Quick Cheese souffle
Soufflees are for the professionals. That's not true.
I'm showing you here that you need a few skills - all shown in less than 3 minutes. A cheese souffle makes a wonderful starter, or in larger pots, a main course.
Normally your guests will be waiting to be served - not for this, they have to wait till the moment the soufflees come out of the oven!

Best ever choc mousse cake
Переглядів 11414 днів тому
Something as sumptuous as this looks complicated, but it has so few ingredients. The skill lies in whisking the egg whites and yolks separately, each with sugar added slowly till you have two really thick mixtures. Melted chocolate completes the mix. The decorative swirls can be made long in advance - a stylish touch, but if you prefer you could just add grated chocolate. This cake contains no ...
I'M BACK
Переглядів 23Місяць тому
'Back' refers to getting back to food, as opposed to suggesting 'a good read'! I really like this restaurant-style presentation of a simple salmon or vegetable dish. It's conveniently served cold and call all be prepared in advance. The good news is that it's far simpler than you would guess.
Salmon and vegetable bites

A cool summer dish (also suitable for vegetarians). My idea was to make a restaurant-style presentation, but by showing you the steps, you'll see how easy it is. You can serve the salmon rings with the mixed vegetable ones or just let your guests choose.
Episodes - a wartime story
Переглядів 22Місяць тому
On my 85th birthday I am allowing myself to look back on the past. You may not know that as well as writing about food, I have written two novels and the book I am featuring today. It is a serious memoir about two little girls in wartime Britain and Poland. This video tells you something about me and my co-author Monika Sears and you will hear us both speaking about our experiences. What you do...
A good read
Переглядів 27Місяць тому
Although I wrote this book five years ago, it is still resonant today. It is a story, told in the voices of two little girls: one living through wartime Britain in the 1940s, the other struggling to stay alive in Nazi occupied Poland during the same period. The interspersed stories of the two girls are both funny, and at times heartbreakingly serious.

Two years ago I invented the May Makeover. It was in 4 parts: 1. Cut down on sugar (with the best ever sugar free chocolate dessert) 2. Say no to second helpings 3. Take a walk (and then make ice cream) 4. Get more sleep Coming up now is the first one, encouraging you to cut down on sweet things, without compromising on taste. You can find the others by looking on You Tube GRANNY JUDY COOKS, an...
Butter pastries - give it a whirl

The exciting thing about these pastries is that they look and taste original. But the real news is that when you've made them, you will have learned a new skill.
chicken with Marsala wine and mushrooms

This is a remake of an older video. I now show you in about 3 minutes what used to take much longer. I believe we all need inspiration to produce something stylish and tasty without a lengthy list of ingredients or long cooking time. So here it is!
Cool chicken salad

Here is the recollection of the original video - a salad for all seasons. Although it's called Chicken Salad, you can omit the meat and just add more vegetables to make it a great vegetarian dish.

Coming up are three videos - what I call Re-collections. They come, of course, from my own recipe collection and are chosen to be featured again from the 100 or more videos I have put up. I know that many thousands of people have recently been viewing my work, so I am fairly sure these will be new for you. The style of the earlier ones is different and in many cases longer that what I choose to...
Chocolate brownies
Переглядів 895 місяців тому
This is the 3rd in the 'Take A Gift' series. Something quick and easy to bake: the perfect gift and a change from flowers or chocolates. There are many recipes for fudgy brownies. What makes these different is first that they are dairy free, using oil instead of butter, then they don't contain the usual cocoa, but just dark chocolate, melted and mixed with very few other ingredients.
Take a gift - fresh tomato sauce
Переглядів 1605 місяців тому
Continuing with the 2nd of three 'shorts' I am showing you how to make the second 'gift'. The fresh tomato sauce is made from large tomatoes - at their best in summer time, but still enjoyable in winter if lightly cooked with garlic and basil. Your gift can include a link to the instructions I am showing and also a small bunch of fresh aromatic basil. This is the one ingredient that may not be ...
Intro to first of 3 new 'shorts'
Переглядів 326 місяців тому
My new idea when cooking, is to have in mind someone else. If you are invited to a friend’s home for lunch or dinner, instead of chocolates or flowers, take something homemade. As well as the finished product, add recipe notes and one item they might find hard to find in their kitchen. In this case it’s flaked almonds. Everything else would be easy to find.
Take a gift - Almond biscuits

This is the first of 3 videos featuring a home made gift. Bake the almond biscuits, jot down the recipe details and take them to a friend. The final touch is to add a pack of flaked almonds - the one ingredient that maybe difficult to find.

This looks absolutely delicious. It's amazingly impressive that you managed that tricky job to keep the skin whole while lifting it almost entirely off the breast. You didn't show how you started this - hope you can show that next time!

I would omit the raisins & mixed spice, sauté celery with the onions & peeled apple, and keep the stuffing savoury with poultry seasoning instead. The way to cook it: hot - warm - hot, is the important thing that most yt chefs do improperly. Good Tutorial.
