You're definitely the king of homemade smoke devices.

Just ran into your channel and just love the content you produce. Just ordered a pull ignition kit from you. Going to order a few more for my cousins once I received mine. Thanks for doing this man!!!

4:33 "I stole from the military". 😂 we call it requisitioning. Good stuff. Thanks for the short cuts.

This is great! The trial, error, and adjustment iteration process is just "how it's done." I think that besides blocking the combustion products, and filtering out the dye, the "ash matrix" is probably also trapping heat, insulating the combustion front, edge, or layer, call it whatever... and that extra heat from the ash matrix slowing the ejecting smoke keeps it hotter for longer, causing the dye molecules to break down into simpler combustion products and not having the color anymore.
As you note, the cooler Chlorate oxidizer is A#1 key, so the dye vaporizes, but isn't chemically destroyed or altered, and can condense back into particles bigger than 390-750nm (violet through red light wavelengths) and be visible.
Looking around at some of the record holders for "coldest flames" & combustion fuels... then looking about at those for one that's "common" and not super-duper toxic or expensive, n-butyl acetate keeps showing up in searches.
Downside, it's a volatile liquid. Upside, it's pretty benign, and is even found in fruits, albeit in low concentration. Still, like any VOC, don't huff it. 🤤
But.. with a flame temp of only about 225°C, it's damn appealing to consider. If some sort of gel suspension with oxidizer & dye, maybe even some H2O as a moderator & energy dump to keep trying to rein it in back to 100°C... if that's possible. 🤔 I am, at this point otally off "in the weeds" obviously... 😂

Just received my 3rd order and some extra goodies like m228 grenade fuse and wire pull ignition kit. I have to say you have passion for this passion and i am the same as already accumulated lot of chemicals and hardware to start my experiments lol😂 . Thnx for the prompt shipment and the passion for the hobby

Would be great cover from a drone swarm as long as they didn't have thermals. The "Vampire" or Baba Yaga is the only drone publicly known to use thermals.

Great Stuff, you should also work out a recipe for black smoke while you're at it.

    For similar red, non uses disperse reds, try the formula 25 chlort 35 lactose 10 Rhodamine B 20 Sudan 1 ( Solvent yellow 14 ) ;
The Rhodamine existent 2 types, solvent red 49 and basic rhodamine, I always recommend solvent dye.

Can we have a drone shot next smoke video?
I would love to see the cloud from above view.
    Also like the stealth smoke.
Way more effective then regular, since we all need smoke to move from A 2 B
Would love a new video from scratch? I need to watch 4a5 video's to create one smoke device.
    Materials , ignition, formula's, etc..
And don't forget miss barbie in that 😂

I need a video or a pdf with the steps to make these smoke devices. I mean potato level sourcing the materials. Best canister options. Everything! I mean literally step one: Cut a hole in the box… Etc.

Have you ever tried out the TNT or Phantom brand colored smokes they sell? I picked up some for a couple bucks a piece, both pull start and flame required starters from a parking lot tent a couple times, and for the size and price, the colors were pretty good. and i'm sure if you live near one of the physical stores they'd have em

Thinking about signalling in the bush (forest, woods) the thickness of these is great, speed of release means a block of colour is visible.
I just pictured a faster hotter version that lets its smoke rise with heat like an orange mushroom cloud.
Any thoughts on an instantaneous signal?

Ran across a soup can smoke grenade top (stl/print file). Unfortunately, it sucks but I think that is a terrific idea. Something easily printable, cheap and disposable. Spoon type that you don’t have to worry about losing components to. If any of you guys come across a good one, would be a cool share!!!
    Thanks

Loved McGuyver so much as a kid, but holy crap that show was bad. Nice smoke bro, ever consider like reuasable massive glycol vaporizer. Like a big ass vape, I want to do it but funds kinda tight rn.
