Sorry this video is so poorly made. I really just wanted to get some info out there on the new System76 Lemur Pro - Lemp11. I couldn't find much when I was researching for my purchase. I hope I don't sound too, negative. I really am happy with my purchase, but I want you to know what to expect. Let me know if I can answer anything for you.

How I learned REACT at my Coding Boot Camp

Sorry, everyone! My first attempt at loading this video failed and only the first few minutes worked. This should be the full video. Learning React was a fun and challenging process. I found that learning React worked best by combining the knowledge I gained at my boot camp and then combining it with the knowledge from outside sources.

Coding Bootcamp Graduation - Full Stack Developer - MERN Stack

Here is a short video of my graduation from SMU Coding Bootcamp. This was a 6-month part-time boot camp that taught me the MERN stack. MERN is MongoDB, Express.JS, React.JS, and Node.JS. Trust me when I say that it is "part-time" in title only. This took up most of my life for six months but it was so worth it. I've seen recommendations to use a pressure relief valve to keep soaker hoses and connectors from popping off, and water from shooting into the air. You did not, I did, and it still shot water into the air from my hose. Only by turning the splitter valve way down, did the water drip like it should. Any thoughts on this subject?

My current career is an instrument/electrical technician at a gas plant I work around programmable logic controllers, hmi’s ethernet switches. I currently make around 90-100k. Im a veteran, I deal with disabilities with my lower back and feet that keeps me in pain all day. So im looking at just swapping careers for the sake of my health, and would love a work from home job. Is there any advice you can share with me before I enroll. I can’t even get the water to go 75 feet down the hose. And I have a regulator on…. Around the house it’s not flat so the hose goes up and down, not level. Would that cause the water to not make It all the way down the hose?

I need a Linux based laptop, and I'd love to have a Mac, but I just can't stomach the price. Paltry storage space and ram for the price. Too many cutbacks in horsepower for that premium Mac hardware feel. Maybe one day. I think I'm going with System 76. I think some of their other models feel more luxurious, like the Pangolin and Darter, but I actually like the size and weight of the Lemur the best (and I think it has the longest battery life). Thanks for the review, hard to find detailed reviews for the Lemur. p.s. Google 'system76 prototype' (without quotes) to see pics of their in-house laptop chassis progress. I'm sure there'll be quite a premium for it ($$), but it's coming along, so I'd love to support the company. p.p.s. Are you still using the laptop? I almost feel like you're going to respond with "I sold it and bought a Mac" lol.

I do a lot of roles in the small company.. and no one to mentor me or enough IT tasks… I think a boot camp is my way out to at least an entry job idc about the money at first I’ll take a salary cut … as long as I get my foot in the door

My gut reaction is to tell you not to spend that much money on a bootcamp. I would buy one of the Udemy Web Developer courses first and you successfully finish one of those, then maybe make the investment in a boot camp. Getting hired after a bootcamp is going to be very, very difficult. You should be committed to waiting 12 - 24 months before getting hired as a software engineer (SE) and in that time you CANNOT stop coding. After a few months of rejection letters, people get disillusioned and stop adding code to their Github. You have a good opportunity since you're already working in IT. Perhaps you can "create" your own SE role at the same company. If you can have that title for a year, you'll have way more opportunities. Either way, best of luck! This is just my opinion and if you feel going is the best option for you then go for it!

It doesn't feel cheap, but I don't think it feels as "premium" as a ThinkPad. Since mine is connected to an ultrawide monitor, I don't move it much. I don't believe you'll be dissatisfied with it, but if you start comparing how feels (not how it runs) you might feel a little iffy on it.

I don't know. I recently got a Darter Pro for work (love it) and I had the Touch pad issue, but on a Fedora Live USB. The version I had in the USB was old, so I updated it and the issue was gone. I think the problem actually is the Kernel. So when you get a new notebook, you might bet an incompatible kernel, but it's solved after an update.

Was resisting the urge to comment but I have to. You are playing into their system of false promises. They claim to people that they will receive a degree from a specific university when in fact all of the curriculum is written by a third-party source that provides outdated information. This is deceitful branding and misleading marketing to an absolute pin drop. I guess this could be due to the fact this video was published in 2018 and in 2019, trilogy education was sold to 2U for $750 million. Doubtful 2U cares about quality of their education over the dollar signs they fraud people out of.

And if you had to pay the $9500 out of your pocket (instead of using your GI bill) do you think you would have critiqued the program more? It sounds like the college your going to improves the Trilogy “model”. I also agree that having excellent professors makes a big difference in your level of understanding, especially when learning new programming languages. Good Luck😀

    • @TechLifeForLife

Hey Amanda, this is a great question and I might have to make a video response. My situation is very unique. I'll give a quick summary. Before I went to the bootcamp is was earning nearly $80k, in a different carrier field. I went to the bootcamp hoping I could land a remote software engineering role because my family and I were going to sell everything we had and travel the country for a year After graduating from the bootcamp, I still had about 4 months before I could leave previous job and my skills started to dwindle because I let them go. Ok, that said, many of friends from the bootcamp were hired as engineers...some within a few weeks and others 14 months later or longer. I think going to the bootcamp really helped me get to my cyber security career today. So even I had to pay, the bootcamp I went to was great and worth the money. If you go to any bootcamp add 6 months after graduation for job hunting and if you can try getting a tutoring role to keep improving your skills. This was kind of a quick reply, but please ask more if you want. I'll keep an eye out.
