speed SD1 goes well enough and that's stock!

Not raced yet
First time I got a semmie over a UA-cam video 😮

Absolute beast 🔥🔥👌🏻
It sure is!
Is there room for a strut brace, or is it unwanted? Could an undertray pay-off on track, or is road use and the convenience of maintenance preferred?
It's not a full track car but there is not really room for a brace but it's all toyota chassis rails at the front so it's really strong!
Come on September fucking dry up for gods sake I want to see this thing on the road creating new potholes 😂
Mk3 XR3l rear wheel arch sill guards?
Yes
I've been following this build for a while ago and I someone would make a video on it
Yeah next year we will go out in it the weather is just to wet right now
