Agree with you. I think people get ahold of a custom knife expecting production knife flawless but I like the character you get with the custom. The production knife is nice but sometimes feels soulless
@@ScotchNThings exactly how I feel about it bro. Just don’t like how some folks find the worst parts to point out If everything was perfect it would be a dull world👊😎
I really love how your knives are all raw metal with no flashy bits, I reckon you have the most unique collection of knives I have ever seen, of one particular style of knife. I love my bruisers too!!! Keep up the good work buddy and happy NY from Nick in New Zealand.
I really hope we're both wrong about our summer hunch, but right when you said S45 (26:29) my brain triggered "I thought Dave did that Tyr XL reblade in 3V." Either way, it will be 1) interesting to see how our older-dude brain recall is, and 2) How a blade of a different composition might behave with a different heat treat protocol 😊...I mean really, did the 1095 they were eyeballing for a certain glow in the year 1920 before quenching differ so greatly from the optimized one TOPS does now 😅. I guess we may see. Thanks Dave! 🤙
I am always loving the evolution. I think the reblading thing will be a blast. So cool that you are following your path, and every step of the way is entertaining as hell for us (or at least for me 🤣).
These last two videos have explored a really interesting topic with knives that I really haven't heard much about. Most discussions centre on what improvements a maker can do next time (should they choose to improve their fit and finish) or what outright flaws exist that someone with no ability to fix themselves either has to learn to live with or seek out someone who does have those skills to fix those things. You hardly ever hear someone, especially someone with skills, speak about the handmade aspects of a knife that are character points that truly can't be called design or production (the process of making it) flaws. Thanks for speaking about this SatuDave! And great to also hear your plans for where you intend to take your own work. Looking forward to your Barefoot Bruisers! 😎👊🙏
