    We need to respect the diversity of fuses and celebrate the equity of the cross fuses in quality ignition.
    I really like the medium cannon fuse with that wire... it seems like it would help promote reliable ignition with the glowing hot wire.

    great content. immediately subscribed when I saw the part where you create your own pull igniters

    Something I'd really like is a thinner propper time fuse. I'd use it so much more, especially with smaller experimental caps.

      Skylighter has a slightly thinner one. With a narrower powder core. Are you talking super thin like less than 3/16?

    There's a fireworks shop down the road from me and they sell a lot of different fuses. They also sell "electric matches" which act as a poor man's blasting cap. You should try some of those too.

    • @chemistryofquestionablequa6252
      @chemistryofquestionablequa6252 2 місяці тому

      Not a blasting cap, that would contain a high explosive. They're great igniters though, I use them pretty regularly.

      Yes, that's why I referred to it as a "poor man's blasting cap".

    • @chemistryofquestionablequa6252

      @@RicArmstrong you can use them to ignite a blasting cap (I make lots of experimental ones) but the cap itself is a separate device and the e-match ignites it, but an e-match won't perform the role of a cap.

    I’ve been working on using shrink tubing to insulate for gas leaks on Chynese time fuse on the “perimeter alarm mousetrap fuses”

      You can pack microcrystalline cellulose, chalk, flour, any not very flammable powder around the fuse where it travels through the fuze body.

      As expensive as Skylighter is, their 1/4 Chinese time fuse is significantly less leak prone, however, due to its narrower powder core, often needs primer on crossmatched visco fuses. Usually, visco is not used as a crossmatch (for the record) but I do it constantly

    The wired one was really interesting and that’s my pick overall. Were do you shop for your smoke composition ingredients? Like do I have to buy all the stump killer at my local hardware or is there better options out there that clearly I’m not savvy too?

      pyro chem supply, fireworks cookbook, skylighter, and some others that I can't remember rn.

    • @InventionIncarnate
      @InventionIncarnate  2 місяці тому +1

      I’d check pyrocreations and fireworks cookbook and compare. And stock up on potassium chlorate over potassium nitrate if intended for smoke devices.
      Skylighter was cool and well designed website however, their shipping is totally effed up. Different prices between CC and Apple Pay and all items ship at the hazmat price level because their checkout application can’t differentiate. I ship commercially every day and when I say high, I mean HIGH AF. I contacted them and they did not indicate they would fix it.

    I'm trying to use a 22lr case as a primer for a smoke device but having issues reliably lighting fuse. I'm going to have to try and get some different brands but I was wondering if you had any suggestions on what I could prime the fuse with.

      1) check my website free PDF’s for a bunch of useful primer info. Before you go too far/spend money unnecessarily also check out my pdf on rearming m-228 fuzes (it’s worth the $3) because that might change your approach. As I changed my approach when I found a better (imo) alternative.
      2) before you buy anything shoot me an email inventionincarnate@gmail.com
      3) the 22 ramset powder charges with the crimped end snipped off and powder dumped out work to ignite visco as long as the visco is positioned all the way back and the casing needs to stay open to vent around the fuse or else it will push it out before igniting.
      4)
      I’d personally prime fuse with a dip of
      7 parts potassium chlorate
      3 parts lampblack
      1 part Antimony Trisulfide
      With Nitrocellulose lacquer binder
      HOWEVER, that primer mixture is impact and friction sensitive (academically) and there are safer alternatives even as simple as 50/50 potassium nitrate/sucrose in a PVA glue suspension.
