LIGHT WEIGHT CAMPING TRAILER BUILD PART 9
After lots of work and designing, I came to the conclusion that I need to use ISO Panels for doors which is robust and light weight as my goal is to keep the TARRA of the trailer under 350kg.
Then we did a colour change on the trailer and used RAPTOR Paint to respray the whole trailer.

What is your thoughts on the color?
Just curious, is this your daily driver? How is the consumption on it?
@@farmerandy82 it is my wifes daily, she gets around 10.3L/100km, as soon as you drive far (holidays) you get around 9L/100km which I think is not bad for the 3.2 6spd auto
@@MountainmanBuildz not bad at all, I was looking at getting the 2.2 at some stage to use on the farm and maybe long distance touring, compared to hilux prices its either Ford or Nissan for me, but keep in mind i daily drove 120km in an old defender, so eks maar bietjie weird
@ hahaha 120km in a defender is like 1000km in a citi golf in the summer with no AC... The 2.2 is nice, quite a bit on the down side with power but does manage around 8.5L/100km on the non 4x4, the 4x4 get 9.5L/100km. I know this as we have a whole fleet of rangers 😂
@ oh so you're the perfect guy to ask for advice then! Seriously thanks for this info
@ always a pleasure. Welcome to send me an email with your number and I will contact you.
Ag shame, buy a Hilux.
After putting a new pcb there was no gear shifting on this video, where did you find this problem afterwards?
I have had a problem with 2018 charger 3.6 oil pump solenoid stuck on high. First off always use the recommended 5/20 oil, not the approved 5/30 alternate. Also make sure never overfilled. I have found that adding 1/2 quart of dexron atf to the engine oil and exercising the solenoid by warming up, then quickly reving the engine and hold at 3000 rpm then watching the pressure drop. Return to idle then repeat. Doing this several times has proven for me at this time to unstick the solenoid and engine light goes away. This may also work for stuck on low? I will be adding 1/2 quart of dexron atf to my oil at each oil change from now on unless the problem returns again. Dexron ATF is a highly detergent lubricant and is safe to add in your oil unless you have an old motor with sludge buildup.
I drove mine for a year with the error popping up at random. Unfortunely the coil inside the solenoid burns and pack up, so the problem gets worse over time. It doesnt physically get stuck, its more the coil that just have no more power to open up and the ecm picks up the low/high resistance and then throws errors
The only oil you should put in a 3.6 is 5w30 Pennzoil ultra platnium. I dont care what the damm oil cap says.
You can buy an updated transmission pcb ,from memory mine came from WJ diag .
I did buy one eventually, it solved almost all the issues, but still had to change the conductor plate. Working geeat now
@ You shouldn’t have recorded your WJ with the silencer removed it’s given me ideas . I think I’m going to go under my WJ with the hacksaw ,if the neighbours or my wife complain about the noise I can say it was your idea .
@ im actually thinking of just adding a small resonator box, the turbo spool is a bit too much
Can u please help me bybass my skim unit on my jeep cherokee overland 2.7 L diesel. It has a crank no start or starts then switches off. I'm in Cape Town. Please help, I'm very desperate. Thank u
If your Jeeps wings over and starts, you dont have a SKIM problem, this sounds a lot like an issue with a Crank sensor or even a loose wire on the injectors. These 2.7s have a closed loop on the injectors, which mean, if your engine is running and you pull one injector plug, it will switch the engine off to save it from damage. I would start by looking at the Injectors loom first.
Hi brother can perhaps give a bit more specific info on how you connected the wiring from the fuse box please. And did you disconnect the pcm completely? Why is it just hanging? I want to do the same as you did but I need a bit more info especially on the wiring please
Thanks for the video it's worth a shot. But can you explain how that fixed the overheating issue?
Can you rebuild one for me
Tire mounting has always been the issue with me, getting strong enough bracket
J’ai aussi un 2,7crd et je connais bien ce modèle de jeep. Je suis en France et les diesel est bien répandu donc les problèmes sont vite connu et résolu. Si je peux t’aider n’hésite pas!! Tu as un nouvel abonné
Thank you, parts for the 2.7 is also quite available around here, the 3.1TD is not so available. My Jeep is running now, but it still needs some things here and there. I will tackle all that a bit later. Thank you for the support💪
Good job! I have the same model, 2003 limited and its worth .
The marking of the diode is clear, the resistance of the resistors is also clear, but what power should the resistors be (0.25W-0.50W-1W)? Is there any difference?
Nice video!
@@Richardhenryhoffman thanks bud
Let me just say happy liberation from the womb day to you! Congrats on turning 21 (and a couple months)
Thanks! I guess I'll be celebrating my 22nd birthday soon 😂
@@MountainmanBuildz oh no, it doesn’t work like that, I turn 21 every year, nobody needs to know that it’s happened more than 20 times 😜
Thank you for the great video. Would going ahead and replacing whole pump be that much more work than you've already done?
@@lancecarroll81 thanks for the comment replacing the whole pump is the same amount of work. But replacing the whole pump is so much more expensive, so I would only replace it if I have real oul pump issues, which is rare
I also have oil in my airbox, and seems to have terrible fuel efficiency now. Not sure what direction to go.
@ oil in airbox would suggest blow by, check your breather pipe that goes into the airpb if it has oil in it. Also remove your oil cap while jeep is idling, and see if there is vapour coming out, it will also suggest blowby. It could be your rings are worn. What is your mileage?
Stable forgiving frame ,or should I say engine? I have a 98 for decades now...same exact rake trail and wheelbase as 916 it was sorta meant to clone while less track oriented but stronger much better motor on VTR.
That balls looking to get in that dress.
I have the exact same vehicle and have a black smoke problem. Could u please demonstrate more causes and diy fixes. Also, could u please recommend a reliable, honest and fair mechanic based in Cape Town for service. Thanx so much for your videos.
Thank you, I do not know any mechies in CT, Im based in PTA, but will be doing a lot more vids related to these issues. Black smoke is related to injectors unfortunately, but not all is lost tho. Thanks for watching.
Hi would you mind explaining what you used as an adapter in order to fit the cone filter please ,I have a very similar filter sitting on a shelf in my garage?.
@ its a 76mm and I just soaked the rubber part in boiling water and then made it fit 🤣
Had injector fault and it eventually burned a hole in 5th piston. So basically a same story on mine. New engine in and had first start today, still some work to finish it up. Have 6.5" long arm lift, so If you have any questions about lifting crd wj I probably have answer to them😀
Hi, yeah thats a big issue. Atleast your riding again. I will be looking at a small lift first and later move on to big lift, we dont have long arms etc available in South Africa for the WJ, so will have to engineer and make my own
Any advice would be appreciated
Hi Am having an issue with my wj. May you please recommend a mechanic
But only, if like me, you try to do it with the airbox etc. in place. Duh.
It is a fiddle, especially if the inlet manifold rubber has gone hard. It helps if you have gynecological training and can wallpaper your hallway through the letterbox...
Thank you for this video my friend! Solved my problem immediately 🍻
Cheers!🍻 Glad I could help.
Hello, "Mountainman Buildz" I saw your channel and saw that in your channel have some problems, not many. For these problems your channel is not growing. If you can solve these problems, Your channel will grow like a storm. Do you want to know these problem? If you Want to know, I can only tell to you. Can I tell here or email?
It is really worth investing in oem engine mounts. Either buy 4.7 oem ones from rock auto and cut them for the mopar rubber, which you press on your brackets… or buy new ones from mercedes - oem mounts are in fact an mb part, although the rubber in them is again mopar, even now in 2024. They might be pricey (around 800 usd), but totally worth it. I had two sets of after market bushings pressed in my brackets and the engine vibrations were just awful, to the point sitting in traffic lights was giving me a headache. I was fed up and secured an OEM set of brand new MB engine mounts and the difference is just day and night. The 612 is now purring so softly that at some point of time when returning to idle I have the feeling the engine shut down.
I will definitely get some OEM ones soon, I saw they even sell on Amazon? What do you think of that? The vibrations at idle is hectic, but Im just glad its running now
Very interesting, thanks, I have a 2.7 CRD with similar probs, changed solenoid block but still not right, will now change conductor plate...Im in France by the way.
The PCB was my issue, ordered from Estonia and it fixed everything. Good luck
@@MountainmanBuildz Ok thanks for your reply, do you have a link for the PCB please..
SOOOOO glad to see it eventually turned your way and you got her running like a champ again ! I told you diesel powaaaa is the way to go, Ive been telling you for how long 😉 I see a Triton vs Jeep Cherokee video in the near future...
Yeah, we had a lot of discussions, and should have done what we both knew from the start 😂 Im always game for a collab when tour back
Witam,co było przyczyną dymienia bo nie znam twojego języka a wiadomości przetłumaczę,mam takiego samego jeep i jestem zadowolony
Hi, it was a piston that was broken and damaged the head
Dzięki wielkie za odpowiedź,działaj dalej ,czekam na filmy💪💪💪
Its been a long road and its true about your no love for diesels i was the same as well but now im also opened up to them cant wait to see whats next
I cant believe it took me this long. But I learned a lot
To be honest with you, I think it was worth it. I own the same jeep with the same OM612 motor and it is lovely. My build is much different, my jeep is build for power: Multimap ECU, OFgear TCU, bigger turbo, intercooler, fuel delivery and NX NOS (only as turbo spool aid). But if it ever blows I would swap it for OM648 3.2CDI. I live in Europe so merecedes parts and engines are cheap snd plenty.
Wow, would be interested to know more about your mods.
For the price I'd say it's definitely worth it, now you know that vehicle better than most and you get the wonderful opportunity to modify it as you like. Can't wait for the bumper build videos!
Yeah, it's going to be a fun project for sure.
GOOD JOB !
Thank you
Looks like you finally won it.
Yes finally...
Sal graag met jou in kontak wil kom vir raad. Ek self het n old smokey WJ maar ek vermoed dis my injector 3 wat over fuel. Baie lekker kar as hy ry maar blerrie iriteerend as iets breek

Very true
didnt work for me
Awesome !!!!! That's Great , Just great sounding 5 cylinder motors.
Thanks, at last... so mods can start soon
I congratulate you and eagerly await your videos, I drive an original jeep 2.7 with 450 thousand km of mileage that has only been repaired with injectors and turbos. I enjoy driving it very much. Make sure your turbo is not overheating, that the air and oil inlet outlet channels and your intercooler are clean. If you already have a loose shaft, it may have gotten stuck on the surrounding surface and loosened it.
Thank you. Thats amazing mileage, my old engine sat on 317k km. I do also think the turbo got stuck, I will keep a spare turbo and injectors just in case. Planning on some crazy upgrades for the jeep
Its never ending isn't it 🤣🤣 Still don't know why we do it to ourselves 🤣
Will we ever know? Atleast we enjoy it... sometimes 😂
If you get another person to clamp and strangulate the return hose of the injector rail, pressure will build up much more quickly and easily. Try it next time
Awesome, thanks for that tip, Will try it
Nee man! At least you're making progress, but it's almost as if the jeep is trying to tell you something (No it's definitely not saying you should've bought a Toyota)
Haha. Its a small setback. Will win it, even if it plays hard to get. But the engine does run so smooth, Im very happy
@@MountainmanBuildz it sure sounded brilliant and obviously no longer in the mood to set up a smoke screen. Now get back to work and get it running! And let me know when you're in limpopo so I can buy you a beer!
That sounds awesome. Thanks for the motovation throughout all the videos. I have never worked this long on a vehicle before. But I pushed through and we made it
What do you think caused the turbo nut to come loose?
Was not tightened well by the specs od Nm after rebuilt
@@JozefKras the turbo wasnt rebuild, it was used on the old engine.
New spark plugs
Hmmm i think its time you send me that engine lol
@@jacquesnieuwoudt6883 haha, its a small hiccup 😅
Did you have a catch can ?!!
Is that an oil catch can?
if you have a healthy engine you don't need to install it, and certainly not on such long hoses because it has some significance - I read about it but I don't remember - I had it installed but I dismantled it and deleted the EGR - clean intake 263k miles without engine overhaul
a healthy turbine is essential and now I am changing the oil from 5W40 synthetic to 10W40 semi-synthetic - apparently the top works better
