Adobe's PR Nightmare Continues
Adobe is under fire again, this time for updates to its Terms of Service and the ensuing backlash. In previous videos, I covered Adobe’s initial response and how to disable certain settings in Photoshop and Creative Cloud. Yesterday, June 18, Adobe updated their Terms of Service, but the day before, the FTC hit them with a lawsuit over dark patterns, particularly concerning cancellation fees. As a long-time Adobe user, I’m torn between my appreciation for their software and my frustration with their business practices. Have they done enough to rectify the situation? Let's dive in and find out.

    I have a few gripes with C1. 1) they don’t seem to go back and refine certain things (maybe it’s lack of use) for example HDR and Pano - was released and then never touched, to the best of my knowledge. And still is a pale comparison to Adobe. 2) slider lag using M Mac’s and 4k displays. Seems to be a bug that’s been there since M1 and C1 would rather berate their users in their own forums than actually addressing the bug. 3) they don’t collaborate with “creators” yet seems like they made you sign an NDA for certain features? Seems a bit annoying to say the least since you are handicapped into only taking them at their word.

    if, for example you need save up money for some months worth, doesnt that mean that your prices should be high enough to support that? how high should those prices should be? i saw another photographer on yt say that sometimes a client comes in just once a year, sometimes 2, but he is also pointing out that you need to prepare for that... then how high should the prices go? if you go like, lets say 14-15 months worth, wouldnt that price be too high that potential clients would just say no at that point? but then, if you price too low and thats the only customer you would have for a 14-15 months worth, then you would be cutting yourself short... so assuming that you have no way of asking and knowing how other competitors within the area for the prices of their services, how do you figure out that range of price to land?

    Hi love the channel. Just wanted to speak to a couple things here as a photographer in Toronto who does have commercial representation. Additionally, I have a side business shooting corporate and actor headshots (which is what drew me to this channel). Im curious if you just have the one headshot website, or if you have another website thats more the work you'r hoping will get you commercial work? Im asking because we've all heard the advice about trying to be a specialist in something, that's what most clients (and agents) are looking for. I learned a long time ago that perception really counts for a lot in this industry (for better and for worse) and my guess is that if an agent just saw your headshot website, they'd write you off as just that, a "headshot photographer". Of course there's nothing wrong with shooting headshots. Its something that keeps me afloat when commercial jobs become sparse, as they often can, but people make snap judgements, especially when they see a lot of work come across their desk. This is why I purposely keep my commercial/fashion work on one website, which is the website those types of clients see and the website that my agent saw. My headshot website is completely separate - no one in the ad world knows that I do this and no one whose headshots I take know that I shoot commercial work. Just a thought, but my advice would be to separate your work.

    You mentioned that if you write 20 agents or 10 or 30 and if none want to see you it means that your work is not a good level and get back to work. That's not accurate at all. A photographers work might be amazing but the problem is the agent already reps 20 amazing photographers and does not have time for more. If a good photographer writes to 50 agents and does not get a single reply there a so many reasons why other than the quality of the work. Also you mention finding an agents is easy in cities like NYC or LA simply because there are a lot of agents and that's completely wrong too. There are a lot more photographers as well and the competition in those cities is ferocious.

    • @StudioBuilder
      @StudioBuilder 16 днів тому

      Did not say it was easier in LA or NYC, at all. What I said was compared to the dozens of agencies in LA and NYC, Toronto has only about 12. Also, even if an agency has a full roster, if they like your work and see potential, they will get back to you as they want to stay on your radar and want to keep you on theirs, since they might be looking to add you at a later date to fill a gap that opens up. If you don't hear from anyone, that's a strong indicator that you have work to do.

    It would seem most people don’t understand that if it was not for Adobe many of us would not have jobs or the ability to do what we do to our images, so give some credit to them for that, as for there Business practices most companies will do exactly what they’re doing until they can’t get away with it, nothing new here !

    Why does Adobe need usage rights in the first place? They shouldn't be USING anything customers create. They should PROVIDE usage rights to the software, but any form of TAKING usage rights from a customer is unnecessary and I will never trust it. It's not a website that will display user uploads. It's software.
