I was issued the older one and it was fine…the turtleneck didn’t bother me at all cause it is a tall neck. Just enough to keep your kit from rubbing you raw.

Absolutely LOVED my M81 BDUs. Definitely wore the sumemr weight more but these made way more sense. Buttons versus velcro on pockets and fly. I get the reason for velcro on patches but man these bring back great memories.

I bought one at a thrift store a few months ago for $5, dated 1987, small reg. I was surprised to see on the tag that it is 100% cotton. I also have a later version dated 1999, 50/50 nyco, small reg (note sure of the type number). My 1987 Type III is roomier and lighter in weight than the 1999.

just bought and received a Rothco wool blanket and scarf. Neither smell, feel, or look like real wool and I am old enough to know what real wool is like. Roth (and Co) are from the tribe of bullsh*tters.

Cheap, light, and effective. Works great to throw in a gym bag. Replaced an old Gatorade bottle I was reusing 😂. Another tip: you can tie some shock cord or para cord around the rim to make a carrying lanyard that fits securely under the lip.

Ive got 2 of those with the lightholder and one without but they come in handy for sure. Ones attached to my MAP bag and the other is on my squad casually bag

Hey Lucas! Additionally you can just put the poncho on and hunker down. Been there done that! Rain suits they issue now are pretty good but not as easy or fast to put on as a poncho. So now you carry 3 pieces of gear (jacket, pants and tarp) instead of one (poncho). Sounds like another great decision by the fed-gov/pentagon.

Always keep 550 handy but preferably I always bring bungees for quick, taught, setups. Great video, more gear use content please 🤙🏽

Hey buddy..I was 11b Infantry aswell ..In the field if it wasn't raining I didn't use any shelter at all..when I did set my hootch up I used bungee cords instead of a ridge line..I do enjoy your videos brother..Vince g 11b Infantry
