Random creative ideas, tips, inventions, systems or new products. I often I build ridiculous things for fun.
Most of these videos are quick-and-dirty proof-of-concepts which I hope people can use, alter, and improve to fit their need.
I have plenty of stupid ideas, and more failures than successes.
I hope my experience can help you in some way.

DIY Generator Sound Dampener Reduces Noise by 45%
This homemade Generator sound dampener (muffler) reduces noise by 45%. We test this claim with Decibel readings and data analysis. We use thermal imaging to determine the risks of overheating, which prove to be minimal: an 8 degree F increase in directly-measured motor temp when the generator is operating at a 25% wattage load.
Conclusion: this thing works, and use it with discretion. If it's 114 degrees outside, maybe avoid it.
I standby my statement that all CO alarms on portable outdoor generators cause harm and should be deleted. I believe companies are acting unethically by continuing to produce and promote CO alarms on outdoor generators.

For those who don't know, Thermite is often used to weld railway rails, but can also be used to melt and cast iron into molds. Fun stuff! ...but dangerous. Use with adult supervision.
Gotta wonder how many lists I'm on for this to pop up in my recommended . I'll just take this opprotunity to say that my FBI agent is a welfare queen 😋
Blasphemy, no such thing as too much macgyver. Unless youre talking about the reboot
Dude this shit is NOT recommended lol.... yall crazy af
Hi FBI, Im just here for scientific research.
Pro tip.. dont stair directly at the ignition. pro tip #2 use magnesium strips or high temp flack wire for lighting. pro tip #3 dont do this if you dont know what you're doing.
Bet this dude has a cabin in the woods with some real interesting shit inside 😂 jk jk jk hahahaha
Well, I was already on the list, now Santa Fed's gonna check it twice to make sure I'm being extra naughty, not nice.
Blame the YT algorithm not me MR. FBI guy
Inside top of can try using either Stainless steel mesh epoxied int the top as a spark limiter or possibly coarse Stainless steel wool/scrubber. Have tou thought about either Kao wool instead of PoP on the walls before epoxy or aireated concrete like you can make for a forge.
LOL...too funny fellow lister!
I bought the kit, and it changed my life! Girls talk to me. (Ewww! Get away! Who are you? I'm calling 911!) I made new friends! (Some guy called a court-ordered therapist.) I grew hair! (In various places, Mom said I would, eventually...) And I had the coolest 4th of July display in my neighborhood! (The cops said you can only have the "4th of July" on July 4th. And that some trick-or-treaters costumes are flammable, and little kids can't run fast. My bad...)
Baahahaha
Either use a frosting bag for the top layer of PoP or even put a sandwich bag in a cup fill it then make a small cut in 1 corner dies the same thing and should make application easier in the can
And THIS is Another Example.....why We Subscribed to This Channel. 🍕🍺🍕🍺🍺🍺

I love you to pookie and merry Christmas 🎄 😊
I absolutely LOVE this channel!!😎
2db of a million db is less % than 1db of 100db.
I'm just going to hazard a guess that you're not shipping these kits internationally! Because I would absolutely love to have one, but living in a country that doesn't allow people to even have calcium carbide at home without a metric shit-ton of permits this is absolutely not gonna fly 😒 Sure wish it did! 😂 Merry Christmas man! 🎄😄

Right. What does the higher heat do to the efficiency of the generator though?
Hello fbi
Buddy, just build yourself a generator room if you've got to run it that much Best way to soundproof is a room inside of a room
I live in a van. Moving constantly
Time to build a baffled tube with the same material. Should quiet down quite a bit more. The panel you built is a great idea but you are diverting the sound sideways, would be interesting to see the db from the side. The one commenter that said to put it into an insulated container is on to something, combine it with a fabric exhaust baffle to really cut down all around noise. Just throwing out ideas.
The reason the percentage is higher for the second one is due to it being louder but still dropping the same amount of decibels. If I have two jars of water, one with a gallon, the other one with two gallons, I can remove half a gallon from each, but the percentage I remove will be different. The jar with one gallon will have half the amount removed while the jar with two gallons will only have a quarter of the amount removed. I hope my explanation helps and makes sense
Love you too byyyyyye
This should be commercially available. What generator doesn't need a sound dampener? They all do 👍
I got mine in a large plastic storage bin. It’s bigger enough to have three Ryobi 1800 watt generators. I added fire retardant sound dampening insulation all over the inside. I added an attic fan to the top to suck out the hot air and exhaust. I added a piece of wood over the intake of the exhaust fan, that’s about 2 inches away. To baffle the sound. I’ve also added intake ports all round the bottom. When I have all three generators running, the only thing you hear is a lite humming. Generator not over heating, air being circulating and pulled out. But most importantly it’s quiet.
I'm not a physicist but following a simple logic the sound does not grow linearly 30db is like wispering but 130db is a landing jet plane. Four whispering people won't be anywhere as loud as jumbo jet i think even a hundred won't be suficient so cuting off a few decibels from the top of scale might be a suficient decrease overall.
Was just about to build a little doghouse for my generator. Looks like I’ll be adding some baffles.
Build a somewhat sound proof box to put the genny in silly. Protects it from the elements too.
Guess I’m making a generator sound dampener this weekend
Gas generators have no place in a situation where you'd want your generator to be quiet. Electrical is vastly superior with regard to thermal and audible signature.
I say respectfully, that statement is wrong and confusing. Gas generators are ubiquitous and the quieter the better. Furthermore, an "electrical generator" is a battery, in simple terms. Show me an "Electrical generator' that can run a space heater for more than 30 min.
@InventionIncarnate You done need a space heater to survive and it does matter in a world of widespread thermal drones and HMT thermals.
Be careful of that wool stuff when cutting. Great video and idea!
It looks innocent, but is really brutal. If you handle it without gloves your hands start to get sore from all the microscopic ceramic shards. I’d hate to see what that does to your lungs
@InventionIncarnate it's not good, can cause cancers. I was looking a building a forge with the stuff, you need to paint it with special paint to stop the fibres from going in your lungs. It should be ok for this usage as it's covered in something.
I thought it was measured in square law, here's something I found. According to the inverse square law, it can be shown that for each doubling of distance from a point source, the sound pressure level decreases by approximately 6 dB. Examples of points sources could include valves, small pumps and motors
A homemade sound proof box works wonders outside my cabin. Close by and protected from the elements too.
its a natural logarithm, so log base 10. I think each dB is 10x greater than the dB before it
@InventionIncarnate I remember reading it's not as straightforward forward as the metric system aha
