Enjoy your videos. You inspire me. I did a solo camp last night. Had an early hours of the morning visitor who left it's paw prints on my car door as well as a nose print on the window. Must have been a gentle giant for I heard nothing and the car did not rock. I'll be 84 in August and still hike and camp solo. Of course, my backpacking days are finished, but nothing wrong with car camping.
wow Winifred- #1 being 84 and still getting out there solo. #2 you must be a great sleeper. Sounds like it didn't out you off either. I just let my husband know that Im planning to keep at this for another 10 years as I am only a mere 75!!! you are the Inspiration for sure. 👏
Glad that you trusted your intuition and enjoyed your day in other ways than paddling. With age comes wisdom....I know as Im a elder as well. Ive never had cornmeal pancakes. Will have to give them a try! Wendy from Ontario
Good for you, Winifred! You are my new inspiration to keep on camping and hiking no matter what that silly calendar says about one’s age. Really appreciated reading your comment. 👍❤️
Wendy, I’m turning 63 and love the outdoors. I recently attempted and completed a 23 mile solo remote backpacking trip on the Mountains to Sea trail in western North Carolina. Your videos gave me the courage to try it. I made a memory!
that is quite incredible- You must feel very pleased with yourself after doing that. Congratulations. The videos may have given you some incentive but" you"--- made up your mind and embraced the concept and turned it into reality. With your determination and skill you made it. Good on you for sure👍👍👏🏆
You shouldn't feel disappointed in your trip! You did a wonderful thing, you got to enjoy nature and cook outdoors and read a book by the fire... That's a blessing! Good for you.
Love your mug! I’ve had the same one for years! I’ll be 60 this year and you are who I aspire to be when I grow up. Thank you so much for your channel. I discovered it just a week or so ago and I absolutely love what you share.
Hello Wendy! Just wanted to say, that I found your channel pretty recently, but I absolutely adore what you create! I'm 22 and soon to graduate from university and I've been feeling very unsure and a bit lost the past months, but your videos are very comforting and you're a great inspiration for me. Hope you're doing well and continue having many adventures ❤
Thank you so much Miiko. Each new stage we enter is often accompanied by some stress. Usually time smoothes out the rough edges. Take care and be patient with yourself. thanks for sharing your thoughts with me.
Congrats on a huge accomplishment which is graduating from college. 👏👩🎓🎉 Things have a way of working themselves out. Find quiet times now to dream up what you would love to do with your life...then pursue it. If you are unsure let me share this tidbit. When I was your age someone wise asked me once what i did as a child playing with my toys, by myself in my happy imagination world. Thats the path i need to follow. It's play and that's exactly what i did. You can also add to that the skills you have learned on your way there that may come in handy. Good luck, the future is waiting for you. Be brave and get out there. PS dont worry about failure, rejection, or judgement. You need to sometimes go through these stages to get to your happy place in life.
I’m a new fan of yours! I just got back from 5 days of camping with a paddleboard that never left the roof rack due to high wind so I feel your disappointment. Seems you and I have a great respect for Mother Nature and just gotta go with what it throws at us. Definitely not worth the safety risk being alone in the water. Thanks for sharing your trip!
Welcome aboard Elaine- very happy to have you. Yes, the weather dictates in my mind. thanks for commenting. We can both hope for calm waters next trip.
New sub…glad to have found your channel. I’m 62 and have been a backpacker since my mid 30’s…doing over nights and up to 6 months at a time. During covid I was out of work for a yr and 7mos, lost my apartment, and decided that if I was homeless, then I could be homeless anywhere. So I put some gear in my SUV and drove around the country…best yr and a half ever! I’ve decided to go ahead and semi retire next spring and do some long trails (PCT to start) while I still can. After that I’m planning a good long tour in the SUV. I’ll be gone a couple yrs if I have my way. I think often about how long I’ll be able to do these things I love, but seeing you out there, living in the moment, and just BEING, gives me such inspiration and confidence! You’re my heroine! ❤️
such a wonderful story. Making something great out of something that could have brought you to the floor. that is a real inspiration. thanks for sharing
Excellent post! The PCT was my dream trail, but now the Colorado Trail is the one I dream of doing. Good luck with all your adventures! If you do decide to film it, please let us know. I would follow on YT in a heartbeat! 👍. And Congratulations for creating memories while COVID was wreaking havoc. You have a resilient spirit that is wonderful. 👍
Wendy, I'm 60 yo and think you are amazingly brave. I backpacked solo in my 20s but now have all these fears about camping solo. Thank you for you videos, hope I can build up the courage to be adventurous again like you and maybe even buy me a fishing kayak!!!
I hope it works out for you. It doesn't really matter how you go about it, just that you give yourself permission to try. Explore in a way that is comfortable for you. ❤️
I get you. I never sleep great the first night, I can count on it. After that though, I'm usually so tired that I sleep well. I kayak too, but only where there are other people in the area, as I'm not a good swimmer at all. Never have been. Of course I wear a life vest at all times. I'm 64.
terrific- sounds like you are knowing where your safety edges are but still finding ways to enjoy yourself outdoors. I think many of us "mature" folks don't sleep great many nights and when something is different the awake time is longer.
I just found your page 5 minutes ago, and I just wanted to say how inspired I am. I am a fledgeling camper myself, and often find myself daunted by the physicality as a person who borderlines on disability and straddles obese. You are out here reenforcing the fact that many of us, myself included, forget: that ANYONE can get out and enjoy the great outdoors in the way that is best for them. Thank you for documenting your beautiful travels!
Love that you go out and enjoy the great outdoors no matter what. Way to chop wood! Killing it! Perfect veggie dish. Skip the canoe and just enjoy the lake. Beautiful dinner. Soak it in.
Back in the day when my husband and I camped, we would use a Coleman lantern for heat. We would place the lit lantern in our tent about an hour before going to bed. The heat from the lantern would take all the dampness away and our sleeping bags would feel toasty warm when we crawled in. Of course we shut it down to sleep.
that sounds like a reasonable way to warm up the air and the bedding. when I get tired and cold I too like to have a wee bit of warm air around. Makes the move into bed and taking off the outter layers that much easier.
I’m wondering if one of those sad irons they are making now would put off enough heat. It’s small, takes kerosene which I like because it isn’t explosive.
I love the simplicity of your life camping. I just turned 60 and started hiking here in California. I'm enjoying watching your videos on this too hot to hike summer day!
Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time and effort to film and share this. It elevated me and lifted my spirits, exactly what I needed. You are an inspiration, no doubting that.
Major kudos! In addition to the profound courage to do this, this lady understands the value of getting out in nature and away from the cancerous cell phones and 24 hour brain destroying news!!
Wendy, even though your trip wasn’t what you would have liked it to be it is wonderful to see you getting out and enjoying the nature that you can drive to! I will be getting out in a couple of weeks to have my first camping on the lake of the season. I just bought a new kayak to be able to fish from easier. Looking forward to seeing how it goes. You are an inspiration to so very many of us that are a little older! You show us that we can do it! I’ll have a solo camping trip coming up in July. No cell service. I’m looking forward to unplugging and spending quiet time alone. Your videos are awesome. I always look forward to your next adventure! Be safe! Happy camping!
Terrific Heidi- that sounds like a great plan. You all inspire me to keep at it. There is comfort in sharing with one another for sure. Thank you very much. Have a marvellous time.
Hi Wendy🌻, chiming in from Alaska. Just wanted to say I always appreciate your transparency. I would much rather watch a "less exciting, less action packed" camping video like yours, as it shows instead authenticity and rolling with the punches, which I've had to learn in Alaska. I love how you share what you're actually feeling and that you don't always have to be "a 10" when the reality is that maybe the experience is a "6 or a 7". It's really refreshing and paradoxically much more enjoyable than if you had gone out on the canoe trip and affected excitement. Having moved to Alaska, most people imagine my days are or should be all "10"s, when the reality is sometimes the day is just a 3, 4, or 5. For me, your channel, this video, is a reminder to appreciate the "10"s when they come, but also to be ok with the in between days, know that's OK too, and find what beauty you can in them. Anyway, thank you so much again for sharing your beautiful soul with all of us, Wendy, and just being you. That's what makes your channel. And that's what brings us all back.❤
such a beautiful series of comments which humbles me and reinforces to me that life isn't a series of 10's. Where would the joy come if we didn't sometimes have some down times too. Hearing from people has turned out to be the very best part of doing this channel for me. It is the two way dialogue that brings it alive and inspires me to go out again. We are all learning from nature and one another. many thanks
I just started riding bikes again at 71 and I've learned that if i'm not having fun i'm not doing it right. I like your videos even tho i do not camp now.
Hello Girlfriend!!! I too just love the outdoors; but tent car camping is good now that I am 64. You are a rock star Wendy!!! Keep on sharing and inspiring ~ thank you.
I love your positive attitude and easy ability to adapt to disappointment - and your chuckle! So sweet. This was yet another beautiful jaunt into nature.
A couple of days ago, I took out my old pyramid tent and trying to pitch. Under the midday sun, I found it was hard so I had to give it up. I’ll try again Young lady, You’re my role model. Enjoy !
good you tried it at home. Try it again on a cooler day. If it still doesn't work you may benefit from a different tent. My teepee tent is quick and easy. The new gear is usually much easier than what I used in the past. The materials are lighter and set up has greatly improved. Good luck-
I found your channel last week and have been binging it because you inspire me so much! Thank you for keeping things real and making solo camping for women less scary. I am trying to get the courage to solo camp because my family isn’t into camping. You are so cool!!! Please keep making videos.❤😊
What a wonderful and inspiring camping trip. Getting older with decreased health, I have learned to be content with doing the best I can and being very thankful for it.
I just recently recovered from a fractured toes., I had to build my strength back up because I wasnt nearly as physically active. I absolutely love walking and hiking. I am looking forward to doing more camping and hiking. I've never been in a canoe but there's a first time for everything.. I just ran across this channel. Reminds me I need to get out and enjoy nature.
Thanks Wendy I like your simple but functional set up. It's nice to see your honest reflections and wise decisions. You deliver a refreshing change to the "macho" bush man videos I usualy watch. I wish I had half your courage and determination. Love your work and All the Best ❤
Thanks so much Greg- I too watch those more "vigorous" videos. I enjoy them for what they are and love the adventures and energy knowing that isn't me. but-- we do what we can and I aim to have a good time. That 's my goal these days. Enjoy the moment . Really appreciate your kind comments.
You are such a classy lady, making the outdoors look so much more enjoyable! I am so impressed by you and your travels. My girl, Shadow and I like to get away in our van. its always so relaxing and soooooooooo peaceful! safe travels! I look forward to your next video. 🙏🥰
This is the first video I've watched of yours. I would love to go camping. I am in my 60s, and I do like camping. I just never thought of going by myself. But I live in Florida where it's very hot and bugs are the size of your car so I'm not sure I have it in me to do that. But you are my new hero, and you have inspired me.
welcome to you! thanks so much for watching. Not everyone needs to camp solo- I am also very careful about where I go. I wouldnt like the heat or the bugs either. enjoy what works for you
Thank you for YOUR time, Wendy❣️ for sharing your experience and giving me, a 52-year-old grandmother in Norway, so much inspiration. I really appreciate your wonderful videos!
@@MsCuriousturtle Hello. Unfortunately, I'm not very good at fishing, it's mostly my husband who takes care of it. He fishes both in the sea and lakes, and gets a catch almost every time he is out there. So I guess the fishing is good.
I must say it takes courage to camp alone in the wilderness! But what a beautiful peaceful spot. There's nothing like the smell of coffee on the morning air.
Another great video and camp out. Sometimes the plan shifts, but just getting out there is better than not. Thanks for sharing. Look forward to your next adventure.
👍 Enjoyed watching someone just enjoy the countryside when the day’s plan doesn’t work out. Sorry you did not get to splash your canoe, but agree you made the wise choice - there are bold canoeists and there are old canoeists, but there are no old bold canoeists. 🤷🏻♂️
Nice camp site Wendy. Sure looked relaxing. Reading your book looked as enjoyable to me as out in your canoe. I may be the only one who’s not sorry you couldn’t go out on the lake. Just because it’s a gorgeous day doesn’t mean something couldn’t go wrong. I’ve flipped canoes and kayaks in perfectly calm water and at our age being deep in the wood with no people around, I’m not sure it’s a good idea anyway. I’m not saying to be fearful or that I would never do it, but the wind may have been sent just to say, “not today daughter.” I’m glad you listened. :) Blessings
wow!!! wonderful- I hope you have a positive experience. Don't be discouraged if it's not perfect the first few times. Build up. I'm still working on it!!
Oh, so lovely. I’m 60 and a few years ago I caught a glimpse, travel camped solo for 6 months after a job loss, of what life could be. I’m morphing into you. Thank you for sharing.
Well poop on that wind! I'm sorry you didn't get the chance to go out I the canoe, but happy you stayed safe and warm on shore. My friend and I have booked ourselves a spot at Morton Lake for a week in September, so thank you for sharing your video of it Wendy! Until next time darlin, safe and happy trails! Cheers..Shannon
Always look forward to your videos. Love that you always wear dangle earings to camp! I'm 70, really just started camping last few years, started tenting then bought a little AFrame camper. Haven't been out alone yet but you inspire me (widow so go with friend or relative).
Sounds like a good plan- Going alone isn't for everyone. I really started solo camping because I could not find others who wanted to go in a tent. I now have a few folks who will come sometimes but not always when I want to go.
Hi Wendy, one thing about being older is one knows that if it does not feel right, it isn't right. It is so lovely to see a more mature person like myself getting out there and enjoying the great outdoors. Life is for living! Dave x
Better to be safe and feel good about choosing your adventure. That mountain at the end of the lake looks like the head of a sleeping giant...beautiful spot. I'd love your cornmeal pancake recipe! Thanks for another good one!
thanks for your comments. love hearing from you. As for the recipe I don't really have one. It is a bit random and varies from one mix to another. If anyone out there has a great cornmeal pancake recipe maybe they could send it along.
I saw that you didn't measure, pretty much the way I cook, lol. You didn't show the cornmeal going in or I would have guesstimated. Would you offer up a say, 3 parts flour to 1 part cornmeal or something? Do you use baking powder? It doesn't have to be exact. I won't hold you to the results...promise! 😁
@@madamecampsalot6384 I premix it all at home. I think it’s roughly 3 of flour 1 of cornmeal and ..?.teaspoons baking powder. Whatever the amount usually is for pancakes. I also add powdered milk . I then add some oil and an eggs and water. You’re likely really close but it’s not an exact science for me for sure, thanks for not holding me to the results🤦♀️😉I usually throw a lot in a large bag then mix it all up and call it done then🤞 good luck
Wendy, that was such a beautiful lake. I would have been disappointed too with not being able to get out on it but you made the best of it and shared a lovely and peaceful trip. I’ve been disappointed because life’s circumstances have kept me from camping but I have been able to take a few trips to have a short hike or visit a lake although not solo. I’m dreaming of a solo trip where I can stay out overnight and get out in the kayak. Hopefully soon but in the meantime, I’ll enjoy your adventures. Thank you for sharing.
Sorry you weren't able to get out on the water in your canoe, but you sure had a beautiful spot there by the lake. Thank you for sharing your adventures with all of us out here in UA-cam land. Stephanie J, still somewhere in the middle of a forest outside of Olympia, WA, USA.
Still a wonderful adventure with such beautiful surroundings I've never done much solo camping I've always had my dogs with me another wonderful adventure Wendy see you on the next one😊
Absolutely Wendy- Dogs are "sort of" people but not really so taking them with you doesn't take away from solo camping in my books! Looking forward to hearing from you again.
I really enjoyed the time and effort you put into this video. My husband and I are going camping for the first time in a very long time. First we're tenting and will buy a truck camper this fall, and then tour around with it. I want to go camping on my childhood home of Vancouver Island, so I'm liking all the tips. Our long term plan is to camp down the Rocky Mountain range. I like your camping chair. It looks lightweight. It looks like a cascade, but I couldn't find anything similar. Do you have a camping supply list? Thanks. Also, have you tried the Cascade cot? It's lightweight and comfortable, but it gets cold at night as the air circulate underneath, so I put a thin yoga mat on top of it to insulate the cold. It's so comfy I like it better than my expensive bed. All the best to you.
your plans sound wonderful especially as you haven't camped before. A whole new world opens up for you. I hope you do make it out to the island,. My camp chair is made by Helinox. very light weight.I haven't see Cascade gear here. will check it out on line. Thanks for the tip. As for the list, I have one for myself, not really in a format for distributing. I will give that some thought for the future . thanks again
I used to go tent camping a lot when I was younger. My ex and I camped an entire month from WV in the states to California and back to Arkansas. We had a good time. I would enjoy camping again but I’m uneasy going by myself because there are too many things happening in the states today and it’s probably not safe for me by myself. Stay safe!! It’s beautiful where you are. Your pancakes looked delicious. 😊
that is such a shame- I hope you can find someone to go with you so you can enjoy some of the beauty of your country. Maybe check out some hiking clubs in your area. thanks for commenting . much appreciated.
Hi Wendy nice to see ya out again what a nice spot, Nothing wrong with being in a recreation camp spot you got out, nothin wrong with just relaxing either You can always go out on the canoe the next time weather permitting. It sure is hard to pack up and leave while out camping I always hate that time , It just goes to fast. Love your videos always a joy to watch.
Hi Sue- thanks for commenting again and continuing to watch. you are a long time viewer. You are quite right, nothing wrong with just hanging out and enjoying
I just joined your channel a few minutes ago after just finding it. Thank you for the beauty in your video. I cannot go camping but I felt like I was with your video. I know that younger people would not care about the breeze but I am so glad that you are very careful and mindful of what is ok for you or not ok. Thank you for your channel and I am looking forward to your next one. Best wishes from Alli in Australia.
Wow, you are amazing, and an inspiration. I have been reluctant to go solo camping but I want to so badly, and your video helps push me to do it. Amazing camera work and editing, wow, incredible video, thanks for making and sharing.
thanks Jim I hope it works out for you. I have found it to be very rewarding to push my edges but I try to look after my safety as well. I pick my battles and consider the risks -then go for it! Sometimes I am a bit nervous but it has worked out so far. 🤞
You inspire. Grateful for your pleasant youtubes. I can always count on enjoying your view on life and how awesome you are to just get out and do it. Good or bad weather I love the scenery. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us!!!
Sad about the wind and no canoeing during your outing (better safe than sorry!) but this trip with you was still quite beautiful, Wendy! Thank you for sharing your outdoors adventures! ❤
I can really relate to your camping trip. I find here in Outback Australia there is no peace if you camp near others. Their complaining, moaning, (usually about their illnesses) there generators, their noise is terrible. No respect at all for others. Then there is the flies and mozzies they are really bad at the moment. So, ( boy I'm a moaner,Lols) no I just took each problem and deducted it from my camping trips. Thankyou Wendy for finding the time to create this channel. I am please I have found it.
You choose amazing spots for camping, Wendy! Such beauty. Sorry you missed out on canoeing but probably smart with it being so cold and windy. Glad you got out for an evening 👍 Also, you do a great job of editing your videos and adding music.
Super video, Wendy, and oh, I've had more than a few of those tent trips on Lake Superior! Like yourself, I'm always prepared for weather change, and it happens often. Never leave my down jacket behind! Even in July, the wind shifts and Superior shows us who's boss haha You obviously know 'The cup is half full', and I do as well.. Just savoring the peace of being there, is worth it, no matter what. Keep up the good work, God bless! 🏕 🌲🌲
many thanks for sharing your support and story. I watch some you Tubers from Ont who paddle on Superior sometimes. It is a fresh water ocean!!! huge but beautiful . Not for me obviously at this stage but I love to watch others. ie. @lostlakes
I gotta hand it to ya, you're an inspiration Wendy..the lake looked beautiful but they'll be other times..I sure wish I lived near you, I'd be tagging along on each trip, all the best!!🙂
Hi Wendy, I don't blame you for leaving your canoe on your vehicle. I do watch folks who paddle through very tough conditions but don't envy them. I do enjoy your spirit.
thanks so much Kathleen- great to hear from you. Your beautiful nature videos are wonderful. Also enjoyed your trip down the river. Have a fabulous summer
@@wendyoutdoors2230 Your comment about not wanting to just paddle in the rain and pretend you were enjoying it was very authentic and that is important for viewers to hear and keeps your content relatable...bravo! And thanks so much for your ongoing support too with our Channel. We're actually heading your way in the fall to explore a bit of Vancouver Island.
Hi Wendy, another lovely video. Keep doing what you love, you inspire me. I love watching your videos, you remind me of my late Mama❤. May God keep you safe on your travels 🙏🏻
awesome. I do hope to encourage others to push a bit and find the joy in new accomplishments. It really helps me so that is part of what I share. thank you
Some times plans don't go quite as I like either but making the best of it is one of your best qualities. Such a gorgeous big lake. Do you have to pay to stay at a place like today? Some places cost so much that it would be a hardship for many on a fixed income but the peace of nature is so nice. Thanks and love from Central Oklahoma
Weather surely does determine our day but that's what makes it an adventure. My last trip was to start with info on how to set up my camper truck but that ended up at the end of my trip to southern Utah in a place that was so perfect. You just never know the outcome... Happy trails, Stephen Raven Trails/Truck Camping
I always enjoy your videos so much! I’m a 53 year old woman and go solo backcountry canoe camping, too. I plan to continue doing so until I can do it no longer. Even then, I’m sure I’ll come up with a modified version that suits my capabilities. You are such an inspiration! Thank you for sharing your adventures and gentle acceptance of what weather (and life) throws your way. Keep on paddling!!
Wonderful to hear from you. I have had to modify what I do and the way I do it many times now. It just seems to be an ongoing process. Thankfully I am still getting out and having fun. I wish you lots of amazing paddle times.
Your videos are so very pleasant no matter what you do. Im glad you chose to be safe and not canoe. Girl you chopped that wood like a pro! Loved this adventure!
Well, this was a great break for me from setting up a garage sale-very tedious--so I enjoyed seeing some woods and lake (such a clear lake too). Wish I was that good with a hatchet!! Sometimes it's nice to just "meditate" while out in the woods....thank you, and have a great next time.
Hello 👋 Wendy, extending a warm greetings to you from Northern California.. Thank you for the tag along. This was a most relaxing outing. Always take good care of yourself. Stay healthy young and energetic. 😊 😎
i found your channel a little bit ago and its been so inspiring to see you out and camping like this. im 40 now, and just getting back into camping and it makes me remember that im still very young and capable. i live in a city in the midwest, so its hard someetimes for me to find places to go and actually be in nature, but every time i do, its so worth it. thank you for these lovely and amazing videos, and i hope you're able to get out on the water soon! also, i dont really have anyone in my life who is interested in camping, so everything i do is a solo camp. i really just think its when its you and your thoughts with no one else around. even at a campground. sometimes its nice and sometimes its lonely. but you take the good with the bad.
absolutely- take the good with the bad- thanks so much for taking time to comment and for sharing your experiences. Yes, you are young. Somehow I think the outdoors brings out so much that is good within yourselves.
A very wise woman not to go out on the water when you are not comfortable with the conditions. I salute you for your wisdom.
thanks you.
I turned 70 this spring and I still ride my motorcycle and go motorcycling camping. Age truly is just a number!
absolutely Sharon

You rock, Wendy!
That sounds amazing but also difficult. How did you provide regular food for yourself? Hope you are still feeling you have a home somewhere nowadays
Still better than my best day at work!
I will keep that in mind when I feel sorry for myself. 🤞
Wendy, I'm 60 yo and think you are amazingly brave. I backpacked solo in my 20s but now have all these fears about camping solo. Thank you for you videos, hope I can build up the courage to be adventurous again like you and maybe even buy me a fishing kayak!!!
Go for it! I never solo camped til the last 2 years. Didn't think I could and then-- wow- I can!!!!
You give me a lot of encouragement to get out and explore, even thought I'm 72 and I don't have a partner. Thank you!!
I hope it works out for you. It doesn't really matter how you go about it, just that you give yourself permission to try. Explore in a way that is comfortable for you. ❤️
I love how you don't have anything to prove. And no apologies. Love it.❤
no, at this age I feel I can be honest- age does bring some benefits👵🏻🤣- thanks
I am so happy to see you received the message- Just treat yourself well and safely. You will find nature has so much to offer you.
Love that you go out and enjoy the great outdoors no matter what. Way to chop wood! Killing it! Perfect veggie dish. Skip the canoe and just enjoy the lake. Beautiful dinner. Soak it in.
absolutely good advise. thanks
I'm enjoying watching your videos on this too hot to hike summer day!
the temp seems to be ramping up here now and I have a big hike ahead of me. A bit of a worry too. Thanks
Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time and effort to film and share this. It elevated me and lifted my spirits, exactly what I needed. You are an inspiration, no doubting that.
You are so welcome, thank you
You are an inspiration!! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. I understand the disappointment, but what a beautiful camp site.
So true Ursula. That really helps for sure.
Major kudos! In addition to the profound courage to do this, this lady understands the value of getting out in nature and away from the cancerous cell phones and 24 hour brain destroying news!!
Yes, I don't miss the news! thanks
Hello Bill- I agree. A lot is attitude. Enjoy cycling. a great way to enjoy the outdoors.
Hello Girlfriend!!! I too just love the outdoors; but tent car camping is good now that I am 64. You are a rock star Wendy!!! Keep on sharing and inspiring ~ thank you.
Thanks so much Alison
Great set up Wendy. Love your camps. Always watch your videos. Thanks for sharing 🏕️🏕️🏕️
Glad you like them and thanks so much for watching Carol.
At least no mosquitoes 😉Thanks for sharing 💐
You got that right!
I love your positive attitude and easy ability to adapt to disappointment - and your chuckle! So sweet. This was yet another beautiful jaunt into nature.
Thank you so much. It was a beautiful little get away for sure,
A couple of days ago, I took out my old pyramid tent and trying to pitch.
Under the midday sun, I found it was hard so I had to give it up.
I’ll try again
Young lady,
You’re my role model.
Enjoy !
good you tried it at home. Try it again on a cooler day. If it still doesn't work you may benefit from a different tent. My teepee tent is quick and easy. The new gear is usually much easier than what I used in the past. The materials are lighter and set up has greatly improved. Good luck-
@@wendyoutdoors2230 Hi Wendy, I love your videos, and I am a camper myself. What tent do you use if you don't mind me asking?
Nevermind, I now see your hot tent video from a couple of months ago!!
I found your channel last week and have been binging it because you inspire me so much! Thank you for keeping things real and making solo camping for women less scary. I am trying to get the courage to solo camp because my family isn’t into camping. You are so cool!!! Please keep making videos.❤😊
thank you very much- I love camping and that is why Im still at it!
What a wonderful and inspiring camping trip. Getting older with decreased health, I have learned to be content with doing the best I can and being very thankful for it.
you sounds like A very wise and content person-
You are cautious but courageous, thank you for your videos!
So nice of you- thank you for watching Abigail
I just recently recovered from a fractured toes., I had to build my strength back up because I wasnt nearly as physically active. I absolutely love walking and hiking. I am looking forward to doing more camping and hiking. I've never been in a canoe but there's a first time for everything.. I just ran across this channel. Reminds me I need to get out and enjoy nature.
recovery time can set us back for sure. Glad you are on the mend. Hope you find a way to get as you wish. thanks for watching and sharing.
Thanks Wendy
I like your simple but functional set up.
Pitching a tent and sleeping outside is called a win!! I’m sorry you didn’t get to do what you wanted ❤️❤️ but you made it.!!!!!
Absolutely Jody- thanks so much
Damn girl! Spitting wood like a boss. 🪓
yes, but I have to be constantly careful and aware. Didn't used to be so much of a focused task as it is now🤣
This is such a good lesson for me to learn. I get so frustrated sometimes when I plan a trip and the weather doesn’t permit me to do the activity.
Can't do much about the weather but we can control our minds. Sometimes I am better at that than other times 😅
I guess the algorithm just sent this to me and I’m now a subscriber. You are an inspiration.
Welcome Michael- wonderful to have you along
You are such a classy lady, making the outdoors look so much more enjoyable! I am so impressed by you and your travels. My girl, Shadow and I like to get away in our van. its always so relaxing and soooooooooo peaceful! safe travels! I look forward to your next video. 🙏🥰
thanks Denise- happy travels
You are so welcome, it is my pleasure knowing you enjoy them.
@bentetogstad2850 - How is the fishing in Norway?
@@MsCuriousturtle
Hello.
Unfortunately, I'm not very good at fishing, it's mostly my husband who takes care of it. He fishes both in the sea and lakes, and gets a catch almost every time he is out there. So I guess the fishing is good.
Thank you again, from cold and wet UK: a lovely film..........
Thanks Laurie- It is quite cool and wet here at the moment- we really need the rain so trying not to complain too much
I must say it takes courage to camp alone in the wilderness! But what a beautiful peaceful spot. There's nothing like the smell of coffee on the morning air.
So true! thanks Brenda.
Another great video and camp out. Sometimes the plan shifts, but just getting out there is better than not. Thanks for sharing. Look forward to your next adventure.
thanks so much Glenn. I look forward to hearing from you.
Even if you could not get on the water, the view is beautiful, the air is fresh, and you can still enjoy the trees. It looked like fun.
yes, it was ultimately a good time. thank you
👍 Enjoyed watching someone just enjoy the countryside when the day’s plan doesn’t work out. Sorry you did not get to splash your canoe, but agree you made the wise choice - there are bold canoeists and there are old canoeists, but there are no old bold canoeists. 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks 👍
Blessings
thank you very much for sharing your caring thoughts. I am learning to listen quite a lot these days.
I want to be like you when I’m older. You’re such an inspiration!!
thank you very much- just be your best you😀
Wendy, you are an inspiration! I love your attitude and competence. You’ve convinced me I can give solo camping a try. Super excited about it!
wow!!! wonderful- I hope you have a positive experience.
Hello Kristy- 6 months of solo camping- you could likely write a book about that experience. thank you so much for watching .
A fun outdoor adventure... Even without getting on the lake... It was lovely. ✌️
Yes, it was a lovely place just to sit and watch . thank you
Well poop on that wind! Cheers..Shannon
great news Shannon- I do hope you find it as wonderful a place as I do. In the meantime, enjoy your summer
The scenery alone was worth the trip. I've always been afraid of water. Thank you :)
glad you enjoyed it- The scenery is indeed wonderful for sure.
A double thumbs up to you, Wendy. Like the song says, You gotta know when to roll em…❤
for sure. Weather wins , especially the wind when I go in my canoe. thanks
There were times i went out to kayak and just sat in my car watching the birds and water and read my book. Loved it. ❤
sounds like a beautiful way to spend some time.
I can’t believe your video popped up!! I’m 65 and wouldn’t dare solo camp like you
but man oh man I’d Love to try it!!❤
Hello Sylvia- not for everyone- just getting out and having fun in Nature is what it is really about- thanks for watching.
Beautiful spot! I hope you get to go back in better weather 🥰
I hope so too! Maybe later this season. 🤞
Hi Wendy, one thing about being older is one knows that if it does not feel right, it isn't right. It is so lovely to see a more mature person like myself getting out there and enjoying the great outdoors. Life is for living!
Dave x
thanks so much David- Yes, we do learn a few things over the years, some of them the hard way. really appreciate your comments.
Awesome! Can't wait to try some pancake magic. My name is Judy, by the way.🚣♀️
@@madamecampsalot6384 hi Judy
Wendy, that was such a beautiful lake. I would have been disappointed too with not being able to get out on it but you made the best of it and shared a lovely and peaceful trip. I’ve been disappointed because life’s circumstances have kept me from camping but I have been able to take a few trips to have a short hike or visit a lake although not solo. I’m dreaming of a solo trip where I can stay out overnight and get out in the kayak. Hopefully soon but in the meantime, I’ll enjoy your adventures. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Julie- I hope your dream can become a reality . Sounds like you are good at making the best of things regardless. thanks for sharing .
Sorry you weren't able to get out on the water in your canoe, but you sure had a beautiful spot there by the lake. Thank you for sharing your adventures with all of us out here in UA-cam land. Stephanie J, still somewhere in the middle of a forest outside of Olympia, WA, USA.
thanks Stephanie. wonderful to hear from you. You are just a little south of us.
I just found your channel and I'm already a huge fan! I'm a 35 year old solo female traveler and camper, and I'm so glad to see more women out there.
wonderful to have another young woman in the group- thanks so much for watching
Wendy you are an inspiration and a breath of fresh air!
many thanks
I love how you roll! Your videos always make me smile.
Hi Jelaine- thank you very much- Smiles are good for us. I have a lot of laughs myself doing this.
You are quite right, nothing wrong with just hanging out and enjoying
yes I always enjoy watching you out camping such a beautiful area of our country
Welcome Alli . thanks so much for joining the channel from Australia. It is great to hear that you felt included. That is one of my goals. thanks you.
You are so welcome. I am happy you enjoy the videos. thank you
Hi from Norfolk Island I’m with my mama Ruth direct descendants of Fletcher Christian from munity of the Bounty! We loved watching your video! Gipzy
awesome history. glad you enjoy watching- thank you
Sad about the wind and no canoeing during your outing (better safe than sorry!) but this trip with you was still quite beautiful, Wendy! Thank you for sharing your outdoors adventures! ❤
thanks Cathy- It was a great place to sit and watch and listen.
Thank you Wendy for sharing your adventures. You are an inspiration to all of us 💕
thank you very much Ruthie
I can really relate to your camping trip. I find here in Outback Australia there is no peace if you camp near others. Their complaining, moaning, (usually about their illnesses) there generators, their noise is terrible. No respect at all for others. Then there is the flies and mozzies they are really bad at the moment. So, ( boy I'm a moaner,Lols) no I just took each problem and deducted it from my camping trips. Thankyou Wendy for finding the time to create this channel. I am please I have found it.
thank you so much James- we all complain sometimes I think. Makes us appreciate the good times. Great having you onboard with the channel.
I love your laugh! Thank you so much for this video 🙏 You are an inspiration!!!
Thank you so much!
You choose amazing spots for camping, Wendy! Such beauty. Sorry you missed out on canoeing but probably smart with it being so cold and windy. Glad you got out for an evening 👍 Also, you do a great job of editing your videos and adding music.
many thanks Ellen. much appreciated
Hello Wendy as soon as I see your upload like right away. Always admire you,
Many thanks- hope you are doing well too. Happy camping
@@wendyoutdoors2230 I am well, thank you.
Not for me obviously at this stage but I love to watch others. ie. @lostlakes
I gotta hand it to ya, you're an inspiration Wendy..the lake looked beautiful but they'll be other times..I sure wish I lived near you, I'd be tagging along on each trip, all the best!!🙂
thanks so much Rolland.
Hi Wendy, another lovely video. Keep doing what you love, you inspire me. I love watching your videos, you remind me of my late Mama❤. May God keep you safe on your travels 🙏🏻

thank you so much for watching. I really appreciate you subbing . I am curious too re where I'll go next- never know ! 🤣
Awww Wendy, you make me homesick for camping. I've got some plans in the making but it can't come soon enough!
Have fun! I send you lots of good positive vibes. Enjoy when it comes.
Thank you for sharing this trip with us even though it wasn't perfect and didn't go to plan. You make me want to be more capable and adventurous
awesome. I do hope to encourage others to push a bit and find the joy in new accomplishments. It really helps me so that is part of what I share. thank you
I’d be disappointed too, but glad to be outdoors. Thanks for sharing
thanks you. you are correct.
You are so cool!! Thank you for sharing your adventures. That wind could be scary out on that big lake for sure, there is always next time 👍🏻🤗
You are right Claudia, thanks so much for your comments.
Hi Janet- we do pay but it is very reasonable- I think it was $18 Canadian . thanks for your support.
What a wonderful, upbeat attitude :) thank you for sharing your trip! It's got me excited for my next camp.
thanks you Natalie. hope you have a wonderful trip
That is what makes it perfect……you do what you want ,when you want!! Enjoy!!
thanks Nancy- I sometimes need to remind myself of that.
Never seen your channel before but liked the video as soon as you smiled at the camera. What great vibes.
Thanks so much!!
Weather surely does determine our day but that's what makes it an adventure. My last trip was to start with info on how to set up my camper truck but that ended up at the end of my trip to southern Utah in a place that was so perfect. You just never know the outcome... Happy trails, Stephen Raven Trails/Truck Camping
thanks Stephen - no , you never know how things will go. Maybe that is part of why so many of us love an adventure.
😊 thank you very much Kathy
Well, this was a great break for me from setting up a garage sale-very tedious--so I enjoyed seeing some woods and lake (such a clear lake too). Wish I was that good with a hatchet!! Sometimes it's nice to just "meditate" while out in the woods....thank you, and have a great next time.
thank you very much. and good luck with the garage sale.
Hello 👋 Wendy, extending a warm greetings to you from Northern California.. Thank you for the tag along. This was a most relaxing outing. Always take good care of yourself. Stay healthy young and energetic. 😊 😎
Many thanks Ronald- Really appreciate having you along. thanks for connecting.
Hello Wendy I love your videos .I am 65 and still camp and hike on my own.Like you I believe in living my life to the fullest.
That is awesome! get out while we can for sure!! happy trails
i found your channel a little bit ago and its been so inspiring to see you out and camping like this. im 40 now, and just getting back into camping and it makes me remember that im still very young and capable. i live in a city in the midwest, so its hard someetimes for me to find places to go and actually be in nature, but every time i do, its so worth it.
thank you for these lovely and amazing videos, and i hope you're able to get out on the water soon!
also, i dont really have anyone in my life who is interested in camping, so everything i do is a solo camp. i really just think its when its you and your thoughts with no one else around. even at a campground. sometimes its nice and sometimes its lonely. but you take the good with the bad.
absolutely- take the good with the bad- thanks so much for taking time to comment and for sharing your experiences. Yes, you are young. Somehow I think the outdoors brings out so much that is good within yourselves.
