LOL Plant Styling Really?? Whatever.............. Just some changes I had to make to my plant arrangement due to plants outgrowing their space. ADDING. After looking at the rail and light hanging over it I kept seeing something off. I measured the rail several times and it was even. Then it hit me it was the hanging light over it. DOH on me. I learned once again to just use a level!!

Trying another camera. I have a lot to learn with this one and so sorry about the bad audio in the beginning. Microphone ordered.. I also forgot to set the anti shake. Hoping my videos will improve as I learn how to work this camera. A silly dog video at the end and me losing my mind on camera at the end just trying to stop the video and talking to myself. Your plants and your home are absolutely stunning! I can tell that SO much thought and care has gone into it all, I hope you are super proud of it! You have excellent taste.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I do enjoy tweaking my house around. I hope to build a couple trunk/box pieces to put under the double west side windows. Still trying to decide if I want to put doors or just leave the fronts open. Right now it is just too cold outside to work in my garage. Supposed to be warmer tomorrow but I might be too busy shoveling snow. LOL Love your user name. Since I am 75 I lived and LOVED the Hippie generation. HA Still living it I never grew out of it. Thanks so much for watching.
January, I’d take the aquarium if i were you… 😚 loved all of it. You’re amazing. I’ve liked and subscribed.
Poor January. I have sent so much stuff off to her. We are both artists with creative minds on over load. Tanks so much for watching.
@@shadesofidaho I’m sure she’s elated!
Do you have any tips for the decursiva? I put mine on a moss pole and it grew an incredibly long, snakey vine which has just decided to grow a leaf at the tippy top of the moss pole…
Curly- I have two orange cats… Paco and Tobin Redwood Wallace the 7th… it’s a long story.
The Silver Bay. One of my least problematic plants. She is stunning as a floor plant
Your plants are literally stunning, I am breathless, and you’re just casually talking about them like they’re whatever… please. Adopt me 🙏
If you are in the USA I would gladly share cuttings or baby plants with you. Just not in winter. I am always having to chop back my plants. I try to find homes for cuttings. Breaks my heart to just have to throw them to compost.
@@shadesofidaho that’s incredibly kind. Me from a year ago would definitely have taken you up on that! I can barely care for what I have. You’re wonderful
@@hanstera_deliciosa \ Well if they are amazing plants i will heck with you before I send them to compost.
I am instantly jealous (in a loving way) of your set up. 😮😮😮 🤗
Well Thanks. I am glad you like it. After my hubby died the plants kind of took over the house. I have had plants and lots of them since the 70's, YES I am that old.
@@shadesofidaho That’s so cool. Much respect
Merry Christmas Chris x
Merry Christmas to you too. My little Blast from the Past. I hope your life is going well. Are you in instagram? I just did some mosaic window sills in my living room and dining room. Nothing really fancy. But it perked up those boring window sills. Thanks for watching.
Loved the tour Chris!!!! Two things…what is that super cute small round leaf plant above the Mccolley’s finale? I was trying to figure that out! Also I got a sneak peek of your green/jadeite glass and was hoping you were going to show more of that side of the room lol 💚💚💚.
Hi Gena. The tiny leaf plant is the Codonanthe. It is going through a leaf drop right now . It does not like the change in weather. I got this pant as a wee cutting and have had it for several years. I did see the plants at Walmart last year. Maybe home depot too. I am trying to think where I have jadite glass. Where was I in the video? only hare one jadite plate and honestly have no idea where it might be right now. If the glass was in my china cabinet it is a depression green glass. Thanks so much for watching.
@@shadesofidaho Thanks for the ID. It looked really cute. The glass was in a cabinet. Looked like jadeite to me. I think it was a pitcher that I saw first. Either way..I'm a big fan of green glass!!!! It looked really pretty!!!!
@@shadesofidaho It's at 8:25
@@ThePinkTrellis The pitcher is a set of three with cream and sugar or??? Very vintage. There is also a big leaf dish that matches but probably not part of the set. I will get you a photo and put it on IG. For sure all pieces are pottery. I have had them for about 20 years and they were vintage when I got them. The big leaf is USA Calif. Original #713
@@ThePinkTrellis Yes I can see how it does look like Jadeite in this shot. I wish it was!!!
Hi Chris! Your string of heats and your paradoxa are out of this world! I'm so impressed! Wow your Decursiva is amazing as well.....mine is cut up in a jar. Because it had scale on it! So I finally chopped and threw the root ball away, but it was leggy, anyway....I love how lush yours is....I love your plant room and it looks so beautiful.....your kitty is so cute :) and love your house! How are is your hoya bathroom doing? Talk soon love tina
Hi Tina. I love that od string of hearts plant. It seems to like where I have it. It grew all the way down to the floor so I had to chop it and then bring the bottom of the strands up and hang them over a large hook. Probably why it looks so full. So far I have not had scale. Another plant friend told me she has had it several times and uses the Germex hand sanitizer on it directly from the bottle to get rid of it. You can get a huge bottle of it at walmart. It is very inexpensive. She told me that brand is thicker than most of the other hand sanitizer. I am trying to keep my Decursiva small. By chopping on it so much it has put out several growth points down low. I really like the look of the low bushy plant. Thanks for watching.

Well Thank you for searching for me. I have not been making as many videos . Since I do not consider myself an influencer kind of person I felt my videos were getting kind of boring. As most of us plant people do there has been a lot of changes here in my plant world. I think my plants are finally settled into their happy places. Thanks so much for watching.
Hi Chris! I got the burmanica from Gena too! So far so good! I think you will love it! We moved at the end of July so going crazy trying re set up my house! I did get your email and will be writing you back! What beautiful scindapsus cuttings from Gena! She is the best! Wow did she give you some beauties! There are so many moreI want from her collection! So happy you’re doing good….always love when you post! Love tina
Oh I am glad you moved away from the creepy landlord that only allowed 10 plants. That is nuts!!! I HATE moving house it is so much work and nothing fits exactly where it did in house before making so many decisions to do all over again. It boggles my brain. I will be happy to send you some plants when you get settled in as long as it is not too cold. Otherwise it will be spring time. So far the Burmanica is doing fine. I LOVE those little clips. I ordered a big set of them. I had to get butterflies. The set Gena bought had both but no longer available. I like butterflies too. Keep in touch!!!
Hahaha Jokes on me I did get dragon flies not butterflies. Both are great but the dragon flies are so cute on the trellises.
Scindapsus plants is beautiful 💚 that my fav plants, Chris 🤞💚

Very nice plants. I know you will do well with all of them 😊 I can't figure out why I never get notified of your videos ? I've even unsubscribed and then right away subscribed and always hit all 😢 just don't get it there are a few more I don't get notified or it will be days later. Oh well fresh. So I went and watched like 4 that I missed 😅😅
I had to start using Blogtrotter to get my youtube notifications a couple years ago. Not sure why this happens. It is a free service online. You just have to add the content creators channel link to the site and then you will be notified. Easier to manage your subscriptions too. Thanks for watching!.
Hi Chris! I really enjoyed this unboxing video! Beautiful new plant babies! 💚 I also really like watching your pets just hanging around. They are so cute! 🥰
Thanks for watching Elana. Funny people always ask me why I never get lonely living alone. With the 5 kitties and two dogs some one is always hanging out with me. Putting the video together I noticed just as I was saying I have a kitty that chews plastic there she was don on the floor chewing on that silver bubble wrap. I had no idea she was even there. Silly girl.
Of course! I love watching your videos. You are very light and positive person and you have so much to show. Your plants and your crafts are very cool. And of course your pets are super entertaining to watch. As of those silly people, I always say to them, only boring people get bored and lonely😂
@@ElenasGreenPlanet What a sweet comment to wake up to. It is going to be a planty type of day here. I have a love hate relationship with plant watering day. I also noticed I REALLY need to update my intro. My plants have grown so much since the last intro I made.
@@shadesofidaho I absolutely have love-hate relationship with watering myself. I dread every week to water, but I love having them and looking at them. As of intro, it’s actually very helpful not to even have it. Although your intro is very nice, but from my experience, it seems that people rather just jump right in into the video. But you do whatever works for you 😊
@@ElenasGreenPlanet OHHH Never thought of that. I might just leave it off or maybe put in a couple photos of what the video is about. Thanks for the suggestion. I have half of the hoya bathroom and then my jungle cactus stand. I am remodeling it AKA changing shelves around. Plants sizes change shelves need to be raised or lowered to make room. This part is exciting to me. Then I will give those plants a drink.
Oh wow! Those cover pots turn out so beautiful! You are so creative! ❤️
Thanks Elana. They are really fun to do.
Hi Chris!!!!! Thank you sooooo much 🥰. So way back last year we talked about me sending you some Scindapsus cuttings but you wanted to wait until the spring. Well better late than never. I’m soooo glad they traveled well since they are fresh cuttings. I hope they grow really well for you. They can be slow growers sometimes. Hopefully they grow faster for you. Thanks so much again!!! 💕💕💕
Ah I totally forgot. Tomorrow is going to be another crazy day. Time to water all my plants again. And I have one big repot to do. UGH Trying to decide if I should just send the plant to a new home. LOL For now I popped the three babies into my tiny aquarium in my sun porch. tiny as in maybe 10 inches by 5. If I get time and have the energy left after watering I might start in on closing in the parrot cage. I will have to re-arrange some lighting . My enclosure is going to be far from air tight so I probably will not need fans etc. My goal is to just raise the humidity a little bit. It seems no matter what I end up having to take cuttings and get new starts going because I just do not have the heart to throw them away. Thanks again I will keep you posted on how the little guys do.
Hey, Chris - they are beautiful! I love Groucho's bowl. I can totally relate. No kids, either. Lost my "soul dog" almost three years ago and I will never part with his things. I actually helped deliver him and our bond was incredibly special. It's wonderful that you've repurposed that bowl into art you can continually enjoy... Thanks for sharing! 👏🏽👏🏽🐾🐾💔🌈
Hi Chris!!! They turned out great!!!! Loved hearing about Groucho too. They are like children. Thanks for sharing these with us 💚.
Thanks Gena. They were kind of fun to use up a lot of left overs on these cover pots. And the glass added to the already heavy stainless metal makes these pots heavy enough to support long or tall Rhipsalis. This project has been going on for a few weeks. Thanks for watching.
You and your hoyas. My arch nemesis. 😂😂🖤🖤
LOL I know right. Way too many. Surprisingly they are doing quite well for me. Even the largest one I have had for over 40 years is not so big I can not move it when needed for care. And the rest are mostly a small size. am sick of hauling around huge plants for washing down when needed. I live right on the road and this house gets so dusty. This is why most of my plants are on rolling stands so I can just roll them into the bathrooms as needed. Thanks for watching!
@@shadesofidaho now THAT is super smart. Having them on larger rolling stands. Genius. Roll it right to the shower or outside. I don't know why I just have a fear of bringing hoyas in, and risking the pests they so commonly can get. What's been your experience? What pests have you had? How often? Do they wipe out many? Also I realize how rich that is coming from a calathea girl. 😂🤣
@@MakenzieHallie One time I had spider mites on one hoya . For some reasonn they did not spread to its neighbors. My biggest pest issue has been mealy bugs and after I repotted every one of them and washed and treated their roots as a just incase. They have not been that much of an issue. Also my friend gave me a spray bottle she made up of alcohol water a couple drops of dish soap and a couple drops of orange oil. I had to retreat two hoyas with that after my repot and one Rhipsalis and since then no more mealies. When every one was talking about Flat mites I treated for them just in case I had them. I never saw any under my microscope and I checked every hoya for them. I laughed out all alone sitting here in my living room at a Calathea gal worrying about hoyas getting pests. I do kind of wonder if keeping the majority of my hoyas in my master bathroom the extra humidity helps to keep the spider mites away. My biggest concern for treating plants is your dear little spiders. I know you keep them housed but if one got loose some treatments could be very dangerous to small critters.
I’ve never have gotten my Wayettii to blossom yet. Thanks for sharing. I also will get mealies one mine when the seasons start to change . 😊
I was so surprised to see the Wayetii blooming. I almost missed it. Blossoms were on the window side of the plant. Plant has been hanging in a North East window ever since I brought it home. Thanks for watching.
Everything looks amazing!!! Really enjoyed seeing all my favorite genuses :). I didn't realize how fabulous the Rhipsalis agudoensis (butchered that LOL) is!!! Tina gave me one too. I love the growth shape of that one after seeing yours....which I am now going to baby the heck out of that plant. I moved it to higher lighting since I had mine in lower lighting. I am starting to see the rounder shape now on mine and I want to keep that going. What an awesome looking plant!!!! I would say you are a Hoya head for sure :).
LOL You noticed I did not even try to pronounce many names of the Rhips and hoyas. I think it might have been a year since I started with Tina's "A" Rhipsalis baby and the hoya and silver dollar vine. All are doing well. It seems once a Rhipsalis starts taking off they grow like crazy for me. I do have most of mine in a south east window so they get super right light and full on early morning sun. Once in a while I pull the whole plant stand out and turn it around to expose the inside side of it to the window. That stand is pretty full now. I even sent another duplicate Rhipsalis off to a friend Thursday to make room for the Fire Sticks. I keep thinking if I had to do it all over again I think I would go with Hoyas and Rhipsalis/Jungle cactus and some vining philodendrons. I had my Monstera D in the give away room then found a place for it and now I a sorry I held it back. I am over it. Just too big.
@@shadesofidaho I like the idea of the Monstera deliciosa but then it grows and gets huge and I have big regrets LOL. My two are still small so I have some time :).
@@ThePinkTrellis So funny this popped up right now. I was just getting ready to get back into get it done mode. First on list was to take a deep look into my Monstera D. I was influenced to keep it but it is just not bringing me joy. I was even looking at small ones to buy and start over. Then I am going oops WHY when I can just chop mine down to start over saving money.. So I think that is what I am going to do. It is under planted with a lovely Philodendron Brazil that is giving half moon leaves and draping the pot so nicely. So snip snip chop chop coming up. I will see about rooting the cuttings to just give away.
Wow, Chris - everything looks beautiful! Your ingenuity always impresses...and your plants are obviously very happy! (Mealy bugs have been the scourge of 2024, btw, you're not alone in that battle.😫😫😫) Thanks for sharing your lovely home and gorgeous plants! 👏🏽🪴👏🏽💚
OH that is interesting others are also struggling with mealies. I now have a loaded spray bottle of mealy bug cocktail in every place I have plants. I think I am gaining on the problem. A friend told me about using a couple drops of Orange oil in the mixture can also help. So far so good.
Chris how do you do it? The amount of work with watering, cleaning, garden, mosaiics omg you are one busy lady. Your bathroom's a real Hoya Haven and all the plants look so healthy. It's a great video, and I'll be watching and waiting for the next one, thank you 💚
Thank you Musicalmarion. The plants have been doing pretty well lately except for the mealies. Little buggars. I will get them. I had them years ago but only on two plants. It was a nightly routine to check those plants over for new ones. Thank you so much for watching and commenting.

I enjoyed this SO MUCH!!! Your yard is fabulous...this is the style I enjoy. Loved seeing the ladybug infestation LOL. When we lived in southern California, I had the same situation...saw those creepy ugly bugs. They were EVERYWHERE all over a blooming night jasmine (LOVED that plant other than it looking like shite most of the time LOL). I learned then that it was ladybugs. I still don't know why the bush look all gnarly like that. Have you seen aphids? I never saw any bugs other than the ladybug larvae things (the ugly guys LOL). Your rhubarb is FABULOUS!!!! One of my favorite things was seeing your wild violas (johnny jump ups!). I LOVE them so much. I just added some violas to my butterfly garden this year. Thanks so much for sharing this yard tour. I see why it keeps you busy. So much to see and do :).
Yes my property is only half an acre in a triangle shape which makes it odd. I have kind of developed three yard rooms. i am finally feeling like this is how it will stay. I know the growth is shocking. I really like the rhipsalis jungle cactus combo basket. I will have to trim ends on a couple of them because they are already hanging down in my face when I walk in there. I might have to switch the basket with the stag as it grows more upright. Thanks for watching.

Thank you Suzette. Yes they are growing like weeds. Thankfully a local friend picked 4 up today. I have been hanging onto then for her for a long time. At this point I do not intend to replace them. They were from breakage or cuttings from my mother plants so duplicates. And yesterday I sent off another car load of plants with another local lady that used to be my neighbor years ago. Hopefully tomorrow I can get the plants that are left more spread out and in better locations for them. It is so nice to feel a little space to work with. Don't work too hard. Thanks for watchng.
Hi Chris! Your Hoya look amazing! I have no Hoya in my house right now! They are all outside! My landlord told me I can have 6 plants per room! Never have had that low of a number since I moved in here 10 yrs ago! We are hoping to move this summer! I really hope so! So nice when you post! Hope you’re having a nice June!
OH My how can your landlord regulate you that way?? I really do have way too many plants and many of the hoya duplicates are going away as soon as I am sure I have the mealies under control. I think I have about 6 duplicates. That will really help thin things down a little bit. But even so I kind of miss being able to buy plants. Part f today I worked on adding better wheels to a couple of my existing plant stands. I had all the wheels. Just needed to move plants flip stands over and screw them in. When thift store closes I have dibs on a cool area rug for my sun porch. It is going to take me half of forever to get it cleaned. But it will help keep that room warmer in winter. Thus I wanted easier to roll wheels that will go up and over carpet. I also hope to add wheels under my trunks I have around the house to make vacuuming easier. Thanks fr watching!
@@shadesofidaho love the wheel idea! I use to have a bunch of wheel furniture that I miss! I am so traumatized…..we had mold since November so I called and of course they are blaming my plants…..even though all us plant people know it is not from the plants but poor ventilation and poor windows….i miss and love ordering plants too! Thanks for writing! Love tina….
@@justinamontgomery2618 LOL I have to shift furniture to vacuum so often and the trunks are pretty heavy. I hope it works. Not a top priority right now but hopefully soon. Ha I have to keep my hoyas in my master bath to make more humidity. Having my window glass replaced with better quality glass has really helped with the climate in my home. Course for now every thing is opened up. Even all night.
LOL the cat!!!! Worst plant pest LOL. Your bella is outstanding. So happy to have a piece of that. They really are gorgeous. My shepherdii has not bloomed yet for me this year. Last year it went nuts so I don't know what's going on with it. And yup....the linearis...those peduncles are so hidden. I propagated my plant not realizing I was removing cuttings with peduncles LOL. That was heartbreaking. Two videos in one week? I must have missed one...going to go look. I was so happy to see this one :). Thanks for sharing!!!
Well maybe more than one week between them. Everything is just running together lately. Just so much to get done and the weeds are brutal this year. Not sure why as every year I make sure to get them pulled before they set seed. I am getting excited about my carport patio do over now it is getting close to being done. That has been a big job. Mostly I refurbished my 30 year old expanded metal patio set. It was starting to rust. I had to get the rust gone and give it primer then a fresh spray paint job. It really brightens things up out there. Thanks for watching!
Always a pleasure, Chris - and what a fantastic display you've got going on! Wow - congrats! My little collection of Hoya (plants much smaller than yours) was plagued with mealy bugs, as well. They seem to have survived the treatment, (about two weeks ago) except for my little Bella 😢 - so I happily live vicariously through your gorgeous specimen! Thanks for sharing! 👏🏽🪴👏🏽💚
OH those mealies came on like a house afire. I am keeping a really close eye on all of them and have spray in the bathroom to use as needed. Hoping the Bonide kicks in soon. Thanks for watching!
Lovely surprise, Chris - always love a peak into your beautiful home and collection! What great hanging baskets - they look great in your sunroom. That fungii from Kellie is amazing! We are having weird weather in New England, too - has made transitioning indoor plants outside pretty tricky. How are your fur babies? Looking forward to more when you're up for it. Thanks for sharing! 👏🏽🪴👏🏽
What a fantastic tour
Thank you. LOL once again I see I need to make intro changes. Plants evolve. Thank you for watching.
I enjoy your videos whenever you share and look forward to your creative projects and yard . Thanks for sharing as I get plenty of ideas from you to apply to my own paradise.
Thank you so much. I am so happy you get inspiration from something you see. Tank you for watching.
💚💚💚💚that fungii is gorgeous!!
LOL I know that fungii leaf is shocking in size. Love it. My Fungii , from you, is very splashy. Thank you for watching!
This was a nice surprise!!!! Your paradoxa is fantastic. What???? The thrift shop is closing up? That's so sad. We haven't been thrifting as much lately. Went today and didn't buy a darn thing. Prices are just way too high lately. Looking forward to your outdoor yard tour when you are ready :).
Well I tried to get to the yard but you know how it goes when cleaning up messes. I always make a bigger mess before it al starts to come together. Thanks for watching.
