‘Juice’ and Tupac’s What-If? Movie Career | The Rewatchables
My guess is that Big Nick double-crosses Donnie in Den of Thieves 2. I’m nervous they’ll make it overly unrealistic. The first movie was great because it was simple and, to some extent, believable-similar to The Town and Heat. If they turn the characters into something out of The Avengers, it’ll be a complete fail. This concern applies to Heat 2 as well.
There’s a wild ‘Ballers’ erasure going on whenever someone talks about Dwayne Johnson. That show was great because of him. He’s capable, but why would he do something that requires so much more effort if he’s still making millions per role.
So all the legacy sequel talk and film snob Sean missed the biggest one: the Antoine Doniel series. 400 Blows, Stolen Kisses, Bed and Board and Love on the Run. IMO way better than the Before series.
not to be too woke but this movie seems a bit fash-coded
The main problem with The Rock is that he can't be funny or charming or chill anymore because he can't relax or make a joke at his own expense. He feels constantly managed, like every decision is tested and made by committee to maximize his Q score. He never lets any actual personality through and it doesn't ever feel like he's going to do anything that will surprise you. He was was by far his most popular as a heel but he can't stand to be a heel anymore!
Idk I think the reason why The Rock’s doing the movie with Benny Sadfdie is because he wants to take that on as an actor and challenge himself a bit more rather than him feeling he’s losing the audience. You could argue the same about a guy like Adam Sandler, but I think both of those guys are genuinely just doing what they find interesting.
I thought of Bill Murray too. He was making a bunch of pretty straightforward comedies. Then he does Rushmore and he starts taking more roles in smaller, art house movies. Not a one to one comparison, but it seemed like he had reached a point in his career where he found these smaller movies more interesting.
Chris should come up with a back story for Wayne Jenkins! LOL! I have no idea, why that biker gang would be in the Bronx? Hell's Angels Rejects! I laughed so hard.
Rob Roy - great Liam Neeson, 1700’s Scottish revenge flick. Also.. DoT2 needs a strong and calculating adversary. Who is the ‘chess-playing tough guy’ counterpart; now that Big Nick flips? You’re only as good as your adversaries. 🤷♂️
Prediction - Butler is undercover and hasn’t flipped at all
I cannot fuckin believe Bill just said he hasn't seen LEBOWSKI!!!
I think Culkins performance doesn't look too good on a big screen. It's a very good, sensitive performance by what you may call a very good, sensitive "television actor" who simply lacks gravitas and charisma of a real potentialmovie star. Eisenberg as quite a dull character was much more memorable. That we even talked about Kieran as a favorite shows you what devestating effects cancel culture has had for the quality of Hollywood acting, not only in older generations. But I don't believe in neither Washington nor Guy Pearce winning, so Stanley Tucci has become my black horse in the race.
Bill is not listening at all to Chris during this podcast
Something About Mary is his funniest movie
The Last Jedi is wonderful? Is Mallory okay???
I haven't seen a single F&F film since the original and I have no reason to doubt that they're probably evoking it here, at least with this trailer, but I'll tell you the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the first trailer a couple of months ago now (FYI - this is the second trailer): French Connection II. And I'm positive if you asked Gudegast what his main influence was with this one he'd say it was that. Whether he'd honest with his answer is a different topic, but I'm positive that this will be his "official" answer during the press tour.
Michael Mann's HEAT is cult classic Brilliantly choreographed action scenes. Best shoot out in history of cinema. Michael Mann placing sound sensors on Guns to catch the actual sound. It's filled with Iconic lines and amazing performances by the legends Al Pacino & Robert De Niro. Michael Mann is dam good when he directs crime films be HEAT, Thief, Colletrall, Miami Vice HEAT is best work. HEAT 2 would be amazing eagerly awaited 🤘🏻👌🏼🎞🎬🎥💯
Brett Cullen looks so much like Glen Powell, it's eerie
Sean’s so upset by the election results you can tell lmao your dei pick didn’t win, get over it buddy.
“Where’s Benihana?” “That’s the problem” 😂😂😂
Guy Ritchie woukdn’t exist if not for Quentin
“You can do it too, but you have to eat shit for a decade” describes any artistic or writing endeavor perfectly.
Fortunately, Amanda Dobbins is not on this episode of the Big Picture Podcast. 5/5 stars
I watched the adrenaline part through the reflection in the living room window from the dining room pretending to read a book. I think I was 11.
Anyone ever see Sean Evans (Hot Ones) and CR in the same room?
Mallory is so desperate to pod with big picture people it’s very strange
Early in the Shute match, the referee calls the potential takedown out of bounds and yet when they return to center, they do not begin in the neutral stance but rather one wrestler in the down position and 2 points shows added to the scoreboard. So they ref should have ruled 2 points instead of "off the mat" OR they should have returned to neutral (up) positions rather than one wrestler being in the down position. I can't remember who was awarded the off the mat takedown, but it definitely was a "Flaw" in the scoring. It didn't detract from the overall quality of the fast moving match, but having two sons who wrestled, I have a trained eye for this and caught the flaw. This movie is one of my all time favorites, if not THE favorite of all movies I've watched. Matthew Modine did a wonderful job.
Trash movie that will be quickly forgotten.
Random thought: it will be a shame if the entire time Amanda is gone we don't fill the second chair with some Wesley Morris!
I would listen to these 3 talk about anything
Man The Rocks catalog is TERRIBLE, why is he taking these dog shit movies other than a check…Tf is going on!
Didnt realize how tough legacy sequels would be to rank. For sheer audacity coming back over two decades to Bates and Psycho shows so much balls its praiseworthy on own also resisting while some execs always reminding that they were still in the early 80s slasher boom but nope Franklin a Hitch disciple, had it in his mind while also upping the gore but it fit within. Psycho IIrare it gets better as ot ages. The Color of Money it's rare to be able to answer decades later what happened to fast Eddie, I thought the Two Jakes would work same way but it did not. What Halloween 2018 did for me is remove all the garbage with few exceptions from my favorite movie 78 completely eradicating rob z. from my brain. Loved how Flanagan weaved Kubricks imagery and parts of story into Kings book I was skeptical but it worked. Last was even more skeptical w trailer for Rocky Balboa but it's now my second favorite. Have to say top gun maverick does nothing for me I was born in 79 and don't have an ounce of nostalgia I can't figure out the love for it but I'm not gonna list all the reasons
I'm convinced these guys could pull off a great heist. They love "the juice" too much. This has to be a "Rewatchable"... i know you lot like to give the film some space, but i need to hear your thoughts when this drops!
I think Caruso got credited as an "and" in the pilot to Crime Story, like "and David Caruso as Jimmy Doyle," and I had no idea who he was, despite having watched Hill Street Blues regularly during season 1. I did kind of like Tarrantino's description of him as "Not as good as he thinks he is."
Who in Godfather II was the Thabo of 2012 OKC?
I hate my husband but loved my lovers. The best lovers were the ones that were like a Christmas gift you couldn't wait to tear open, play with like mad and with a sweet kiss, throw in the rubbish bin.
Pacino’s late stuff is rough, a lot of his early stuff is too. His great stuff is fucking INCREDIBLE
Every intense hbo, netflix multi-season series, fx series etc. tries to capture the end of Godfather 2 on their season finale every season one way or another.
Harry Dean Stanton was born 62
Bill is correct about Kay.
holy crap Bill, stfu for a second and let Van finish a single sentence! geezus
Will yall please do some Sergio Leone? Once Upon A Time In America? Once Upon A Time in the West?
Gladiator 2 was vomit on a screen. Nonsensical plotting, terrible CGI. Don't listen to critics nobody will watch this movie in 6 months.
Where did CR find the longsleeve polo with a hoodie pocket?
I often come back here for M&C > Gladiator take.
TAKE BILL TO THE MOVIES!!!
would’ve loved to hear yalls thoughts on Heretic, Ghostlight, The Last Showgirl, and Queer.
Should Bill be in concussion protocol? 🤔
Need that okc beanie
What they need for the 3rd one is an ensemble cast on the level of Butler. A cast of actors that are always fun and always up for this brand of classic cinema. I expect a big picture draft! ❤
SPOILER - Maybe it’s just me, but I always felt it was heavily hinted at in the first film that Lucius was Maximus’ son and that Maximus probably knew or at least suspected it to be true. Obviously it’s never overtly stated, but I didn’t even see it as a reveal here because I thought it was already implied!
