I'm located in Cleveland, Ohio. As you probably know, these bikes are highly collectable and sought after. The vintage Krates from the late 60's-early 70's (not the remakes from the 90's) are selling on eBay from $800 for a rusty one to $3550 for a mint '69 Apple Krate on July 15, 2012. So you see they appreciate in value while being fun to have in your possession. The genuine 1972 Schwinn RWL Slik rear tire alone is worth $250+.
Had an Apple Krate for about a week in 1978. Paid $60, was going to put all the parts on 24" inch frame as I already built those kind of bikes. My brother's friends stole all the parts while it was disassembled.
That is one hell of a awsomely restored shwinn bicycle ! How in the world did you get that type of bike to look like that ? You are deffinitely a profesional craftsman. AWSOME 💯❤
Had this exact bike when I was a kid..... Sold it for 45 bucks to buy a ten speed English racer.... DUMB.... wish I had it back.... the only upgrade that I had was a six foot sissy bar and white silver speckled banana seat.... love it... "do you hear me SANTA?" I've had quite a few offers over the years for this bike and my other vintage USA made Schwinn's as well. To find a bike like this locally to buy is really rare, so your best bet finding the various Schwinn's for sale is a bicycle lovers website like the CABE classifieds or eBay. But be prepared to get out your wallet because the various Krates are currently selling in the $2000 -$4000 price range. Be careful you don't get a reproduction as some Schwinn Krates were remade in China and are not the same, unless that is what you decide on.
