Classic vintage bicycle collectors Mike and his son Mike Jr. located in Cleveland, Ohio show numerous before and after video's of various old bikes as they buy and restore them. Mike is a retired electrician who worked at Brooklyn Cycle bike shop in 1969 when he was 14 and after retiring as an electrician decided to collect and restore the bikes from his youth as a hobby. His 25 year old son Mike Jr. works with his Dad and goes with him to check out vintage bikes for sale they can work on together and add to their collection. Hope you enjoy the video's.
Schwinn Heavy Duti bicycle video
This is a hard to find 1974 Schwinn Heavy Duti bike in Kool Lemon color and with 70's Schwinn Tractor tread tires. The original late 1950's early 60's Schwinn Wasp sometimes called the Newsboy Special was replaced years later by this Schwinn Heavy Duti bike. As seen later in the video, when I picked this bike up it had the large front Wald basket and the side by side rear baskets still on.
My apologies for the wind noise...it was windier than I thought.
Thanks for viewing and check out my other bike video's too.

Schwinn Pea Picker Krate w/rear disc brake and accessories - AFTER restoration
Переглядів 34 тис.7 років тому
All original 1972 Schwinn Pea Picker with rear disc brake after cleaning, waxing, and lubricating was done on Memorial day 2017. I really enjoyed taking it for a ride to test the shifting, spring fork and seat shocks and brakes and the bike operated smoothly with plenty of people asking questions about it. It rode extremely smooth. Love all the accessories it came with as well, and both front a...
Schwinn Pea Picker Krate w/rear disc brake - as found BEFORE restoration
Переглядів 4,3 тис.7 років тому
Rare classic 1972 Schwinn Pea Picker with a rear disc brake as found after many years in an attic. This campus green Krate is the considered by some enthusiasts on the Schwinn Forum to be the most desired Krate of all because 1972 was the last year Schwinn produced the Pea Picker and also the first year(only made in 1972-73)for the rear disc brake, so there aren't many around anymore. Also incl...

Schwinn Jaguar Mark II Bicycle 1958 Original Classic
Переглядів 10 тис.8 років тому
1958 Schwinn Jaguar Mark II bicycle (sorry for repeatedly calling it a 1957 in the video...I had an identical black '57 Jag that I sold and I still get mixed up, so it is a '58). Mostly all original except the tires...I have the rear reflector but keep it in a safe place to prevent it from being damaged.

Huffy Rail Dragster Muscle Bike vintage 1972
Переглядів 19 тис.9 років тому
This is a nice example of a 1972 Huffy Rail Dragster muscle bike 3 speed all original except the tires. It cleaned up very nicely for a 43 year old and wasn't abused like most boy's bikes. When researching this model online, I found only a few similar Huffy bikes with the shorter version of the yellow Rail frame and yellow fenders, but none had the sweet chrome chain guard like this one. Came l...
1968 Raleigh Fireball - Rare five speed muscle bike w/3+2 shifter
Переглядів 7 тис.9 років тому
My son and I recently completed the restoration of this rare 1968 Raleigh Fireball 3 2 in black with everything original except the tires. Raleigh made this particular 5-speed model for only a few years in England to compete with the successful Schwinn Stingray line in America. Only a limited number were shipped to the USA and so only a select few still exist here today. It has the unique 3 2 g...
Schwinn Lemon Peeler Krate w/rear disc brake - AFTER restoration video filmed 3 -15 -2015
Переглядів 21 тис.9 років тому
After working part time on the bike for about 6 weeks since the original video, this is the 1972 Schwinn Lemon Peeler after careful cleaning, detailing, waxing of every component and greasing of all bearings. This bike was all original right down to the tires and was not beat upon like most old boy's bikes are. The seat is usually shot, but this one is really clean and still had the reflector a...
Schwinn Lemon Peeler Krate w/rear disc brake - BEFORE restoration video filmed 2-3-2015
Переглядів 5 тис.9 років тому
This is a video of the sweet 1972 Schwinn Lemon Peeler I was lucky to find locally in the original condition I bought it in. It had been stored in a basement for many years by the original owner, thus explaining the condition shown in this video. The rear Sure Stop Disc brake was a feature on the Schwinn Krates for only 2 years, 1972 and 1973 (sorry, got excited and said '71 and '72 in video) b...

Tengo una 1967 reconstruida en buenas condiciones
How much $
I'd love to have that electric horn for mine. So rare today.
Thank you!
WOW that is the perfect bike. Love the green metalflake on the seat and handle grips!
Thank you!
NICE!!! Takes me back. Great memories.
Thanks!
Mines a FAMILY one, how much are they worth
That's a very nice bike but the one thing that's not original to that bike is that saddle that saddle is older than the bike that saddle came off of a late fifties Schwinn Black Phantom the saddle that's supposed to be on that bike is usually black vinyl that says Messenger on the saddle or Schwinn approved.
These late 60s early 70s muscle bikes they're sure going for a lot of money nowadays especially the Schwinn Krate bikes but it's great to see other companies making muscle bikes muscle bikes back then giving Schwinn a run for their money .
I have a girls spirit of 76 schwinn girls bike .saved it from a basement that got water
My new idea make this electric
Wich part in OHIO sir? Me olso living in OHIO with my schwinn coal krate
This reminds me a bit of the Schwinn Stingray my Pop's bought me in 1968
I have a 70 Manta Ray that is original that I could trade for your pea picker krate plus cash.
Awesome bike! I have a June 1960 the same color and everything!! Love it too!!
I had a new one. Somebody stole it.
Someone stole mine as well, bastards!
I had an Apple Krate. Check out my link. ua-cam.com/users/shortswd3NAcoMf0s?feature=share
Back in the day when this was AMERICA we used to take them generators off they were troublesome and problematic in general and they would wear out a tire faster than you would believe we had our pretty bikes with all the accessories and then our old bikes we would trim them down and those was our Wheelie poppers and jump bikes and all around trail bikes ! You see kids I grew up in the country you may have heard of it....... AMERICA! Yes indeed I reckon I'm going to restore that old Schwinn stingray I got out there one more time and make me a trail riding wheelie popper jump bike and fly through the air one more time! Hahaha
Let me guess, you grew up in America.
@@kpri101 ABSOLUTELY!
Was that chrome on the chain guard original? I have a 56 Corvette. I wonder if the seat guard can be taken off and used on other Schwinn seats if the seat plastic is cracked? Mine is badly cracked?
The #s I found on the bike. D447097. I looked up in the catalog said the bike was made for 17 1964. I was just curious if anybody knew what what it would be worth
1960's Schwinn Racer bicycles are currently selling for around $100-$200 on eBay
I have a Schwinn racer
What a machine. chrome in the sun looks great.
Thanks very much for the compliments!
A beautiful bike!
Thank you! Appreciate the kind words!
It's pretty unreal how Schwinn bikes clean up, I've seen some pretty ratty ones that I've been able to bring back. The most impressive part to me is how good the chrome is, just goes to show ya the difference between a bike made in the USA versus somewhere else.
I wish?? I have like this plybike even am old🙏🙏🙏
Had an Apple Krate for about a week in 1978. Paid $60, was going to put all the parts on 24" inch frame as I already built those kind of bikes. My brother's friends stole all the parts while it was disassembled.
I just got one like this it is rusted tho
My sister had this edition in '76. It came with red, white & blue tassels on the handlebar grips.
Had that blue one as a kid. Don't remember the chrome on the chain guard though. Maybe a different year.
From what I have read 1959 was the first year for chrome on chainguard.
Nice bike...so clean....
Thanks so much!!
Just a good polish and armeral
I have and had earlier models both black my would have been a 67-68 with the skinny tires/rims my father sold my first one when I was in the Navy and my 68 CT-90 trail 90 step-thru (registration was down to $7.00 year) I never cared for the skinny 20” tires. Is there a way to convert or acquire OEM size tires reasonably? Thanx
Buena bicicleta
SWEET BIKE
I had a pea picker in about 1976 or 77' not sure if it had disc brakes or not but I wish I had now lol
😯👍🚴♂️incredible !
Thank you!!
Mine did not have dics brakes, I did have the green metal fleck. Best Christmas present I ever had!
No hub cleaner with reflector?
I had this one exactly as a kid but I added super tall sissybar w schwinn turn signals and headlight, oh I wish I had it now
I’d swear they never had a front fender, brand new,, at least early ones..
Our family was too poor to ever afford something like this. But I grew up always wanting one.
I sure can relate. My older brother had one, And the idiot didn't lock it up And was stolen. I wanted a Schwinn and a mini Bike.
@@ou8126 I know that breaks your heart thinking about that sometimes.
It sure does!
@@ou8126 These bikes were stolen all the time.
I was poor as well. I got paper route and walked it for a 4 months till I could save enough to buy one.
When you zoomed in on the rear brakes I was looking at the rim and I got a whiff of chrome polish! Eric Underwood class of 81 Downey High School California 👍
I had a green bike rail dragster in 1971
All the bells and whistles (and headlights and mirrors and speedometers and hand break cushions)
Very nice job on the Pea picker!!!
Thank you!
Nice bike! I had a '71 Pea Picker, It was $100 new.
Thank you!
Childhood dreams and memories
Nice
I'm wondering if this was the bike I sat on in a bike shop a a kid. I'm thinking it was a 3-speed, but I remember it was green, had a stick shift, and was a Schwinn. Oh, I wanted it, but it was too big(I had trouble reaching the pedals. Maybe the seat was too high), and maybe too expensive. Man, was it COOL.
