For the price I'd say it's definitely worth it, now you know that vehicle better than most and you get the wonderful opportunity to modify it as you like. Can't wait for the bumper build videos!
To be honest with you, I think it was worth it. I own the same jeep with the same OM612 motor and it is lovely. My build is much different, my jeep is build for power: Multimap ECU, OFgear TCU, bigger turbo, intercooler, fuel delivery and NX NOS (only as turbo spool aid). But if it ever blows I would swap it for OM648 3.2CDI. I live in Europe so merecedes parts and engines are cheap snd plenty.
SOOOOO glad to see it eventually turned your way and you got her running like a champ again ! I told you diesel powaaaa is the way to go, Ive been telling you for how long 😉 I see a Triton vs Jeep Cherokee video in the near future...
It is really worth investing in oem engine mounts. Either buy 4.7 oem ones from rock auto and cut them for the mopar rubber, which you press on your brackets… or buy new ones from mercedes - oem mounts are in fact an mb part, although the rubber in them is again mopar, even now in 2024. They might be pricey (around 800 usd), but totally worth it. I had two sets of after market bushings pressed in my brackets and the engine vibrations were just awful, to the point sitting in traffic lights was giving me a headache. I was fed up and secured an OEM set of brand new MB engine mounts and the difference is just day and night. The 612 is now purring so softly that at some point of time when returning to idle I have the feeling the engine shut down.
I will definitely get some OEM ones soon, I saw they even sell on Amazon? What do you think of that? The vibrations at idle is hectic, but Im just glad its running now
Had injector fault and it eventually burned a hole in 5th piston. So basically a same story on mine. New engine in and had first start today, still some work to finish it up. Have 6.5" long arm lift, so If you have any questions about lifting crd wj I probably have answer to them😀
Hi, yeah thats a big issue. Atleast your riding again. I will be looking at a small lift first and later move on to big lift, we dont have long arms etc available in South Africa for the WJ, so will have to engineer and make my own
