My Top 5 Fantasy Books of All Time....so far (2024)
An obscure fantasy work I recommend is "The Kingdoms of Elfin"
tyyyy sometimes we need a cry 🥹
Words of Radiance was incredible. My only complaint about Words of Radiance is that I ranked both Oathbringer and Rhythm of War as 4/5 because they were such a drop off. They were still good, but no comparison.
come on bro, ready player one was so badly written.
The green bone saga had me crying multiple times throughout the series but the last book - Jade Legacy - damn I cried so much at the one part I’m sure anyone who’s read it can guess 🥹 Such a great series.
You don't see many people who review books. Good list I'm impressed.
@@billwoods7578 appreciate that!
@ Definitely man don’t read much fiction anymore but I’m inspired to from this vid. Can I read Hero of Ages right away, or is there a book I’d have to read prior?
@ you have to read Mistborn: The Final Empire, and The Well of Ascension before Hero of Ages
@ ok thank you!
AND FOR MY BOON
@@jaredkessler9576 Kaladin is classiccccc haha
@@Smitty1423 My favorite character hes the goat. Im scared for W&T i hope sanderson doesn't break my heart
@ I’m scared too haha
I remember reading a Goodreads review of "The blade itself" that was more of a "People told me Abercrombie was great and I don't like it, so here I am gonna trash people's taste" and it had a lot of comments agreeing that I wondered if I had read the book wrong. Then realized the author just wasn't into grimdark, cause he kept calling Joe "Mr. Grimdark" and he got really defensive on my comment when I replied to his review "seems more of a you problem with what you expected out of this book and not the book itself".
I love Tuesdays with Morrie, I should re-read it too. What a great guy. I always think of him when I remember that it's something to be grateful for when we can just outside and look up at the sky. Loved project hail mary too. Biggest criers for me have been the narrow road to the deep north, when breath becomes air, the light between oceans and soldier, sailor. I properly cried with all of those!
Lonesome dove got me good. The only book I've actually cried at instead of just getting teary eyed
Thank God for your interview bc i can't find anything about him online about book 3
I was impatiently waiting for that Kaigen mention under 6 stars. Great video!
One of the best for sure
Project Hail Mary totally got me too. Also, I cried thought about the last 30 pages of the last book in the Wheel of Time series.
I just wanna say I love the lack of toxic masculinity in this video! there's nothing wrong with men crying, and there's nothing wrong with crying over books. I try not to read books that I know will be devastating (im already mentally ill, I don't need any help being sad lmao) but there are definitely some that have gotten me. one of the most gut wrenching books I've ever read was Human Acts by Han Kang. it's nothing like I usually read, but i was convinced to read it by a coworker and oof. my heart. on the other end, TJ Klune always makes me emotional in a good way. his books always make me feel loved and seen in a way I rarely feel.
Boys life. Fantastic front to back
I guess you were recording this on a laptop, i personally recommend just putting the laptop higher so the camera doesn't look UP at you like this ^^ weird angle
@@misantrope6267 it was on TikTok live so on my phone!
love that you said pony boy, great list
Such a throw back!
Hi, UA-cam recommended your channel to me, which was great because I really enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing your favourite books so far
That’s super amazing! Thanks for subscribing!
For me The Green Mile and The Book Thief left me broken. TBR: A Little Life. I hear it’s a real gut punch and will make you cry ugly tears. I’ve watched many reviews of booktubers reading that book and crying their eyes out.
@@CathyHarrison-bd8vi yeah I’ve heard a lot about that one!
Im struggling thru words of radiance...if the next book os better ill keep going
I feel like the first book I remember crying over was "Where the Red Fern Grows" and thus began me crying over literary animals.
Where the Red Fern Grows is such a great book. I cried hard reading it. Animals especially dogs and the relationship with humans is amazing and beautiful.
Missing a few like Dalinar and Glokta that are on my list, but great list overall.
Dalinar is legit
I love TBR recommendation videos like this. Added many of them to my list - thank you!
That’s so dope no problem!
Bro finish THE RISING SAGA YOU WONT REGRET IT
@@skyte2147 I 1000% will!
love this dude
Appreciate you!
Random sidenote you look like iDom FGC my fav SF6 player lmao
😭😭😭
I just started mistborn! I am loving it so far, I already started buying more Brandon Sanderson books 🤭 so so good
It’s so damn amazing!
I just finished morning star, I can not articulate how much I love the characters in the book. I bawled
@@amarahlangner4415 yeah it’s like you don’t realize how much you really like the characters even the side characters until…yeahhh
Just listened to the first two books on audible while at work and i can't wait for the next one. I think it could make an excellent movie if they stayed true to the book.
@@CowboyChuntis I 1000% agree!!
The only books so far that made me shed a physical tear( and I rarely cry) are Christopher Pike’s Last Vampire 6 and V.C Andrews’ Music in the Night. I truly don’t know why…
Will have to look into it!
Book 6 of Red Rising is a 6 star. You’re gonna love the second half of the series so much it’ll entirely change your perception of pierce as well as the first 3 books.
Can’t wait to get there!
Lonesome Dove and Unbroken got me recently. Order of the Phoenix, definitely.
Gotta check those two out!
I read Lonesome Dove this year and I was crying so hard my husband thought something was seriously wrong with me. 😂
great video man, I’m def gonna be checking out some of these books! 🎉
@@cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese dope hope you enjoy!
As someone who is absolutely obsessed with the red rising saga, I have to compliment you on your excellent taste in literature 😜 I wonder if you continued with the story after the morning star? Because if you shed a tear while reading it, the next three books will rip your heart out….. I’m not exaggerating, I’m rather tough as far as crying over fictional characters, but Pierce Brown, man, he has his way., what an incredible incredible author.
@@YaFeya13 I haven’t continued it yet but I will next year!
@ oh you’re so should, Pierce Brown took the story to whole new level. It’s mind-boggling, how in the world does he do that? Anyway, great list.👍🏻
No 5 stars for any of Joe Abercrombie’s?!
I soft dnfed The Blade Itself but will try again next year
@smitty1423 that’s fair man! Of course just a personal opinion, but for me the first law books are some of the best I’ve ever read. The character work is just so strong. 😃 but I tend to be a ‘character first’ reader anyway, and will generally enjoy books like that most of all. But I hope you enjoy it more next time round :) love the content 🕺🏻
@@TheSpidersAnkles yepp excited to try it again!
Excellent books 📚 in your list 🫡💯.
Appreciate you!
Lord of the rings!!!!
I gotta check it out!
@ if you like sci-fi I loved hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy as well not as long as some of these books but had me laughing out loud while reading
Stargate SG-1 🥹
@@rachelny5209 such a classic
I love this idea! You have put scythe on my radar for sure. Already own Legendborn. I loved project hail mary. I just bought Mistborn, my first Brandon Sanderson 🎉
Scythe is so damn amazing
Oooh! Some new books for me to read. Many thanks for the recommendations. Based on the ones you've mentioned that I know, I recommend Anathem by Neal Stevenson- an easy 5 star for me
@@sleepingstate1978 thanks for the rec!
Look, anyone who doesn't shed a little thug tear over Sword of Kaigen, The Order of the Phoenix and all of those Sanderson endings should never be trusted 🤣 Also, you totally sold me on Tuesdays with Morrie, colour me intrigued! The very few books that have managed to make me tear up are Legacy of the Brightwash by Krystle Matar (I think you'd adore this one, especially with how you talked about the magic system in Blood Over Bright Haven!!), Assassin's Fate by Robin Hobb and Speaking Bones by Ken Liu 🤩
Haha I totally agree!
I'm now re-reading RAGE OF DRAGONS for the third time. I don't do that much re-reading, but right now I need a lot of comfort reading. Tau is a beast.
Tau is soooo legit!
i cried with sword of kaigen. i tried to talk about it with my mom & i started bawling. she asked why am i reading such a traumatic book 😅
Now she has to read it so she can see!
man if fantasy is your favourite genere and sci fi is second and rising you must read shadow slave, insane worldbuilding
I keep hearing about this one!
The list of books that have made me cry is too long to list, but Sword of Kaigen, Order of the Phoenix (half blood Prince and deathly hallows) made me cry. Morning Star made me SOB. But Lightbringer?? Idk if I can forgive him. I NEED you to finish the series
I need to and will finish it next year!
@ I haven’t stopped thinking about it and it’s been 3 weeks
Awesome video and hilarious title!
Haha dope!
Love the video, specifically red rising because I just finished the 3rd book so I know what you mean. Also I am looking for my winter reads and thought I might suggest you make a video of your best reads to read during the cozy winter season.
