  • Sorry this video is so poorly made. I really just wanted to get some info out there on the new System76 Lemur Pro - Lemp11. I couldn't find much when I was researching for my purchase.
I hope I don't sound too, negative. I really am happy with my purchase, but I want you to know what to expect. Let me know if I can answer anything for you.

Thank you for reviewing the new Lemur Pro, I'm thinking of buying one. Would have been good to see some CPU benchmarks, measurements of power usage and battery life.

I don't know. I recently got a Darter Pro for work (love it) and I had the Touch pad issue, but on a Fedora Live USB. The version I had in the USB was old, so I updated it and the issue was gone. I think the problem actually is the Kernel. So when you get a new notebook, you might bet an incompatible kernel, but it's solved after an update.

I really want a system 76 laptop, but all reviews I see have way more cons than pros

At this point I would not buy one to be my only computer. You'll need to have a Windows or Mac as a backup. I want to love it and sometimes I do but it's just not there. I wish they'd charge an extra $500 - $700 and make it feel more premium like a Mac.

I had the exact same issue with the touchpad on first boot with my lemp11. At the time, I rebooted, before proceeding with the installation, that resolved the issue at the time. I haven't seen the issue since. Part of me was wondering if I pressed the "Disable Touchpad" button(special key shared with F1) and have dismissed the issue since, but interested now that I hear another person has experienced the same issue.

Investing that they changed the HDMI port to the other side. I have a lemp10. The cursor problem happens a lot to me in Windows as well. Only sometimes does it recognize that there is a touch pad. It works EVERY time on Linux however for me.

Good video! Unfortunately I bought the same model and sent it back. Speakers were a show stopper for me. My $300 Asus Chromebook speakers sound better!

They won't help if you have a dead pixel? That's insane. I've had many laptops and never a dead pixel. If this happened to me on a brand new laptop I'd be severely pissed off.

It seems this can run 2 4k monitors simultaneously. Any have tried it running on one 5k monitor?

Hi. How do you feel about the quality in comparison to say, a ThinkPad? I'm thinking of getting one but skeptical about the durability.

It doesn't feel cheap, but I don't think it feels as "premium" as a ThinkPad. Since mine is connected to an ultrawide monitor, I don't move it much. I don't believe you'll be dissatisfied with it, but if you start comparing how feels (not how it runs) you might feel a little iffy on it.

Could You elaborate on battery life? System76 says 14h of battery life, but what is the real life battery life?

Hey Lukasz, I haven't done any sort of testing but I think around 10 or 11 hours is what you should expect. Sidenote: It seems like closing the lid does not place the computer in hibernate or suspend mode.

@@TechLifeForLife Then change that in the firmware. It came with coreboot for a reason.

Totally agree with this video, even though, a person could love Linux System, when you pay for this kind of device, you dont pay for the system because is already free, you pay for the manufacturing quality… at that range of price MacBook is way better, sorry but is the truth.

I need a Linux based laptop, and I'd love to have a Mac, but I just can't stomach the price. Paltry storage space and ram for the price. Too many cutbacks in horsepower for that premium Mac hardware feel. Maybe one day. I think I'm going with System 76. I think some of their other models feel more luxurious, like the Pangolin and Darter, but I actually like the size and weight of the Lemur the best (and I think it has the longest battery life). Thanks for the review, hard to find detailed reviews for the Lemur. p.s. Google 'system76 prototype' (without quotes) to see pics of their in-house laptop chassis progress. I'm sure there'll be quite a premium for it ($$), but it's coming along, so I'd love to support the company. p.p.s. Are you still using the laptop? I almost feel like you're going to respond with "I sold it and bought a Mac" lol.
