Wow I know I like and use parsley, but had no idea it could do all the things mentioned in the video. Another good video Steve and the hoe down music was a great idea to. Thanks for the tips, I'll have to plant more parsley.
Thanks Steve! I really like this series of videos. I think parsley is a must next year in the garden- I only had one this year in a pot- I don't think he helped any of his neighbors! Seems like they do much more harm than any damage, I don't grow mint anyway... Have a great day!
Some really good interesting info again Steve. Who would have known parsley can be so beneficial in deterring all those pesky things, really cool and something I did not know! All the best mate, have a wonderful upcoming week.
Nicely done Steve. Good information mate. Saved this for later. We do pay attention to companion planting and used some parsley here and there this year, along with some dill and basil. Looks like our okra attracted the aphids away from the maters. The okra got full of ants eating the aphids, but so far has not bothered the crop of okra fruit. :) Excellent video structure and presentation Steve. 👊👏👍
Thanks, I try to not let these videos go on too long, I just like to get the information out there. It fits in nicely with my blog which is mainly about companion planting and I add the videos to the posts as a summary. Just to let you know, the ants don't eat the aphids, they feed on the honey dew that is a by-product, (waste product)produced by the aphids from them consuming the sap from plants. The ants actually farm aphids and will fight off aphid predators such as ladybugs. Ants also take aphid eggs into their own nests to over winter, and then move them onto new plants in the spring. Sorry to go on, but I find this subject fascinating. Have a great week my friend All the best Steve
@@JulesGardening They do control them, but for themselves, for their benefit and our detriment. They even transport them from plant to plant(which can spread viral infections etc...) You're welcome mate. 🙂

I have curled parsley, I will start sowing it once I have my new vermi compost.. I'm not sure why mint and paresley are not good buddies tho.. but interesting 👍😍 Cheers! -Cess
Thanks for your support as always Cess, I am a big fan of companion planting, it's what plants naturally do in the wild. It's only us gardeners who have to have everything tidy and neat. Not nature... Plus me not having much space, I had to find a way to grow more in limited space. Have a great week All the best Steve
Excellent. Thanks for the info, I'd forgotten it was biennial. My intention was to just leave it be until I remembered otherwise so seems an even better plan now.
I saw a documentary some time back about a stand of trees somewhere in Africa. When deer come and graze on the leaves, the plant makes the leaves bitter by releasing some chemical. Then trees up to half a mile distant also make their leaves bitter. So I know what you're saying is the truth. All the best Steve
Okay, this gives me a lot to think about. I’m not real familiar with the herbs - I know I could have used some fresh parsley today when making fried cabbage. I started a small herb bed by the patio, just have to figure the herbs out now 🧐. Thanks for the information Steve. Where do you get the music for your videos? Is it somewhere that is safe and free? Have a great week and take care.
Thanks Cindy, I just finished writing this post so I made a video to put in it. It helps with ranking factors on google so my son tells me. The music comes from the you tube audio library. go on to your own channel, click on you tube studio, then click on audio library. Once it loads click on filters and click on attribution not required, then you can download any piece of music from there and not worry about you tube taking any action due to the music. But you have to filter results by attribution not required. There are other filters too like genre, mood, length etc... Have a look it's fun sometimes just to explore it as they keep updating it. Have a great week my friend all the best Steve
steve's growing space I knew about the audio library but didn’t know about clicking on attribution not required. Thank you Steve, maybe now I’ll have better luck with finding tunes. Take care my friend.

Thanks for this Steve. I'm currently growing Parsley in containers....i will consider this for the for the future.. but i have a question (sorry if it's dumb)....if i compsnion plant the parsley...does this mean the pests will be attracted to the parsley instead? Or will it deter pests from the whole area?
I remember seeing your parsley, it really depends on the pests, parsley will attract carrot rootfly so it's best to keep parsley some distance from carrots, and use the parsley as a sacrificial plant. For other plants, parsley attracts ladybirds for some reason so that makes it a good companion to roses and other aphid bothered plants. Once parsley flowers, which is in its second year, it attracts many useful predators like the tachinid flies and parasitic wasps and hoverflies and bees. These beneficial insects tend to keep the pests at bay either by eating them, or just due to the high traffic numbers flying to and fro. I hope this helps, and no it wasn't dumb at all.🙂 All the best Steve
@@westlondongardener4476 My pleasure, it's not an exact science but it definitely helps, it's like a forest or hedgerow, the greater the diversity the healthier the ecosystem and ultimately the plants. Enjoy this slight reprieve in the weather 🙂
