The Reface YC (2015) provides five classic organ sounds, plus rotary speaker, distortion and reverb effects, in a small package with mini keys. Casio MT-100 - classic Casiotone with graphic equalizer
Переглядів 2,2 тис.3 місяці тому
The Casiotone MT-100 (1985) uses the classic early 80s vowel-consonant synthesis used in the MT-400V, but instead of a low-pass filter, it adds a 5-band graphic equalizer. I used the graphic EQ on most of the sounds, including the drums. It’s good for getting some extra brightness and clarity in sounds that have a lot of mid-range frequencies by default. The EQ bands start with 350Hz, so unfort...
Yamaha Portasound PSS-11 - compact keyboard with AWM sounds
Переглядів 2,7 тис.4 місяці тому
The Yamaha PSS-11 is a small keyboard from 1992 with an AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) tone generator, as Yamaha tried to put more realistic sounds based on samples into their home keyboard range, seen as a step up from the FM sound chips that had dominated the PSS range in the second half of the 90s. The PSS-11 has only 39 basic sounds, including percussion. The rest of the 100 voices on offer are...
Yamaha keytar as MIDI controller - SHS-10 playing Reface CS and CP
Переглядів 8014 місяці тому
Using two keyboards from the Reface series as sound modules for the SHS-10 to play via MIDI. The SHS-10 has a MIDI out only, which can be connected to the Reface keyboards via a standard MIDI cable. The pitch bend, sustain and vibrato controls on the SHS-10 all map to controls on the Reface. On the CS, vibrato controls the LFO depth, switching to its highest setting when pressed. Since the LFO ...
Casio HT-3000 - Spectrum Dynamic synth
Переглядів 2,5 тис.5 місяців тому
The HT-3000 (1987) is from the digital-analogue hybrid "Spectrum Dynamic" synthesis family of Casio keyboards. It has a DCO-VCF-DCA synthesis structure with a single oscillator, but using initial waveforms that vary over time, with a resonant analogue filter and a stereo chorus effect with three modes. Parameters can all be edited, although the interface is irritating; one parameter (e.g. filte...

Roland JU-06A - Dive Into the Light
Переглядів 2,7 тис.9 місяців тому
The JU-06A is a Boutique series recreation of the Juno 106 and 60 models in one tiny digital box. Packs a great sounding punch for a battery operated, mini-speaker-toting module. The Juno chorus is a classic sought-after sound in itself, which really adds thickness, width and life to the single oscillator sound of the Juno. In this track, I used a smooth brassy patch with added chorus for the m...

Awesome grooves! Just bought a reface cs. I love my Yamaha workstation but the cs is so easy to create on!
На месте ямахи я б не поскупился за такую рекламу 👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I have the same Yamaha chorus pedal it’s a good one
Yes, I really like it - works well with keyboard sounds
Sounds like a cool depeche mode song from around 83
Not exactly the same but I have a 480 gathering dust in the studio. Thanks for reminding me. Setting it up!
No worries. Enjoy!
Is this a good beginner synth?
I would say yes. - it has a simple interface and a very hands-on approach, so it's good for exploring how all the parameters work (although you can also save and load presets to/from a computer if you want)
That was my first keyboard in 1986.
Beautiful, Simple, perfect. Bravo!
!!!
this demo is multi tracked. the instrument is not multi-timbral, nor has a layering sequencer.
Yes, it's a track I made with the synth, rather than a "demo" per se.
Wow!! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Cherry picked by GG's AI to comment this one!? OK!:) Amazing track! Now i know why i always wanted to try Juno so much, ha! Thank you!
or not!:)
This is amazing. So 80s
почти как музыка из кинофильма "Курьер" )
the sequencer massages my brain in the morning <3
Informatic trouble in the World 😮😂😂😂
How did you connect it to the pedals? Or interface? Thanks!
Via an audio cable plugged into the headphone jack on the right hand side
Sega Megadrive anyone?
were you using midi sound or the sound basic?
All sounds were from the keyboard, recorded to a computer as audio, not playing other sounds via midi. I have done another video where I used it as a midi controller, though: ua-cam.com/video/Otd748Z8qm4/v-deo.html
Really great track you made with this, well done!
one of the best track for me! Many thanks
Thanks, glad you like it
grazie
Picked one of these up a few months ago. Fantastic sound.
This sounds amazing, thank you for posting. Just picked up a nice one of these, on ebay. In order to link it up to my laptop, is there a specific interface and cables required?
You can use old school midi cables with an audio interface that has midi ports, or buy either a midi interface (eg subzero 4x4) or a midi to usb cable. For the audio, I used a stereo splitter cable from the headphone out on the keyboard to inputs 1 and 2 on my audio interface.
@@alfonsemusic Thank you for the advice & information. Appreciated.
I mostly used #82 Strings on this keyboard it was great for working out and playing 80's pop melodies. I switch it on and my fingers automatically went the number selection buttons to punch in 82. oh the memories this video brings back. 1988-1991 Thank you.
❤
Do you not have the Reface DX?! That’s the best one!!
You'd recommend the purchase?
Don't underestimate the total power of General MIDI (GM)
EXCELLENT TRACK MAN !!
Thanks!
Buon pomeriggio volevo chiederti che drum machine hai usato , e che tipo di effetti grazie
I used a DMX kick, snare and toms, Linndrum hi-hats, and Addictive Drums cymbals.
@@alfonsemusic grazie si sentiva i timbri bellissimi
Beautiful! And not too many effects
BELLISSIMA COMPLIMENTI
You're so good at getting the most out of these old synths. Cheers!
how would you classify this digital synth? its not pulse code modulation. so is it wavetable synthesis? or is it related to casio's phase distortion synthesis?
Not as complex as wavetable synthesis, I think. The Wikipedia entry says "modeled on traditional DCO-VCF-DCA analog synthesis but used waveforms that included predefined variations over time. The SD sound source is a 4-bit (16-step) digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) that uses waveforms including triangles, sawtooth, squares of different widths, and some unusual pulses, plus various combinations thereof"
Seeing this keyboard for sale for £50 brought me here to check it out I'm glad I did,, Thanks,, nice sounds 👌
This is a terrific demonstration of how usable the patches on this keyboard are. A very thoughtful and catchy arrangement showcasing the best of the Technics. I love my synth, and I love hearing the drum fills and 'signature sounds' in this track. Great work!
Great demo , of a underrated gem ⚡️
❤ Yamaha SY22 and its tabletop module version TG33 absolutely belongs in the list of greatly underrated excellent synthesizers of all timez! 🙌🙌👏👏
Fake! I had this model since i was 8, and these are not the original sounds. It coms with the YM3812 Sound Chip. the same as OPL Sound blaster and Adlib Cards from 90´s . Is not a kids toy, but for sure, not more than a beginners keyboard student instrument. Also it donesnçt have any reverb or delay.
I had a few comments about the amount of FX used on the first few keyboard videos I made. Here's the same track with the raw keyboard sounds and just a little reverb added in the DAW ua-cam.com/video/Pau4zRmw38g/v-deo.html
@@alfonsemusic Honestly, You´re right , i´ve listened the last link you sent, and yes, that are the real sound of my beloved Yamaha Portasound Pss-190 Stereo. Indeed, it sounds to me a octave-gap 2 layer voice of Flute+Clarinet, used in some interlude on the "Brother John" demo. I´m sorry for the first untrust, Rather, Thank you for the nostalgic memories. You have a good fingering skills; you don´t need Arpeggiators , haha . I love keyboard and piano, but i´m not as talented as i wuld want. Here i have some random videos playing in a newer keyboard. using VSTIs . ua-cam.com/video/lKOtG7UB2Xs/v-deo.html
No problem, cheers!
Yet another post from someone who picked up a CT-360 second hand. Great jam, and I think that the unique bass sound you get adds to the song. The layered part is another favourite. I was a bit hesitant picking the CT-360 up since I have a MT-540 and used a number of the later PCM tonebank (100 presets) Casios. To my surprise this is it's own thing! I thought all the pre-100 preset casios had the same samples. I like this over the rest of them, too bad there is no sustain pedal. :)
Also - your video made me get out of a creative rut and actually record something. At least a start to a synthwave track. Layering the strings (one slightly detuned) gives great results with just a touch of reverb!
That's great, I'm always happy when one of these videos inspires someone to make something. :) Yes, there's surprising variety in the earlier Casios - I think they were just trying out random ideas for a while, which made for some interesting products.
Even though I have a MODX+ and a Pro 3 now, I still sorta miss my PSS 780. 61 key keyboard, small and light enough to bring anywhere with batteries and build-in speakers.
i have this exact keyboard, what kind of cable did you use to record the audio into your DAW?
A stereo cable from the headphone output, split to left and right on the other end
@@alfonsemusic thanks!
After all, it's a song about my cat :) You inspired me to take the PSS480 out of the closet.
que bien suena, yo tengo el mismo modelo pero no prende 😓
Now I know who wrote for Kiesz - Hideaway ;))
😆
I didn't even know that Yamaha released such a gem back then :)
Worth getting if you can find one
my first keyboard ever. Annoyed my parents with 24/7 last christmas
😆
Omg
I just ordered one of these from Sweetwater because they had it on sale for $150 off. They have the DX reface for $250 which is a steal as well
Just bought a used HT-700 but it did not come with the power adapter. The seller said it works with batteries but this was before he sold it to me and then ghosted me. My question is, is there a specific type of battery this keyboard uses in order to power it up? Or a regular D size battery should work? Or did I just get scammed? lol
Yes, I think it needs 6x D batteries. The manual is here: www.polynominal.com/site/studio/gear/sold/casio_ht700/casio-ht700-manual.pdf
I want to buy second hand xp10 keybord
