“How To”: 2016 Scion iA Front Brake Pads and Rotors
The Scion iA, built for only one year and based off the Mazda2, is a great little econo-car for those on a budget.
It’s fairly reliable, and parts for most regular maintenance repairs are pretty inexpensive.
The front brakes are easy to maintain, and for those in need, here’s a simple walkthrough on how to do the job yourself. For first timers, give yourself an hour or two of time just in case something doesn’t go smoothly.

“How To”: 2011 GMC Acadia Spark Plug Replacement
Переглядів 12 тис.2 роки тому
Changing the spark plugs on a vehicle is one of the staples of basic car maintenance. Modern iridium plugs can last up to 100,000 miles, so the frequency of changing them is far less, but just as vital. A bad spark plug can lead to serious and even catastrophic engine failure. Thankfully, it’s an easy job that only requires a few tools.

Переглядів 6 тис.2 роки тому
The wheel hub and bearing assembly on your vehicle are vital components to the drivetrain. They are what actually connect your wheels to the vehicle. Most modern vehicles use what is known as a hub and bering assembly, meaning that the hub - what the wheels connect to - and the bearing - what allows the wheel to spin smoothly - come as a packaged unit. These are fairly easy replace, and should ...

Let's just be honest for a moment... Gen 3 LS motors are going to leak oil. It's just a fact. Now that we can admit that, we can also fix the problem. Most oil leaks on the Gen 3 LS's come from one fo four places: 1. The valve covers, specifically the driver side. 2. The oil pressure sensor due to the o-ring going bad. 3. The parking brake on your vehicle plays a vital role. Not only does it keep your vehicle from moving, it also relives your transmission and the rest of your drivetrain from holding the entire weight of the vehicle on its own. One of the common issues on the GMT800 lineup concerns the shift linkage bushing on the transmission. It is known to fail at any moment, making it impossible for you to change gears, put the truck in neutral, or even in park. A temporary fix is to use a couple of zip-ties to hold the shift cable to the linkage, but again, this is purely a temporary fix. And while most corner auto parts stores w...

Awesome video thank you for making this so much less intimidating then I thought it was. I will use whatever bucket I have that I dont have to buy because I think the point is to save money by diy 😊 but I have all the other tools for sure
I'd only buy a 2006 or older without the AFM that breaks. Problem is most now are rust buckets or high miles on them...
100% agree. 03-06 is the sweet spot IMO.
Cleeean truck bro 😮
i put a 2002 Denali cluster in my 2001 Tahoe and everything works but the speedometer is 20 mph off. it's as if it's showing the 100mph speedometers info but the Denali cluster is 120mph. how can i fix this?
Honestly, I’m not really sure. One possibility though is that the owner of the Denali had a tune done and changed the speedometer settings. You may need to get it rebuilt and programmed for your Tahoe. But again, that’s just a WAG.

The filter seal should always be changed when you replace the filter.
Most of the problems are owner faults!
What happens when they discontinue them and it’s leaks and you can’t find one anywhere
If you’re talking about the self adjuster, there little chance they’ll stop making them. There are so many of these GMT800 trucks and SUV’s on the roads it’d be an uprising if they stopped making replacement parts for them.
@ mine is leaking so I went straight to GM and they looked it up for me for my 07 suburban it said discontinued on their screen and told me they stopped making them in 2017 so I was out of luck. Thanks for responding
How have the Mevotech Supreme parts held up for you?
I had to replace the tie rod boots after a couple months, but I chalk that up to the GM dealership probably tearing them when they did the alignment. The replacements have held up fine.
Best explanation by far!
Can a person get on top of the bed with the cover on
Thank you. i followed every step. it helped me out so much. i only had trouble when i opened the brake reservoir when i was pushing the piston in with the C clamp. brake fluid was seeping out so i had to out the cap right away😊
Omg!!! I did it thanks to you! Needed hubby to squeeze the top part of steering trim to separate. Joint effort. Thank you so much!!
Yours was the clearest and most complete explanation of this procedure that I could find. Greatly appreciate your hints.
Is there any issues with the bracket being installed between the master cylinder and booster? I'm looking to buy a 05 escalade that has brakes that stick and literally everything has been replaced on it. I've been reading online the rod going into the master cylinder is to long sometimes (if you don't go OEM even with the rod tighten down all the way) So would the booster leak if I installed the bracket between thus giving it the space to free up the brakes? Great video. hope to see a comment from someone with more knowledge than me on these hydro boosters
Yes, you will have issues if you put bracket in incorrectly. Please notice the beginning of the description where I clarify where I messed up in the video.
How’d you get the knuckle off the lower ball joint? Mine is stuck like crazy
A few decent hits with the hammer on the knuckle itself freed mine. If you’re having issues, a 20 minute WD40 soak goes a long way. Do that and then do the hammer strikes on the knuckle itself and it should let it pop.
Thank you. I just replaced this on my wife's truck after watching this. Thanks, brother
Thank you sir. You have helped me a lot again thanks.
Put some dye in it
Thanks bro. Already spent 900$ on tires, just to find out it’s my rotors that are really bad.263 to fix it. Call me cheap ( really just broke lol) thanks.
Don’t follow these instructions- as mentioned pull down on the steering column lock remove 4 screws, pull out on the steering column, pry apart the plastic cover and you’re there!
Good explanation on vehicle welcome to the avee family
That vushing kit is the same i need for a suburban 1500 motor 5.3?

how do you torque to spec if its by hand?
Would you be interested in making one and shipping it to me?
Shipping price would be ridiculous
@@takeroadslesstraveled6505 I am a ridiculous guy what you have made is exactly what I need and I am not a welder nor do I have access to one.
wish they didn't get rid of that cap on the 05-06
I wish Chevy would have kept making them honestly, it's way more useful than a modern 4 door 1500, and I bet even more people would buy these now than they did in the 2000s.
My 03 avalanche has been my home since 2019 and I'm finally closing on a house in November. 5 years of sacrifice well worth it
That’s right man
Congrats brother 💪🏽
Should have put a picture of it all popped out and and set up
My spare would drop about 2" then stop because the hook was frozen in place holding it. What I did was pull the cable down a couple more inches to prove it was the hook then retracted the cable just enough so that the spring would start to compress barely lifting the spare. I then had enough play in the spare to rotate the mechanism within the center hole of spare and lined up the hook side with a lug hole (opposite side where you can just barely see the cable through a lug hole), then with a 1/4" rod about 10" long fed though the lug hole and against the hook side of retainer, hit a couple times with a hammer to push the seized hook in, then was able to lower the spare the rest of the way normally...worked like a charm on first try!!! PS: I think this will only work with a steel wheel, since it is very difficult to see through the lug hole and with a deeper lug hole you couldn't achieve the proper angle to line the 1/4" rod up with the hook area. I haven't yet decided whether to cut the hook off or lube the hell out of it.
Any torque settings for bolts since you are dealing with aluminum ( don't want to mush)?
You put the bracket on too soon it should be the outermost item before bolting on I checked your video and confirmed it.
Yes, you are correct. Please note that I called myself out in the description. I wish I could edit this again.
Excellent Explination. Approximate time needed ?
Just installed a new cluster in a 2005 Caddy Escalade Ext. Your instructions were spot on. Thanks.
Some good info here. Too bad the camera moved away at every critical point, lol. And thanks for skipping over the important parts, like taking the bracket off, removing the o-ring, and taking the filter off and putting it back on.
Shouldn't the gasket with dual holes work for your vehicle too, but not the other way around, single oval hole gasket definitely wouldn't work if there's an oil cooler present?
didn’t even show how he drained it ????
I love the sound of a nice mig weld! 5:50
This vid was by FAR the best out there , I got it done in less than 30 Mins. I cut the plastic tab to allow easy access with my Dremel tool and cutting wheel. Pulled old one out and popped the new unit in after lubing it with silicone spray . Works like new , thanks !!
Sorry I know this has been a while but I'm wondering which q clips you bought. The link to Amazon goes to a listing with a bunch of options. Thanks in advance.
Oh sorry, I just got to the part where you said you got it off of market place. You may not know which specific one you've got
Q30 clips. I had the old style though, so you may need to call YAKIMA to see if they’re even still available.
@@takeroadslesstraveled6505thanks for the quick reply
Just a tip I learned dealing with my Chevy Avalanche 2002 1500: My hoist was binding and I couldn't get it to turn (while the spare tire was still in place). It would just turn a little bit and then click and not turn anymore so it would not lower the cable. I was considering cutting the cable and then ordering a new hoist. To remove the hoist I figured I had to wiggle it a bit, but since the spare tire was still attached and tight against the frame, I wasn't sure how I could wiggle it. So next I let out some air from the tire and that released the tension on the hoist and then IT STOPPED BINDING and worked normally.
Good vid. Easy to follow. It's amazing how cheaply vehicles are built these days. Plug and play, and mostly disposable....
How did you get your clearance lights on the back of the mirror to work??? Mine has blue wire that is for the reverse light. But nothing for the clearance.
Mine have the reverse lights on the back and the turn signal on the front.
@@takeroadslesstraveled6505thanks. I thought my lights on the backside were actually clearance lights. Ended up being another set of blinker lights lol. So all I had to do was hook up the blue wire for the reverse lights.
Where did you get the grille for your Avalanche?
It’s the factory grill. I just sanded the chrome and color matched it to the truck. The black Chevy bow tie was purchased on Amazon.
How do you know if the thermostat is not working properly? My 2002 Tahoe starts to heat up only when it is stopped, when I start running the temperature drops
Old coolant, low coolant, air in the cooling system, and a malfunctioning radiator fan are all possible causes for overheating when idling but cooler temps while driving. A stuck thermostat would produce different symptoms (stuck open the engine wouldn’t reach optimal temps; stuck closed it would overheat constantly).
@@takeroadslesstraveled6505 Thanks for the advice, in my case it is probably the fan, I am going to change the fan and then I will tell you how it went, thanks friend
