Asparagus and potatoe dont get on woe! Very interesting facts
Thanks Sister.👍🙂
Love potatoes -- have always been my favorite food. You give a lot of great information Steve, on what to plant with them. Hope you all have been well. I was negative on my Monday Covid test, but had a headache and sinus issues on Wednesday, decided to get retested on Friday. Tested positive this time. I actually am feeling pretty good today, so hopefully I'll have a mild case. You guys take care and have a good weekend.
Oh no Cindy, take care my dear friend, if there's anything I can do for you just let me know.
I hope and pray you get over it really fast,
Best wishes as always
Steve
@@stevesgrowingspace Thanks Steve. You guys be well.
@@mylazydaygarden2628 How are you feeling now?
Presumably not too bad because you are still looking at you tube.
I am worried about you Cindy, as you live alone and have no support how are you getting on?
@@stevesgrowingspace I'm doing okay Steve. The only symptom I seem to have is mild congestion. I don't feel 100%, but a lot better than you would think... considering. I did give a heads up yesterday to my niece, nephew and his wife, so they are there if I really need them. Mostly I'm concerned that Sam and the gang be taken care of if I were to end up in the hospital. The Doc warned me a lot of people start off doing good, but then take a bad turn at 7-10 days. I'm on day 6 so I have a few more days to wait. I'm sure I'll be fine though. Thanks for your caring and concern. You are a dear friend Steve, and know I really appreciate your support. Hope you all are doing well. I hear you folks are going to play guinea pigs for us with the vaccine. Thanks 😊
@@mylazydaygarden2628 I hope that days 7 - 10 pass with no more ill effects Cindy.
It's good you have your family on stand by.
I'm thinking of you and I mention you in prayer too my friend.
As for the vaccine I am one who will not be a guinea pig, in my humble opinion any drug that's not had sufficient testing is not safe, no matter how many politicians say it is.
There are numerous cases of "safe" drugs that weren't, Thalidomide springs to mind, in the 60s it was given to pregnant women as an anti morning sickness drug, but it caused foetus abnormalities.
Some would argue that technology has moved on since then but it's not so long ago that people caught AIDS and hepatitis through contaminated blood products.
So the bottom line is no vaccine for me. I don't want to catch covid of course but i fear the side effects of the treatment could be worse.
Hay lắm
Oh yeah this is very good information. See this is probably why my stuff never grew. I just throw things in the dirt and expect it to grow lol
Mostly it will grow but it's always better to give it all a helping hand eh? lol
Have a great weekend
all the best
steve
Hi, thank you for the great tips. I didn't know some plants can improve taste of the potatoes. That's very interesting. W definitely have to do some experiments next year. Great video. Have a wonderful day friend 💘

It's always good to experiment, I look forward to watching your videos on your potatoes next year.👍🙂

By chance I'm growing potatoes with peas this year good to read that it's ok. 🤗
Good job on this video. New subscriber
Blimey steve what can't you plant with the humble spud? There isn't anything it seems. I appreciate the effort it takes to make these videos. Packed full of info for the grower. Mark
Thanks Mark, I hope you are well mate?

Great video 👍🏼 😊
There was a lot of great information In the slides. I’m looking to try to grow potatoes this year. Plus growing a bunch of other veggies and flowers.
Thanks mate, I wish you every success with your potatoes.

I’m growing potatoes, cabbage, and garlic in the same container!! 🤣🤣 the cabbage is ready to harvest and I was looking for something to replace it. Beans it is.
Very helpful Steve! I like this whole series! 👍👍👍 I’m going to give lettuce and celery a try near my potatoes next summer! 😊🎄🎄🎄
Thanks Jennifer, I'm glad you're enjoying these videos.🙂
Have a great week
Steve
Thank you!
Nice video👍👍
May have to try some of those companions. The sage and flea beetle repellant is interesting may have to try that with our turnips as we did have some damage from them this year (not unbearable but still made some holes in the leaves). Thanks for sharing!
Flea beetles seem to be attracted to brassicas like turnips, radishes etc... Sage will definitely help.
All the best
Steve
Nice information 👍🏻
I lost a batch of potatoes to a pest attack
Waiting to harvest my next batch
Celery and corn ❤️
So I shouldn’t plant marigolds in my raised garden beds where the slugs had a partay this year in my garden? 🤔 Good to know.
Should I plant petunias instead? I remember that from one of your other videos.
Love this kind of content! Very helpful to growers.
Hey Nikki, sadly slugs are a universal problem, the best way to get rid of them is to encourage frogs and toads, or go out in the dark, collect them and send them to slimy heaven.😊
@@stevesgrowingspace I don’t like frogs in my yard. But yes they do serve a purpose. Eeks!
Yeah I think I’m gonna have to go out in the dark because I never see them during the day. Thanks again!
@@OCDishChick As for petunias we should always have some of those little beauties.
I once watched a frog eating worms in my garden, and I'm like not the worms fool! Slugs that what you have to eat!😊
That was a mighty fine ticken an a pickin
Nice friend ☺️+1
Thanks

I tried growing potatoes for the first time this year. I got a few but not many at all.
I was a little disappointed. I’ll try it again this year.
Maybe I’ll grow in large buckets next season.
You seem to know how to grow potatoes. Any tips or videos on that subject?
Firstly thanks for stopping by, secondly, if you got more out than you put in, it's a win in my books.
and thirdly, the best tip I can give you is once they're growing don't lift them 'til the plants fully die back. Just because the plant starts to die back, it doesn't mean the potatoes underground have stopped growing. They keep on swelling after the plant dies.
I hope that is of some help.
All the best
Steve
@@stevesgrowingspace thanks for your reply. Do potatoes prefer warm or cool weather or does it matter?
i like this 💕😘
I love all these tips Steve, I do love to garden but I have to admit, I am not very good at it. Some things grow and some don't. I think I need to find better seeds to start with. The ones I buy in a store don't seem to grow that well.
Thanks for watching, the best places for seeds I find is proper seed companies online.
They specialise in seeds and if they're not viable, they wouldn't sell many.
Keep going you'll get some things growing and then the photos will be amazing.
All the best
Steve
So much info, I'm particularly pleased to see petunias are useful for more than just tarting the place up, will they ever get to the bottom of the asparagus situation I wonder😁
LOL I don't know Rachel lol
BTW if you were still interested in the blog about the worm bin, click the link in the description of this video and you can navigate through to it.
No pressure and I won't be offended if you don't want to.
I really am a fan of petunias,
great little plant. Plus they're easy to grow too.

@@hungariancottageadventure77 Thanks Rachel, I saw your comment and I've replied. It's what I do through the cold winter nights when gardening is impossible lol

Great info as always Steve! If I try growing taters in the next summer mate do you think I would have issues with pest bugs? I know it sounds silly to ask but I know nothing about gardening really lol. I do plan to try and grow them like how you did in the bag thing as the soil here in the yard is junk haha. I hope you are well mate and having a wonderful weekend
Cheers Walt, as for the pest thing, I don't know about your area specifically, but as a general rule, you should get less pests if you are growing in a container with store bought compost than if you were growing in the garden soil.
If I was you mate I'd just go for it, if it all goes wrong what have you actually lost?
A couple of potatoes and a bag of compost.
But if it works, you'll have a new skill and some homegrown, organic potatoes.🙂
Have a great week mate
all the best
Steve
I tried lettuce and spinach next to my potatoes this year. Didn't work at all but i think I had it in too shady of a spot
Lettuce and spinach do prefer a bit of shade, but you may be right. Too much shade and they ain't happy either lol
Thanks for watching

What about kale?
All the small letters done in white actually forced Mr to pause this video so I could read it all which put me off reading .
Video doesnt give enough time to read , needs slowed down a little.
Great information on companion planting. See my garden too
