Grilling on My New BushBox LF Twig Stove
Переглядів 8 тис.2 місяці тому
I recently purchased a Bush Box Lf twig stove from Bushcraft Essentials along with a small stainless steel grill. This is my first time using either piece of cooking gear and I was pleasantly surprised with the success of the experiment. A really compact little stove , easy to use and provided a great way to cook on a fire. Something I believe I will use quite a lot. #bushboxlf #cookingoverfire...

Overnight Campout plus- Viewer Suggestions in Action

I am so grateful for all the wonderful viewer suggestions I receive. I had the opportunity to revisit a wonderful campsite and to implement several of your suggestions. On top of that I had an absolutely beautiful 8 km fall hike around this island with my friend Lynne, a warm campfire and a warm overnight. #womencamping #newcastleisland
How to Brighten Up a Gray Day- take a hike!

Woke up to a gray and drizzly day. To brighten my mood I knew I needed to get outside. Milo was happy to come along on a a fall day hike to breath some fresh air and get some exercise, medicine for the mind, body and soul. With up a hike up a local hill, a walk beside a lovely lake and great company we both returned home happy and content. #hiking #womenhike #doglife

We set out with our rescue dog Milo for 2 nights in the van. His first such camp out we believe. We arrived to a significant wind and rain storm which made being outside very uncomfortable and somewhat unsafe. Come along and see how we managed and how or if Milo adapted. It wasn't without its challenges. #vancamping #campingwithdogs #stormcamping

After a drive from the east side of Vancouver Island to the west side in the van I arrived at Pachena Beach Campground for a great camp right on the beach . My best Mentor in life always said "Grownin' old is all in the mind, Julie, all in the mind", and being 74, I know that that is not completely true, but denial is very helpful, deny, deny, deny, lol, that's what I do ! Wow, I love that hammock tent ! Enjoy, Wendy, you are lucky because you know how to appreciate ! Thanks for sharing.

    I think this is terrific, what you are doing ! I'm 74 and have a camper van that I've taken across Canada and back, one way with a companion, and back alone, taking a month to do it. I have many pictures, but what you're doing is great. You've just inspired me to take an overnight 'day trip' , in February ! Cheers, Wendy, glad I came across you. I'm in Ontario. You ?

    Do you ever disclose locations after you’ve camped in that campsite/area? You are such an inspiration. So you mentioned ur not sure how long u will continue doing this…is it the cold or is it boredom. You could transition from camping to cruise ships ! 🚢

    • @wendyoutdoors2230
      @wendyoutdoors2230 6 годин тому

      I disclose locations some of the time but a few spots I keep quiet eg- if it involves areas related to friends and family . As for "how Long?"-- mainly it is related to "Am I having fun? "and my health. The cruise ship idea is there for a back up but thankfully it is not needed yet!!!

    • @wendyoutdoors2230
      @wendyoutdoors2230 6 годин тому

      I am not an expert on hot tents only ever having owned the one I am presently using- Lite Outdoors- Isola . I have been very happy with it and have found it meets my needs. I live in an area which doesn't generally have extreme cold and with the little stone I have been warm. It is also quite waterproof but as it has no floor I have needed to figure out how to keep water out- a tarp seems to work just fine. Gear choice is very much connected to type of environment, # of people, finances, frequency of use, weight for transporting etc. so one that works for me may not work for others. Do some thorough research on line and look at NON sponsored reviews. One reason I chose this tent was because I had questions so I contacted the folks who designed it in Lethbridge Alberta and the fellow was very helpful .I understand that the number of choices out there can only make the search more confusing.Good luck with your search. 👍

    On Feb 5th I just couldn't stand not being at the camp. So I packed up and went to the beach edge of Lake Superior. Bon fire in the pit with 2 ft snow around it. I have a 1980's camper w/electric use. But I couldn't get the temp up higher than 39 degrees in the camper. Thank goodness I was prepared. It was an amazing night, and left right before the blizzard hit. I am 69 years old and my grands think I am crazy! Lol

    I listen to a lot of true crime stories and heard a lot of twisted stuff happening to women camping in the woods, not always alone either. Predators will go after women in pairs too. I keep a variety of weapons on my person and would definitely bring them with me camping, including bear spray 😊 I'm lucky to know when it comes to fight or fight situations I'm definitely a fighter so I'll get my lick in somewhere. I'd prefer to camp closer to other campers so if I'm loud it will alert those around me. I know most campers want to be solo with nobody else around, but one of the best deterrence to criminal behavior is knowing your neighbors, neighborhood watch, that kinda thing. Birds of a feather tend to naturally look out for each other.

    I grew up in the mountains and went camping a ton as a kid. Moved to the city as a teen and now I'm in my thirties still living the fast life, but I'll always miss camping. Never any time, never any opportunity. I fall asleep every night imagining I'm camping again. I miss the fresh air in my lungs when i wake up. I work hard with hope I'll be able to have that freedom again. Thank you for these videos. My grandma would take me camping a lot. I miss her and that lifestyle.
