Making the LDRC GTR Drift Better
This base model LDRC RWD Drift Car needs a lot of work to drift better.
I didn't film cutting out the battery box, but I just used a box cutter and cut it off. Then put the battery cover back on the bottom and add some glue to get some rigidity back in the chassis.
I ended up ripping out all of the electronics and using my own. All of these electronics I had in my parts bin so I tried to not spend any money on it.
For example I use the Futaba on all of my 1/10 cars, so i just velcro'd in the receiver to this car.

LDRC NSX - First Impressions + Servo Test
Переглядів 1,3 тис.21 день тому
LDRC NSX 1803 1/18 RC RWD DRIFT CAR - It needed some tweaking right out of the box, but not a terribly set up car. I added the Dasmikro v5 gyro immediately, since these cars essentially require an external gyro in order to drift properly. Also tested out the plug-n-play Surpass Hobby Servo... disappointed in its performance. Just stick with the stock servo! LDRC NSX (Affiliate) s.click.aliexpre...

Is this onisiki daruma gyro? Or different onisiki model?
hello, can you write what size the ball tips of this model
hello what gyro is best to buy?
ive ordered the v6 instead of the v5 and it dosent work right it justs centers to middle and dosent do anything when you rotate it
@@user-km3dj4bu3p hmm I’m not familiar with the v6 gyro sorry!
Have you upgraded the gyro ? 😊
@@MrSethberg yes. I turn off the built in gyro. I use the dasmikro v5 gyro
I've said it before but it doesn't hurt to repeat: Your videos are excellent. Thank you for the effort you put into these 👍🏻
@@PeterHewat thank you!
Kinda fast too ❤
please help me i bought a nsx but i don't know how much time the battery, i wanted to replace the stock battery. what do you recommend me to use at car ?
@@MrTiago1surf the stock battery seems to work fine for me. I only changed the battery on this car because the new esc required it
Great video's for these basic mods! I just bought the 1899 (Nissan Skyline) and it drove terrible!. In the end it all came down to suspension with too much friction resulting in irregular surface contact of the wheels. I do wonder what material your tires are made of. I see a mold parting line in the middle of the tire and it looks like rubber. I have the hard plastic tires and could use slightly more grip on my slippery floor. There seem to be different tire compounds for these cars and different diameters but I have not been able to figure out which will fit and where to buy. Only a short video on youtube mentioning some of the types.
@@jmzwiers Maybe I should make a video showing the different tires. They are all a bit different.
@@APEXRCGARAGEthat would be awesome! I think there's lots of drivers of these cars that don't even know there are different tire compounds, let alone which tire fits on which car. I hope you can find some time to share your knowledge about the wheels/tires.
Hey Brother keep the mods coming, and build on !
Man you’re killing it with these. My pair of them just showed up. Gotta get em dialed. Bangood screwed me sent me the non-Gyro non-drift tire version and charged me more than it’s worth
Well done dawg🫱🏾🫲🏿 you make my custom LDRC look like crap compare to yours haha
@APEXRCGARAGE Is the nsx chassis the same width as the rx7. I'm wondering if it will be as easy to increase the steering angle in the nsx as the rx7.
@@kam5484 Yes, I should have mentioned that in the video. The RX7 and the NSX are the same chassis. They are slightly wider than the ae86 and gtr. They are easier to increase the steering angle
Came here to ask the same. Have the 86 and the RX7. The Mazda is substantially better than the 86 due to the wider track and geometry overall. Also better on how the tires don't rub so easily on the wheelarches. Not even with the fender covers they added for the FC. I'm not 100% with the NSX's stance. Looks odd. As if it was asking for a wider rear track and/or tires. Let alone the slammed rear vs lifted front. It looks too "RC-drifty" stanced to me. Pity as the mold looks the best of them all (lights on the Rx7 look "sad" due to the excessive curvature of the hood-front bumper). Making the suspension symmetrical and cycle well through the stroke evenly on either side is all it took me to make these chassis work really well. Loved it even more once I did your Dasmikro gyro. Thanks!
@@APEXRCGARAGE thx so much
Bro how does the cars with the same frequency do not interfere with each other
Not sure, I just turned them on and they don’t interfere with each other
Sub channels on each frequency
I got ripped off on mine. Ordered the Paul walker they sent the black one no gyro no drift tires.
Dang that sucks
After I saw your videos I ordered my rx-7 yesterday. Will fit in a proper gyro and I can't wait to start practicing. Great channel bro. Keep posting 👊👊👊👊👊
Whats the thing thats hanging when u hit
bruh I didnt buy the adapters
damn.
@@APEXRCGARAGE I just ordered them, maybe I should try being more financially responsible
how the heck do you pull out the cable for them lights

Will this method work on the rwd to?

Awesome Footage my Friend! Cool Unboxing and Review
What website did you get this from and do you know what scale it is?
Aliexpress 1/18 scale
Very nice car bro ❤😂😂
New Sub Broo 😂😂
hello, i have the ldrc rx7 and the plastic gears are giving be trouble they are not always griping each other and when i hit gas thhe rear wheels dont go. i need to buy new ones or preferably ones made out of metal do you know where to buy some?
I'd try aliexpress
Hi, i also got the GTR but not the base model. It comes with a gyro, a more sofisticated remote and a nice carrying bag. One of the remote buttons toggles steering angle. Low: like your video and hight: like my RX7. I'll check tomorrow if it has the same blastic parts as you or if they are metal.
Hi again, I checked and my blue GT-R indeed has ballbearings, metal rods, etc. As others have said, the base model probably isn't the best choice. And as you said, the RX-7 and NSX are better anyways. I got the GT-R to have all modals (I have the "top end" AE86 as well)
Good to know! Thanks for posting this. It seems the cars with gyros built in are just better all around. Too bad its so hard to tell when buying them
Really useful video. But can we have quieter music less time please? I struggled to hear what you were saying some times
I'll work on my audio levels, thanks for the feedback!

Hello , I have watched most of your videos, and love your channel. Where did you get the tester from? I’ve been trying to locate one, to test my brushless AE 86 !
Thanks!! Are you referring to the “dyno”? If so, it’s an old Tamiya Mini 4WD Speed Checker. Not sure if they make them anymore.
Where you buy dasmikro v5 guro
I've found them on aliexpress. watch my video "Is this the Best Micro Drift Gyro? LDRC Dasmikro v5" for more info on the gyro
Do u sell a ready made kit like this with all these mods?
No I don't, maybe in the future I could do something like that

Best content about the LDRC 1:18 at the moment! 🎉
The style of Your Videos is great! Fun to watch! Do You know the Surpass Hobby 9g also? Is it similar?
I did try the Surpass Hobby servo in my NSX video. Its plug n play, there is not modification needed to get it to fit. But for some reason it performed worse than the stock NSX servo. Not sure why, these cheap electronics can be finicky.
@@APEXRCGARAGE Ah ok, thanks a lot. So I will buy the Injori!
Great drifting! Choose a different Gyro. The onisiki is ok but not really good. Better use a gyro with avcs mode. Cheap and good: DumboRC G03, better: gt55racing v4 or v5, best: Futaba GYD450 or newer... They all eleminate wobbling even with a worse servo. But: A better servo is nevertheless a good idea. The stock servo is bad.
Great video. Very informative. I like it better with the text rather than commentary which has a tendency to go off on a blabbering tangent (not you specifically but commentaries in general) Looking forward to the next video on this GTR series.
I sure hope I didn’t order the one that has zero steering angle fml. Well just searched. What a joke. So these are different. Fml
Upgrade the receiver to unlock full steering
Find a v1.3 Board and u can use your white label transmitter. You'll unlock full range of steering and have Gyro control.
When getting this version you’re probably best off with the grey or blue car. They come with a nicer transmitter thats able to adjust the steering angle and gyro and it’s an amazing car for the price. I’m enjoying it a lot
Good to know! I've pinned your comment!
I changed my reciever with a V1.3 on my Black GTR. & Its able to use same transmitter with white label & adjust gyro & steering.
The v1.3 reciever unlocks full steering also. Add some bearings and itl drift nicely.
@@pmilitary047glad to hear it works like a charm like mine does! Hope u enjoy it as much as i do
@@jessevanrooij6584 had a whole lot of fun seeing the improvements and then seeing it drift as good as the Blue version.
Great video! Youre right, out of the box this skyline isnt a good drifter. It either spins out or doesnt want to turn. I wrapped the front wheels in electrical tape for more grip and installed your extended wheel axles with spacers for a wider front stance. I can at least do some power slides now. Do need more angle tho, so will be installing your extended servo arm as well. Worked like magic on RX7. Will see how it fits the R34. Dont think ill be upgrading the gyro as the stock one is doing a pretty good job at about 75%. Due to how heavy this car is its better suited for higher speed slides, wheareas the RX7 is very nimble at lower speeds and easier to toss into the right direction. I definitely agree with you to go for RX7/NSX as theyre better drifters, but man this body is just too good looking to not have one in the RC garage.
welp. I didn't realize these already dropped. ughh *logs into paypal* you're a bad influence my dude xD <3
when's the Miata droppin? lol
haha no idea!
Very cool video. Great comparsion. Thanks a lot!!! My RX7 arrived today. I will make a drift project video series about it. ❤ I follow You now and looking forward ro Your series about this car.
I love my rx7. glued in tge bearings for less play and i love taking it for a spinn every now and then. R34 diesnt look too great tho...
Yeah i still think the RX7 or NSX is the go to
I got an ldrc nissan gtr out of the box today and have the same thing at the beginning, and I need the external gyro already lol
Is the gyro in the nsx better than the rx7?
In both cars I am using the Dasmikro v5 gyro
@@APEXRCGARAGE sorry I meant to say servo! Do you need the conversion cables or can I just cut and solder the cables?
@@nightzelmods Gotcha, I think the stock servo in the NSX is better than the stock servo that came in my RX7. Not sure why, they look identical. You could try and solder the cables, but I've never done it! So I'm not 100% sure it would work
slow turn with what sensitivity? i use slow turn with 40% sensitivity so it wont wobble (with surpass servo btw)
Not sure, I didnt adjust the sensitivity when i swapped over the servo. If I had to guess it was around 50%
I got my NSX all I’ve done is camber / dasmikro gyro ….. it’s awesome not gonna touch it anymore lol!! My rx7 is still a hit or miss, about to reinstall the stock board back into it lol 😂
