Roland Fantom EX Jupiter 8 Custom Patch Demo - ‘BUTTER’
This is a short snippet of a live stream that I did some months back. I was going over some sounds from the newly released Roland Fantom EX update. This is a custom sound from the Jupiter 8 ACB engine. During the live stream one of the viewers and I decided to name the sound butter. Let me know what you think! I hope you enjoy it.

Chord Pads for any Midi Keyboard Part 2 (Nautilus, Nord, Montage, Fantom, etc)
A great warning to all the 4 people that will afford to buy a $5700 keyboard 👍🏻
4 ??? It's way more than that. Lol. You couldn't even get these keyboards at first because they were all backordered.
And now, used ones are hitting the shelves.
Bro I got the MODX + how do I kill the sustain on bass patches I play mostly keybass I don't want my bass line sustaining when I use the sustain pedal.
You have to check the midi filter and turn off the control for sustain
Excellent clear explanation for the extra outs. Great job, very helpful!
Stay connected!!
I agree. 16 voices polyphony for the ANX engine indeed is to few. Especially when most synthesizer and keyboard marks already for a long time have worked with 128 voices polyphony
It's 16 just for the anx only. That's quite good for a dedicated synth.
Hello sir many times , when I plugged out the USB stick with a sample in there after it said sample not Loading....but I already loaded the sample and wrote it to the directory... what's the problem even though I Locate the new sample saving KSC file it's also not loading....
There is no voice audio only keyboard sound
There should be. Not sure I've seen anyone mention that before. I talked more in the beginning than the middle and end.
Great informative video! You forgot the SuperNatural Acoustic engine and the Virtual Tonewheel Organ engines on the Fantom
Thanks, that was really helpful :)
Make sure you check out the video on the Korg nanakontrol too.
Who the hell came to hear you talk for 30mins. Play and let us hear what they both sound like.... Stopped watching after 5mins
Wow man .... Comments like this are wild. You have a lot of nerve. Smh.
I just want to record myself playing a piano track. That’s all. No backing tracks, beats, anything else . But the nautilus makes this incredibly difficult . Any tips? Thanks !
Check out my Nautilus sequencer series. You'll be good in no time. It's super easy to record on the Nautilus!!!! SUPER EASY
@@JuliusDeBerryJrthanks I love your videos but where is the record button !!! (Joke I know it’s buried across about 9 menus…)
@jongateley no it's actually at the very top of the sequencer screen!!! 🫣👀
@jongateley lol
@@JuliusDeBerryJr thanks , yes I press it and nothing happens . It won’t play preset songs either. Like the songs are there, loaded, and nothing happens when I press play and/or record even though the coloured banner comes up . I must have some hidden parameter set up wrongly.
Why the frequency? On start... Why?
What do you mean?
Oh there was some audio issues early on. We got all that ironed out. Sorry about that. Please don't let that stop you from enjoying the videos.
@@JuliusDeBerryJr though it was some theory of conspiracy 😂 getting into our brains. But, it's really annoying. And, yes, I will continue watching your videos.
@aleksandarbonchev2593 I apologize for it. I didn't notice it during editing and just couldn't redo the whole video. It's been up for 2 years lol
hey Julius Drivers are available for only Windows What about Mac where i get the Drivers for Macbook? any link or clue please help me on this
I didn't remember completely... But seems like drivers weren't required for Mac
These videos are extremely helpful, thank you!
Great!!! Don't forget to check out the Nautilus Sequencer Series that we have released!!! Have a great day
The Motif ES Piano definitely sounds warmer and "phatter" out the gate than the montage m8x. What do you think?
Edit from German in English The update of the Roland Fantom expands the software, which means it is completely open for the future. The expansions are primarily intended to help the user with the patches. There are a lot of them. The sound is generated directly by the sound generator. I am very happy with it. There is a lot to learn and understand. However, I have the feeling that it is easier with Roland...
I wish there was a translator so I could read your comment
@@JuliusDeBerryJr yes moment please, my English is Not perfekt. I Translate whit software, moment please

Thx!!! Hope all is well!! 💪🏾💪🏾
Motif XS vs Motif ES: For me a better sound engine means: better tone generator chip, better samples (more detailed, less compressed, longer), more simultaneous effects, more simultaneous arpeggios, better DAC In (almost) any regard of the above mentioned, the XS (tone generator SWP51, 8 elements per voice, 4 simultaneous arpeggios, expanded articulations...) supercedes the ES (tone generator SWP50, 4 elements per voice, 1 arpeggio...). And a huge improvement in usability on the XS: Direct performance recording to pattern. All the settings and effects from the performance are automatically copied to the sequencer. That was really annoying to do that by hand on the ES. Of course, that doesn't mean, that subjectively a particular patch on the ES can't sound better than its counterpart on the XS.
It's for the most part an "accepted fact" that the es sounds better....(The actual tone of the instrument) Them the xs. I know that would be considered an opinion. But that's why I said an accepted fact. Opinions that are extremely consistent across a specific group..🤷🏾♂️. I'm the gospel community, folks don't really care for the xs overall
@@JuliusDeBerryJr Totally get that. The ES has a warm and full sound right out of the box. The XS probably shines, when you use it for recording.
@followyourpassion8378 how so?
@@JuliusDeBerryJr You mean, how the XS shines when recording (an album)? The voices are sounded differently, they work well in a mix and some voices are more detailed on the XS (more velocity layers, longer samples), so they sound more "realistic", though not necessarily better. I had ES and XS in various forms (workstation, rack, budget line) and as I recall it, arrangements with acoustic intruments (drums, horns, ac. bass, piano, sax, but also orchestral instruments) sounded more nuanced on XS. The most important feature on XS for composing, however, was the direct performance recording and having 4 arpeggios on the same time. But I fully agree, that the ES would sound way better, when accompanying a worship with a layered sound, lets say electric piano and pad. Also the S700 piano was very good. But I think, that was only on the S90ES.
Thank you
💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾

So beautiful. Can really see that you put everything into your playing. So refreshing to see that.
Catching up on videos. Such a heartfelt presentation. Thank you for sharing these with everyone.
It's a state of mind people have relating to this. So it takes a little while - they just need to keep that in mind and not gripe. It is worth the wait for what it has under the hood!

A MONTAGE M LE FALTA MAS UNA PANTALLA.....
Hi can you turn up and down one of the lears with EXP foot controller?
Yes you sure can!
no steptime (TR-drum machine style) sequencher yet?, just as the regular montage, thats to bad because those 16 green buttons on the right could be used as such...oh wel just use cubase then, or some hardware sequencher instead.
Every keyboard won't have everything.... Not even necessary to have EVERYTHING under one roof. People act like they can (or will) only buy one machine. We all know that's not true. Lol. Use it for what it's good for them get something else to fill the gaps!! Win win! 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Sounds Great Julius! Hadn't spoken in a while. Just wanted to say hey! Still listening!
Thanks for the kind words!!! Hope all is well for you!
@@JuliusDeBerryJr I stopped at 35 songs with that audio dump I told you I did from the old ASR10 Ensoniq "best of songs".... Since, I took your advice & now I'm storing all new song tracks on the thumb drive which does lead to a question on the Nautilus...LOL As you know once you have the Thumb Drive in the USB Drive, rather than calling up each song individually to hit play, (sorta small but do-able, I do see a load tab. Is that something that would possibly be easier to start songs, etc...??? <<< if that makes since?
@botronicmusic to be honest, I think you should use an external device to playback your songs. The Nautilus can do it. But it's not a best case scenario... You could easily buy a cheap android tablet and use it for playback. It would be a much more efficient work flow. You can connect the outs of the tablet to the Nautilus inputs (if necessary). ... Really there are alot of options to consider.
@@JuliusDeBerryJr man, you are right. Lots of options. That one does make since for sure. I saw your series on sequencing that looks like you put up 6 months ago if I saw that correctly. I’m buying tracks and playing a main organ/piano/Wurlitzer/synth patch on top. Working so far. I will dive into your series soon. Thanks man!
@botronicmusic yeah. Trying to let that one marinate some. People are still asking questions and stuff. I will have some additional content for that series soon hopefully.
Can you share that patch? Nice!
Do you have the EX expansion?
I do I’m trying to build patches now playing main keys as we speak
Hey Bro. I enjoyed your videos about the Montage M and the Roland Fantom. I'm thanking about getting both for a keyboard collection. Great Videos.
Wow. Alot of people would love to be in your shoes. Lol. Doing it for that reason. Haha
Do you have videos that teach us how to use the sequencer and just overall usage of the Korg Krome?
The sequencer between the Korg units are all EXTREMELY similar. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx3FF2mUIQuu-Nua0TSXVm3ISDFRCeo7Ty?si=v9PbGh0x1tn0r_6Q
Man this is GREAT!!! Had no idea you had this much content!! ✊🏾🔥
Thanks bro! Share it and spread the word! I appreciate the kind words!
Still using ur Kronos?
Oh yeah for sure! What made you ask that?
?
HI, very cool video.......... is the Nautilus able to bounce each track to disc in stems also? thank you
Can you reword that question?
@@JuliusDeBerryJr Hello, yes, the nautilus can store a song in a Pad.....when we bounce all tracks to pad.......was wondering if we can bounce 1 track at a time to the pad ? thank you
Julius help!!!! How do you open up memory in sequencer??? It’s telling me I only have to e percent memory left even though I’m deleting a whole bunch of stuff.
You have to delete sequences.
Iv always been a Roland guy I did buy a Yamaha FX motif it’s a nice board but the Roland fantom in my opinion the sounds are way better Also the sequencer in the rolling is way more simpler and easier to get around in.
I own Motif XF, can Montage M playback my patterns section A-P and 5 mute memory toggle buttons?
I could not get it to play my patterns.
Awesome job! Thank you so much. Such talent ❤
Thank you so much!
Comparing the Kronos to the Montage M8x is kind of silly. While the Kronos is still a great piece of kit there’s really no comparison. Processing power, Poly aftertouch, new weighted bed which feels about as close to a real piano as you can get. AN-X engine on top of the FM-X and AWM2. Incredible controls and now with the OS 2.0 update coming end of June giving even more features as well as new effects. Using the deck as a guitar effects and amp modeler the list goes on. Oh and 35 seconds to boot from an off state vs 3 minutes or so.
You may need to dig a little more. It's not as far off as you think.... Beyond surface level stuff. Thanks for watching!
I just bought the M8X TODAY and I hear the cut offs but it’s still an Expensive Amazing Instrument that fills NEW and SOoo EXPRESSIVE. I have them both. Montage 61 for sale $2,300 First come first buy. It has only been played in my studio. It has never moved. It’s brand new steel.
Great video! Thanks.
Why don’t I have percussion
Can you be a little more specific?
I don’t have a button with percussion
@splashbrothers2318 is your app up to date?
@@JuliusDeBerryJr ye
@splashbrothers2318 I'm not sure then. What iPad do you have? If it's older, then the version may be different than mine.
I'm confused. I thought they both are around the same price. That's $4500 for Montage and $4200 for Fantom.
Hey don't be confused. I think I said used Fantoms, if not, it been discussed heavily since then in the comments. Some people agree with the perspective and some don't. 🤷🏾♂️ At the time this video was posted there were no used MONTAGE M boards really circulating... You could get Fantoms. That was the current situation at that time, so that's the perspective the statement came from. Probably still holds somewhat true today though. . I got my Fantom 8 for 2k after tax a year ago. 💪🏾
How does it work with midi channels out? I’d like to sequence within my MPC after connecting the Montage. In Performance mode you’d have 16 tracks whilst some piano sounds consist out of 4 or 5 tracks which leaves you with less midi channels for other instruments am I right? Thanks
I will try and do a video about this.
Особой разницы в звуке НЕТ! У меня motif ES и я счастлив!!!
Veeeery very helpful... greetings from greece. You are awesome
Thanks for taking the time to make the video. The one criticism I have is terminology. Scenes, grooves, tracks, etc, etc. Users need commom terms vs a plethora of terms. It's no different than Ableton using scenes, clips, etc. No one knows for sure exactly what's being discussed.
I don't understand what you are getting at
Thanks for sharing bro, this was very helpful! Are there any other sound packs you’d highly recommend?
Do you still own this mixer? If so would you recommend it?
For what type of application? I sent it back to Korg after I finished all the videos. They sent it to me for that purpose.
@@JuliusDeBerryJr home studio
@BritoWorx as the main mixer or a sub mixer? Be as specific as possible so I can be sure to give you the right advise.
Versus? Knowhere near as good 😂
Be more specific.... Which is nowhere near as good?
In those two keyboards which is more modern sounds and rhythms have for EDM ???
I'd consider Roland for edm before montage. But to be honest either could do the job. But for me I'd probably reach for a Roland board first if I was into EDM.
@@JuliusDeBerryJr Thank you bro
