How I Reset and Rebalance- Taking Time out
Please come along on with me as I enjoy a late summer overnight in a local campground. Enjoy a calming paddle along the lake shore, a simple but tasty dinner and a gorgeous and quiet evening by the campfire. Stepping back from the day to day gives me the space I need to reassess what I value and return home refreshed. #solocamping #womencamping #simpleliving

Meeting Milo- our new family member
Переглядів 6 тис.14 годин тому
Please come along and meet our new family member, Milo. He is a 5 year old Jindo cross rescued from a high kill kennel in Korea. He came to us August 25 and we have all been working at our own adjustments and attachments since! Right now he requires a lot of our time as change is very hard for him. Each day usually shows some improvements but the process is not without the odd set back. We can ...

Please come along with my friend Lydia and me as we seek out a recent run of sockeye salmon on the Stamp River on Vancouver Island . These amazing fish spend time in both fresh and salt water and live to 4-5 years. How they find their way back to their original birth stream is only partially understood. One more of natures wonders. #salmonspawning #stampriverfalls #womenhiking

Please join me and my family as we hike the Elk River trail in Strathcona Park on Vancouver Island, Canada. Overnight in the Nest- plus- What's Next!

A useful new addition to my Gear- I now have a "Nest"- or inner for my Lite Outdoors Isola hot tent. This will provide me with both a floor and a mesh liner for what was already a great winter tent, now allowing use during the bug season. A great night in a beautiful regional park , time to relax and restore as well as a peek into what will be coming up on the channel over the next number of we...

Am I Too Old For This?

Do you ever ask yourself that question? Many of us do , especially as we age. I was recently doing a solo overnight camp out and found some of the effort required to do what needed to be done caused me to reflect on that question- Am I too Old? What keeps us going, and when is enough enough- all relevant questions to consider. #solocamping #womencamping #oldercampers

Your videos restore thoughts and ideals that I can easily lose in the business of the day to day. Thank you Wendy, I'm guessing that your gentle sharing heals a lot of people. Also, that video shot after your paddle before dinner with the sun rays coming in behind your chair....prize winning!

Wendy, I’m a 75 yr. old girl, with multiple health issues BUT, I have bought my 5th tent to allow me to carry on! I can no longer backpack or crawl in and out of my beloved 4-season backpacking tent. My new tent is huge, easy to set up, even with my bad back, and can accommodate 2 or 3 cots, just in case I find a friend who likes to camp. I use a carbon fiber hi-tech walker that’s designed for trails and has a built in seat. I taught skiing in Colorado for 20 years and believe me, it’s been a hard realization that I can no longer hike into and camp in the most beautiful wildernesses in the world. As long as I can drive, I will continue to camp out and enjoy small slices of great mountains and serenity. Aging is a mindset and learning to adapt, while continuing to do the things that you love. 💕

I was packing my camping gear onto my scooter ready for another trip into the Welsh mountains when my Grand Daughter and her work friend visited. Too polite to say anything, but it was obvious the friend was surprised that I still go camping at 80. My Grand Daughter's explanation nicely summed up what you said in your video, Wendy, because she said to her friend, " It's his Nature medicine for his soul" 😊

You said it! I have had a VERY stressful few years (awful ex-husband, working long hours to finish raising kids to pay bills that are too numerous, etc) and every time I would go out into the woods to camp all of those worries would just float off my shoulders. It was magical. I knew they were still there waiting for me when I got home, but I felt like I could literally take a break from them and be at peace. (Also, you are my idol! Thank you for being such a remarkable inspiration.)

Such a beautiful campsite and so peaceful. You do well with the dryer lint, a friend of mine also swears by it. For me, I have a lot of wax left over from candle-making days. I get wood chips and put them in cupcake liners and pour some wax on them and they work super well. I'm thinking you have a good idea to just go out for a night somewhere nearby to reset. Thanks for sharing your camp with us.
