Husqvarna 3-series plastic intake clamp. Should have been a factory recall!
Переглядів 4,2 тис.3 роки тому
A lot of the 3-series Husqvarna saws that had this clamp, died an early death because of it. It should have been a factory recall in my eyes. There are a few different fixes for this issue. My choice is to use a factory 372xp x-torq or 390xp factory metal intake clamp in its place.
Newest addition to the family, 3120xp first start. It's bone stock....... for now.
Переглядів 8553 роки тому
Here's the build so far. It'll be getting an unlimited coil off a 272xp as well a a high speed jet added to the Walbro WG6 carburetor. Just waiting on parts to arrive. Once those two things are addressed, it'll go under the knife and get ported opeforum.com/threads/just-another-3120xp-build-but-its-my-first.25457/

    I gave up playing with the throttle rod after umpty umpty times reassembling only to have the rod fall out of the plastic trigger hole. From the beginning I thought "what a sloppy design." I decided to take it to the Stihl dealer where I disassembled it in front of the mechanic to specifically show him the problem. The mechanic said the handle cover should hold the rod in place, where I commented "bad design." I left with the rod working and the mechanic saying "you should be good to go," but not running the saw. Today when I tried to use the saw, you guessed it, no throttle. I brought the saw back to the dealer today. What I see is obvious that the end of the rod that goes into the plastic hole goes in less than half the thickness of the plastic. We'll see - - I'll keep you posted.

    What was the saw doing that you knew it leaking air there? My bogs down and I've done everything to it ant still the same. But it sounds like it's leaking air on the bottom of the saw.

    • @samishsawworks5870
      @samishsawworks5870 Місяць тому

      @milusoscualquierascz265 saw would randomly bog on acceleration. It would lean out in the cut. Idle would be randomly rich/ lean. Never could get the carb "dialed in" I'd adjust it, it would seem fine for a short bit, then the tune would be off for no reason.

    I just picked up one of these saws from a friend and can’t find any great info on bar and chain compatibility. What do you have or could you share what info I need to use to find the right one? Right now the saw has a bow blade and chain on it

    • @samishsawworks5870
      @samishsawworks5870 Місяць тому

      @chase2124 it should be set up for 3/8 pitch chain from the factory. The most readily available bar for them would be to run a Husqvarna large mount bar pattern on them. In an Oregon bar it is their D009 mount. The bar slot is just a touch big for the studs, but it works without issue & oils as it should. They sell adapters or sleeves for the studs if you want the bar to fit perfectly.

    This is probably the best detailed instruction video ever, many thanks. I went on your video to resolve why my MS193T throttle linkage rod doesn't stay in the plastic hole in the trigger lock. This is the rod that's in the handle and it's the end facing the front of the saw, and the hole is in the midddle plastic piece of three. I watched you install the rod in this plastic hole that looked like a very lose fit just like mine. When I assemble the handle the rod falls out. What keeps the rod from falling out? I've hardlly used this saw, it's practically new.

    Excellent video. I have a really nice 026 that I bought new over 20 years ago. Wonderful saw that never let me down until one day, several years ago, when I was working it hard on a big log. It suddenly stopped running and has no spark. Since I had other saws, I've put repairing it on the backburner until now. After watching your video, I feel confident enough to try to repair it myself. Thank you!

  • @HawtSawz86

    I don’t understand the negative comments. If people are too afraid to modify a muffler, then don’t, and by the way, why did you watch the video? He didn’t do anything to hurt the saw short or long term. If anything, this has the potential to improve the life of the saw because the heat can get out of the cylinder and it will not heat soak as much cut after cut, causing the piston to stay cooler and not expand in the bore… blah blah, it doesn’t matter, I’m not saving the world here by trying to educate curmudgeons. I regret even typing this. With proper tuning, this will help the saw. If you can’t figure out how to say something positive, then don’t. If you don’t know how to tune a chainsaw, watch one of the other 50 videos on UA-cam that go over it. If you don’t know the size of the muffler bolts, Google it, it’s widely available info. Man, I hope you get some better followers in your comments section. 🤢

    very nice video. I used this to help me with a tear down. AT 10:20 you remove the white plastic piece to remove the black plug to get to the screw. I am having a problem putting that back together. I cannot tell if that white piece goes over the flat part of the plug or lines up with it. It seems it should like up with it but I cannot get it to. I only wants to overlap the black plug and that does not seem right. I am trying to tell from your video if that is the case or not before your remove it but cannot quite tell.

    Two stoke motors have a special design for a reason, dirt bikes for example if you dent that can on the exhaust it with affect the way the motor runs and can cause damage to it. Sounds beastly but I'm sure doing that will ruin your motor in a short period. Maybe drilling a hole or two in the baffle would be ok but still a risk I wouldn't take, unless I've done some work to the motor itself.
