Now i know what is wrong with my asparagus bed!!!! Onions and garlic! My strawberries did not make it in that bed. Ill be pulling out last year's alliums. I know this video is 3 yrs old, but if i add basil, parsley and marigolds (I did have marigolds), will it help this year?

Tomatoes voluntarily burst from the compost I put on my asparagus bed! They're friends. 🥰

What about kale?

Basil will not repel pests from your tomatoes. You can make a spray to repel fruit flies and the like from your kitchen. If it was such a great plant for protecting others from pests like aphids, then it would never get hit by pests like these itself. We plant them near each other because they taste nice together to us humans. So outside lay picking, there is no other reason to plant them near each other.

Only grow BUSH cucumber with tomato. But cucumber vines will wrap around tomato branches and break them off. Been there and done that!

Being in california I have only a few problems, water rises to the top and it is solved by the colorado river where we get water from besides what ever is underneath. . . U. K. has its share of avid gardeners and lots of gardens here we call it a backyard there it's called a garden an overwhelming notion Happy Planting and Growing.

Tubers like beets, parsnips, carrots, etc., would they not compete with the space of sweet Potatoe since their tubers are also grown under the soil. Thanks.
