Thanks! Both the 35 and 22 have a mixture of sound generators: 2x FM (each 2-op) and 2x AWM. You can switch off the oscillators you don't want to use when building a patch, so there's the potential for just FM sounds. From what I read, the SY77 and 99 had 6 operator FM capability, but the 55 and 85 had no FM at all.
What he said, that said with only two FM operators you’re going to be limited in FM compared to even what a DX11 could do. However, the vector synth approach is what makes the 22 and the 35 really shine.
I would say that the SY35 has the edge. It had some upgrades on the SY22, but also I found the presets more interesting and varied, with some cool vector possibilities. I've seen portamento/glide mentioned on a site about the SY35, but I don't recall seeing it in the menus for either of them. I didn't properly get into editing patches, though, beyond a few experiments that were less interesting than the presets...
This is awesome. You create so gorgeous tracks ❤
Thanks, Matias!
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!
Thanks!

You are doing a great job. Which one is your favourite and why?
Also, does the 22 have portamento like the 35?
Thanks in advance!

Very cool! This actually makes me want to dust off my SY22!
Go for it!
don't do anything rash!
Even I have modern synths, the SY22 sounds still keep ending in many of my projects.
There is something about them, it's true. They tend to sit nicely in the mix, too.
I completely agree with both of you!
Thank you 🎶 many blessings in Jesus Christ name
The way to go.

Why do you have both? Aren't they so similar that it's not really worth having both?
One was on loan. They are very similar, but I'd choose the SY35 over the 22.
