I worked on these car for victor britain a chauffeur company in London. They were very quick of the line at traffic lights auto boxes love torque. This Hemi v8 4.6 was a serious HP and torque monster. The truth is it produced more power than the jaguars e type engine as the Daimlers dyno maxed out at 225 HP. It was more closer to 300 HP. When fitted in prototype mk 10 the result was astonishing ! So sir Henry Lyon’s said we cannot have a Daimler engine in a jaguar luxury car
I bought a Mk1 Cortina (ex club racer) in 1972 with one of these engines in it! I registered it for the road and used it for a short while with Automatic gearbox, The kick down lever was wired to full throttle! It went like hell. Absolutely diabolical car to drive. The builder was Gerry Dobbins He used to race it in the late 60s, and the car was called Damfraud . 😁

My dad had two Majestic Majors, first one was black, went to the Edinburgh tattoo when I was a lad and got waved straight through to the VIP spots! Also have a vivid memory of him driving down the A1 (two lane) with me in the back and somebody pulled out in front of him, so he drove down the grass central reservation at about 90mph! @@classic_britain Hi, sad lonely idiot here. You remarked many times about how smooth the engine was running when, in fact, it was running like shit. I expect that is why so many have focused on it in the comments.

I bought one of these 40year ago for £100 off a guy in Scarborough who had gone blind and no longer drove, his son used to drive him upto a school play ground to have a little drive, but it had not run for 4 or 5 years. I put some WD 40 down the plug holes the day before I intended to get it towed to Whitby. She's a beast
👍😊
To restore that properly is going to cost an awful lot of money. Likely that the restoration might cost more than its worth. Its only running on 5 cylinders........................lol
Yes the owner is well aware
@classic_britain Has he done much restoration work? It was almost certainly running on 5 cylinders as the plugs had got wet and earthed out.
Removing them and heating with a blow lamp sorts that. It's due to shite modern fuel.
Always better to start things with easy start or brake cleaner as that won't wet the plugs and earth them out.
@@battlebbot that’s because I’m busy and Sheldon. Wanted a running video so no time to go through it I’m fully aware it’s not on all 8!
Think some need to remember on here I’d taken a week off from a busy schedule to accommodate Sheldon help him when i could with ambulance and get cars running
@@andrewhuxley4634 Are you restoring the Daimler? It looks a hell of a job.........
Please, keep the rat out and start treating the leather of seats etc to protect it.
sitting covered why wouldnt it run?
LDV army green stilnon eBay price lowered now
(Not mine i live in Portsmouth)
And don't know the owners
Short MOT
Could get a bargain if your brave enough to ask and make a cheeky offer
85 left in the world only 12 in the UK
She's a rare thing
Where did you get this information from?
How many limousine versions though?
Sounds ike a lack of compression on a cylinder or 2 when cranking.
If you're looking to sell the Range Rover parked in front of the Daimler i know Matt it High Peak Autos is looking for parts for his? 🤔
It a winter work horse just been having bits done for this season
sounds like its running on 7 to me
put some rate kreps on it
A door pull?! You don't close the rear door of one of those from the inside - someone does it for you from the outside!
So the rover V8 does not sound like an american V8 hmm it is actually a buick !!
Yes I know but let's be honest when Rover got it the factory totay re made it there is very little left of the original
Are you on another planet?.....it's not running on 8 cylinders!....I would never get you to look at my car!
Fella read the comments!
Like the one I’ve posted explaining I’m fully aware it’s not on 8
I’d taken a week off a busy schedule to have Sheldon here he wanted to film Daimler it was put battery on fuel and go no time to mess about with it
Glad racers didn’t get it. Whats the difference between this and a DR450?
WE KNOW!
This is a DR-450. @@alantraish3368
@@alantraish3368 This is a DR450.
They weigh 2 1/4 ton.
"Dailmer" in the title.
Carburatori molto complicati se nn revisionati da esperti 😊
That’s not a really healthy engine: when initially turned over on the starter there was a dreadful gallop to it, indicating a cylinder down on compression.
Its so obvious the car is misfiring on the right bank. Unfortunately English people dont know what a V8 is supposed to sound like because they have never had one. And farmer Brown cranking on thats tarter like its a tractor in winter. Bloody hopeless.
Cut to the chase-----there is no such make of car as a DAILMER
NEVER break it sell it to a restore . Pathetic if you do. Also not anywhere near American it's FAR FAR FAR better. RESTORE HER NOW
It's going to be restored relax haha
@classic_britain thank F . Sorry iam a traditionalist old Fart. My old Shadow deserves it too. Thanks mate. 👍 🫂
@@chrisdorrell1 No worries don't forget to subscribe =)
Already am . I am a traditionalist and want all cars to be real /original. I accept brakes and air flow changed only.
Btw good channel. Cheers
@@chrisdorrell1 Thanks for the support glad you like it!
Dailmer?
Daimler's inbred cousin?...come on man
Head gasket is shot
Sounds lovely??
Its only going on 7, possibly 6 cylinders.
Sounds like a piece of shite for one of those engines!
We know it's on 7...........
Buy that use that as a camper
Save it before it gets banger raced
It's not going to be raced it's going to be restored.
Perfect for banger racing.😢
If Chris hadn’t of bought it that’s what would of happened to it
Big Hemi 2.5 litre .....hardly a 425 cu
