Kevin, I wanted to acknowledge and thank you for such a comprehensive, generous video. This video and its companion have helped me fill in gaps in my existing template that I considered pretty strong. Thanks for your efforts in this video and across your channel in general.
Great video. Excellent business advice. Too often photographers forget they are business people. There are too many ambiguities unless you spell it out in writing. Plus contracts tend to weed out less than serious and/or troublesome clients.
This is great advice and thanks for sharing. My only ‘question’ is about the model release terms. Say you do a portrait of a couple and charge them portrait level rates, then a worldwide drinks company see it and want to use it worldwide (that’s a lot of money). Are you saying the couple then get nothing out of that..?
That would never happen. Companies shoot their own campaigns for this very reason. Hypothetically, though, as long as I have releases from both of them, yes. But it's a bad way to do business.

In your experience, for which kind of contracts do clients not give you a model release? As a client, I would not like to see my wedding pictures, headshots or family portraits being used for anything other than my own private use. Your clause basically gives pretty much all commercial usage rights to you, including large ad campaigns. I find this pretty disturbing and I wasn't even talking about nude photography, yet.
This is a pretty standard release. And yes, I could use my images to advertise my services in wedding magazines or online ads. If a client doesn't want that, we can change the contract, but zero people in 12+ years have had an issue with it.
So, I hire and pay you to take some photos of my wedding and you literally own them and me and decide what I can do or not do with images of me that you got paid to... take. Lol. And you get clients?! Probably they can't read.

I recommend you read the copyright laws in your country.
