Casio MT-100 - classic Casiotone with graphic equalizer
Переглядів 4,1 тис.7 місяців тому
The Casiotone MT-100 (1985) uses the classic early 80s vowel-consonant synthesis used in the MT-400V, but instead of a low-pass filter, it adds a 5-band graphic equalizer. I used the graphic EQ on most of the sounds, including the drums. It’s good for getting some extra brightness and clarity in sounds that have a lot of mid-range frequencies by default. The EQ bands start with 350Hz, so unfort...
Yamaha Portasound PSS-11 - compact keyboard with AWM sounds
Переглядів 3,8 тис.8 місяців тому
The Yamaha PSS-11 is a small keyboard from 1992 with an AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) tone generator, as Yamaha tried to put more realistic sounds based on samples into their home keyboard range, seen as a step up from the FM sound chips that had dominated the PSS range in the second half of the 90s. The PSS-11 has only 39 basic sounds, including percussion. The rest of the 100 voices on offer are...
Yamaha keytar as MIDI controller - SHS-10 playing Reface CS and CP
Переглядів 9948 місяців тому
Using two keyboards from the Reface series as sound modules for the SHS-10 to play via MIDI. The SHS-10 has a MIDI out only, which can be connected to the Reface keyboards via a standard MIDI cable. The pitch bend, sustain and vibrato controls on the SHS-10 all map to controls on the Reface. On the CS, vibrato controls the LFO depth, switching to its highest setting when pressed. Since the LFO ...
Casio HT-3000 - Spectrum Dynamic synth
Переглядів 3,9 тис.9 місяців тому
The HT-3000 (1987) is from the digital-analogue hybrid "Spectrum Dynamic" synthesis family of Casio keyboards. It has a DCO-VCF-DCA synthesis structure with a single oscillator, but using initial waveforms that vary over time, with a resonant analogue filter and a stereo chorus effect with three modes. Parameters can all be edited, although the interface is irritating; one parameter (e.g. filte...

Great! Love noize. It has it all! Literally 💝
Wow, this is so impressive! We used to have this keyboard at home when I was a kid. I never could play it and simply played with the different sounds and automatic drum beats. Would have been completely blown away, if I had known back then, that the keyboard could be used to create great tracks like this!
Crazy fun soundtrack!
Cheers!
Still one of your best ;)
Cheers! Nice to see you back around
Nice! An interesting (and quite expensive) analogue device, you must be enjoying yourself ;) With the single everything limitation, I imagine it must require some ingenuity and patience to find each sound and then sequence - the opposite of a microkorg. The springy bass sound is my favourite. I wonder if this would marry well with a multi fx pedal or a phaser to add depth?
Cheers. This one is with family in the Netherlands, hence I didn't have my usual setup. Despite its apparent limitations there is a lot of sound design possible, especially using the patch cables. Definitely some outboard fx would add a little extra.
Very nice vibes. I love how you exploited all the oscillators instead of focusing 90% on the supersaw. I would very much like to hear you play the Reface DX
Thanks. Reface DX is the only one I haven't tried, I have to admit.
I assume you're already aware, but you could also hook up a midi cable from the keyboard to your PC - though you'd need something like a basic midi to USB converter, or an audio interface which has a midi socket builtin. You could then presumably use it to sequence your songs with whichever samples etc you want in your PC software. Back in the day there was no need for a special adaptor, as midi cables would usually connect via the game/joystick port that was present on pretty much all sound cards.
is there a way to make synthesis ?
Is it still possible to make a secret piano sound on it?
Yes, when you put it into test mode you get an acoustic piano sound.
Synthwave sounds that are out of this world! 🌎 😮
I love that you found some use for the Toy piano sound lol Very nice arrangement
I would like to ask 2 questions, if somebody would like to answer owning a ps 380. 1st, a minor problem with mine. I have bought 2. The both have a an echo, pretty quietly on the sound. I assume this is normal, but is it and Can it be fixed, sonthere's no sound following the intended sound. 2 is there a midi in mod for this thing? And maybe a modulation mod with more steps and a second voice modulation option?
I like this mix much better! This is GREAT!!
Just found one of these in my in-laws basement, sounds kinda rough but some of the preset drum patterns are funky as hell and while those are going you can flip the chord switch on and it sorta does an arpeggio with them, gets weird quick.
The best demo of this keyboard, and very inspiring. If I'm not mistaken you didn't use the Y organ. It is very similar to the V imo, just with a softer attack. I really like how you built your A sound, almost like an analogue saw patch
True, Y and V are fairly similar, so I didn't find space in this tune for both. I also liked how fat the A sounded with some distortion and the right blend of harmonics. Thanks for listening.
this is one of the best work on my childhood toy synth
Do You think that all of your work will see an album daylight ? I think i wanna have the first one signed 🙏
I haven't got any physical copies to sign, I'm afraid, but you can find everything on Bandcamp for download alfonse.bandcamp.com/album/a-l-f A few tunes (including this) also made it to Spotify
@@alfonsemusic i have 2:11 Received TODAY PSS 190 i have allready VSS200 and also Yamaha psr the one with cubic ( pss 140 ) drums in the right upper corner. My Little boy is Astonished about them , not tobmention That he is Autistic. perhaps în the ne-ar future You will maken Something with psr 60 i have That one also and Yamaha Drums dd 10 a peare of twins 🤫
Not exactly real world example with all those reverb machines and gizmos 😂. Yeah, it sounds good when you add ton of hardware with it.
I wish I could find one again. Oh the memories.
Excellent!!! :)
Nice! Are all sounds coming from the module, drums too? Rompler? Easy/hard to program? Multitimbral I assume? 😅
All sounds are from the module including drums, but multitracked in a DAW. It is multitimbral. Needs some menu diving to program, but not the worst experience. Has some great late 80s / early 90s sounds.
This was my first „gear“, when I was a kid. Really getting emotional😅 I can remember, that I played late into the night until I fell asleep on the keyboard, only to get right back to it the next morning. Thank you for this trip back to my childhood. The funny thing about this synth is, that you can move the sliders up and down and get always different results, so I documented the steps I made, sometimes about 20 steps to reproduce good sounds.
Again ... Love this one. Reminds me of my childhood and also Leftfield... Does this one have portamento? I have the 470 and the 580, but some of these sounds are impossible to program on them, which leaves me in frustration. the sounds you made on this thing are amazing. If i am wrong and all these sounds are programmable on the 470 and 580, i would love to know how
Thanks. It's a great sounding keyboard and an advancement of the FM capability from the 580 (which was an advancement from the 470), so in general the sounds aren't reproducible (depends on the exact sound and how close you want to get, but as a rule I'd say not). There's no portamento on the 380.
I was like "hmm... these keyboard demos don't usually sound this good" - then I realised it was u lol

this was the first casio i picked up. i own 4 total now, my MT52 is my rosebud <3
Great play and video, and love the little bot!
Thanks. I try to exercise the bot whenever I can.
I have the 460 model. Nowhere near as nice as this model. Now I want this!
They each have their own sound. Both is an option...! :D
hell yeah! this is great dude! way to go!
My Beloved First Synth ,that i allso had to sell it ...later in life regretit, what could have i done it more with it...better not to think about it...
Mint
Bravo! 👏👏
Bought one of these recently and fixed/cleaned it up; what a tank, this thing is big lol. I love it, the eight voices of polyphony is a treat and with the EQ + Sustain or "Reverb" you can get some wild pads out of it. I personally love warping the sounds of the Trumpet, Accordian, and Celesta with the EQ, and putting this bad boy through a delay or two is a delight. Chord mode is fun too, and the cheesy drums are surprisingly versatile. A great old Casiotone, maybe one of the best.
Just found this at a junk yard. Sounds exactly like this video on 66, haha!
I recently picked up one of these from ebay. Fantastic sound, and love the EQ.
👏 I’m sold. ❤ just bought one on eBay for 30+10 quid, whoohoo (hope it works as they promise). You playing with the equalizer in the beginning, as well as writing this nostalgic melody totally convinced me. Thank you :-)
Thanks very much! Nice, that sounds like a good price. Hope it's all in good order when it shows up. Enjoy!
Amazing demonstration! I love your playing and song. Two questions before I buy it: 1. Excuse my ignorance but can I simply connect this to my macbook and use it as a midi keyboard? 2. At 1 minute and 17 seconds it sounds like you are bending a note. How did you do that? Please share your black magic with us. Again, thanks for sharing your talent and creativity! What you are doing is really inspiring.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. 1. Yes, it has a USB port, so you can connect via USB and play midi instruments, or if you have midi ports on an audio interface you can use classic MIDI DIN cables. 2. I'm using the onboard delay on that lead sound. When you change the length of the delay while playing, the repeated note is stretched to fit the longer or shorter time interval and the pitch gets bent down or up as a result. You can see me doing it again at 1:26
@@alfonsemusic Thanks :) I like your playing. It would be really valuable if you could make a tutorial for how to play simple chords and make it sound good on this small keyboard for singer-songwriter type of songs :)
This was way better than I imagined it would be when I clicked on the video. Wanted a snippet but stayed for the whole jam. What a vibe <3
What is that music?
