Hey Pete, I've had the the wheel come a little loose one time, you mention this in the video - with the old locking "knobs" I think the pin must not have been properly set in the open slot I'm not sure, just happy I noticed before it came all the way loose. Anyway you said you had a fix for it would you elaborate on that? Nice to see you going good, I spoke to some people though they said the new Apex wouldn't be in the store before 2025? I can see they have the ones with the new axle now but is that also with the new AC brushless motor?

Slide your fingers on a newly sharpened knife ? Yes you can but never along it, across it is correct, you can easily feel a burr. You are just feeling with the ridges in your fingerprint, and by how easily the edge catches the ridges. Somehow the sharper the knife the crisper the edge feels.

Hi Pete! I certainly enjoy your videos. Great stuff! As a fellow sharpener and so to be Tradesman Edge Apex BOW owner, I just want to find out if your neoprene honing wheel has experienced any mishape from the tensioned belt when thinning knives on it? @FREEHAND.WETGRINDER Thanks for your response on the honing wheel holding up under belt tension. Based on your review I ordered an apex with two belt over wheel attachments. This was several weeks ago before this post. I mentioned your post to them and referenced it as how I wanted mine to be set up. If you need details about the order I can provide them. FYI my right hand BOW came damaged my left hand shaft came milled to shallow and I wasn't able to tighten the insert until I ground about an eighth of an inch off of the set screw and the small wheel on the left BOW was so wobbly I ended up replacing it as well. All the problems are now fixed and it works great. If it doesn't work out for you to send me a laser can you give me the Amazon reference?

I first saw these at a woodturning convention 10 or more years ago. I think they were originally developed for resharpening the carbide bits for the CNC machines. Diamond wheels, even on slow speed/1760 rpm, would degrade quickly because of heat build up. Never got one, but their CBN wheels were very good too.

Why buy a tower at $12,000.00? Because it’s the fastest. I’d say this machine isn’t as fast but very close and it can do many different styles of sharpening as your process evolves. And if you have a customer base that keeps you busy the investment pays for itself. All that said I’m just guessing you’re clients arn’t making you wish you could sharpen more knives in a day or your preference is to hand sharpen with whetstones and damn how long it takes. Which garners my respect.

Bought a TAS about 25 years ago. Sharpened a few $500 shears using white wheel and silicone carbide wheel. Didn't want to but they begged and they were happy with them. Why it didn't ruin them don't know. Pinking sheers shouldn't be sharpening past the darker lap line. Buying new ones try them before you pay for them on the kind of fabric you will use them on. Seems like it was 10% of pinking sheers are defective from the factory. Sharpen regular scissors both blades. Always deburred bottom blade edge trailing then used scissor lube and gentlely close them a few times. Charged 2.00 a pair. Also sharpened knives on the white wheel free hand trailing edge. Deburred on silicon wheel, a piece of wood and a leather strap. 1.00 a knife. Also pizza rockers for Pizza Hut. For about 15 years used a Harbor Freight 1×30 for machetes, lawnmower blades, sickles. But the main business was copying keys and car opening and some locksmithing. All done in an old Kodak photo booth. Work area 4 foot by 6 foot. Clinton Iowa. Oops forgot sharpened many large drill bits for Ralston Purina on a Drex M5. Sorry to ramble on so long. 78 years old now. Didn't often make minimum wage after expenses but it was a good place to share Jesus with people that wanted to hear. God bless you folks.

Nice video, very humble personality. I found your video because I was doing repeated searches for "microscope" "knife" "blade" "edge". I am trying to decide which digital microscope to get for looking at a knife edge for analysis. If you end up doing a video presentation on any gear, I recommend you put in the brand and model number in your title. Example, Andonstar AD249S-P. The reasoning is, if I am searching amazon for a andonstar, or digital microscope, a LOT will come up and there are just so many models. So I will start doing UA-cam searches on specific model to see if anyone has done a video, specifically in relations to knife sharpening. So if you did a video, "Andonstar AD249S-P Digital Microscope for Knife Blade Edge Sharpening". You are going to get a LOT of views.
