Sega is still huge in the arcade sector iirc, if they leaned on that like the early days they could potentially carve out a niche in the console market again. I think you're focusing too hard on the games themselves, they can do all of that right now without making a new console. If they were going to enter that market again they'd need a console that really stands apart from the others, it can't just be yet another "PC in a fancy case". Nintendo has the right idea, originality is more important than power

Do megaman x,zero, zx and legends really count as a spinoff series? When they are all in a timeline... doesnt it make them mainline in a way? I mean maybe sideseries would be a better word for it cause they continue megamans story

While the game play isn’t riveting, the overall vibe, music, art, ideas, and philosophy are what really put this game in my top 5. It made me think, and years later I think about aspects of it almost daily. A true masterpiece

Hey, as a Pokémon fan that used to only watch the anime and then got (Ik) let’s go Eevee. I’ve never been interested in Nintendo’s hand held consoles except the Game Boy Color and obviously the Switch. Which I have both. I don’t know how much the old Pokémon games cost, but I haven’t wanted to find out and I haven’t liked how you have to hurt Pokémon when you’re going to enslave them to fight anyway. So when let’s go Eevee finally came out, I got it and I loved playing it. I have heard talk about the graphics being bad and that’s untrue. It has a great art style. What most people are really mad about is the animations, but I have found the lack of animations a charming way to stay in budget, to give the animators less of a work load, and to stay true to the original. The majority have a problem with the capturing mechanic. I personally liked it because I don’t have to hurt the Pokémon, it doesn’t take too long, and I can get over any janky motion controls because I’ve played with a Wii U game pad for too long. So I think the main complaint is that it brings fans from Pokémon Go to the wider fan base. Yes, Pokémon Go was dull for the main fans of the series, but it’s lame to gate keep people because of it. I think it’s cool that more people are into Pokémon Go. I wonder why people had such a strong reaction to it.

Jet Set Radio is such a lovely game series. A bit arcadey but does offer a story and progression. Would love to see it go open world.

I loved Hey You Pikachu and Pokemon Yellow. Eevee is also my favorite pokemon. So of course I picked this up, and I did enjoy it kind of mindlessly for a bit, but gave up right at the town you can trade your Pokemon Go pokemon to your Let's Go game. My partner and I also played Pokemon Go all during our honeymoon, haha, it was great fun but we never got as crazy into it as some folks did. I think these two games were meant for younger players and are great for them, and I think can be enjoyable if you just want to chill. Pokemon Arceus however...God I loved that game. Beat it and beat it again and I'd love a sequel or DLC content. It blew these two games out of the water in my opinion, haha. Surprise hit for myself.

I beat earthbound myself earlier this year, it really surprised me with how quirky and fun to learn it is. Also it’s kinda crazy how early this game was doing fourth wall breaks! Games hadn’t really done that at that point. And I was also surprised to learn that the meme music (the music that people use when a meme makes you go, “huh?”) was from this game. But yeah loved the battle mechanics. My fav fight was probably the carbon dog fight. Favorite area might be moonside just because I didn’t expect it. Fav enemy is probably the Beautiful UFO just because I love the concept of taking something that would never be associated with cuteness and giving it cuteness/beauty, so absurd. Fav gags are probably: The Onett Joke about “Yes/No terday,” in reference to the Beatles song, the No. 3 Moles, and that random Threed guy, whom upon seeing the usefulness of the Zombie Fly Paper, just says, “Wow, if Zombie paper works so well I’d really love some Pretty Girl Paper. On second thought maybe that’s a bit insensitive of me.” Like that last one caught me off guard LOL That being said it’s such a fun and varied game, there’s always something different to like about it almost every time you play it.

Best thing about this game is the easier method for shiny hunting. Just having shiny Pokémon on the over world is the best decision made 😅

BD & SP were leagues ahead of this game! But for the best pokemon experience play Pokemon Crystal Clear version. 1 Choose your town 2 your region 3 your appearance 4 difficulty options…. It just keeps giving. Currently playing it via my Xbox series x on my tv is an amazing experience

I think for me the biggest issue with this game is the marketing of it being a part of the Pokemon Go craze, which severely hinders this game's replayabilty. Which sucks because this is by far one of the more unique looking of the 3D Pokemon games.

i think the branding was more than fine, and the mechanics were fine, because the game works really well as that transitionary game to introduce exclusively lets go players to the main game series. if it had been branded as yellow remake, it would have failed at the task of bridging the gap between lets go and the main series, and instead presented itself more as something meant for the longtime fans of the main game series.

When let's go came out inpicked it up and bounced off of it half way through. I avidly played Pokemon Go, but I'm a core Pokemon hamer first. I wanted the first Pokemon game for switch to be a little more ambitious, so i was kinda let down. Legends Arceus more than made up for that. Looking back at let's go though it actually is a good game I went into with the wrong mindset. I'll go back and play it some day ha. I just finished a Pokemon Yellow playthrough recently though so maybe I'll take my time.

Basically agreed with all your points here. I secretly love Let’s Go but just the addition of Pro Controller support would make it a million times more playable. Visually it’s still the best Pokemon game on Switch. Shiny hunting is REALLY fun in these games. Great review

Yeah right, Capcom supporting physical media like they did with the Legacy Collections half heartedly when they can actually fit them all in a single cart. Capcom is just spouting bu11sh!t at this point.

Pokemon has always been terrible in terms of accessibility and Lets Go games were the worst of it. SWSH were the last game (don’t know if BDSP had it too) where the L button was also the A button, meaning you could play it with one hand. SV removing that option had made it difficult for me to play which I just stopped playing all together

"Vectorman doesnt even have little cameos any more", this implies he ever did in the first place😩 you more than likely dont know this, but there was a cancelled Vectorman game planned for the Saturn, Vectorman Ultra. a good while before that weird cancelled PS2 game that was a thing...anywho, if you want to learn A LOT more about Ultra, go check out Evil Pixel's video on it. it went up about 10 months ago and its still there.

The reason the standard controls are only in handheld is because the game was aimed at Pokemon Go fans. The waggle controls were a major selling point and to Nintendo having standard controls in handheld was a compromise so you don't have to detach your joycons to play on the bus. This is also why it was marketed with the "Let's Go" title instead of as a yellow remake

"It seems very babyish to do that" Absolutely no offense to any players of any age still enjoying new Pokemon games to this day, but Pokemon very much being "Babies first RPG" wore out the appeal to me pretty quickly. I knew of pokemon growing up, tried some of the later (now older) releases with animated sprites as a kid and kinda enjoyed it but never got a huge fixation for it, and the first full game I actually played to the ending was Pokemon X. That game was alright, but then I started Sun and I just did not feel compelled to keep going and dropped it. And with the release of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet it kinda felt like those in charge didn't seem interested in at least keeping it a polished respected series. So I dropped out fully from even engaging with it at that point as a game series whether watching or playing myself. Anyway with all that said, even if I legitimately couldn't get into it and still don't fully see what others see in it more power to anyone who enjoys the series. That specific line just had me thinking and reminiscing on how I viewed the series after my attempted times getting into it.

Terrible marketing! For Let's G0 Pikachu? The original was called Pokémon Yellow Special PIKACHU Edition. Pikachu is in the name.

Chibi Diamond and Pearl had great graphics. And their's nothing wrong with Let's Go E/P.

Maybe test the waters with some kind of a portable device, maybe something similar to the Switch with a strong opening catalog of games - a new Sonic, Yakuza, SOR 5, Football manager etc. SEGA could find themselves in a niche market or they fall flat on their faces. I’d support them anyway

I had more fun with this game than my half attempt with Pokemon Sword.

I really loved the original Yellow back in the day when I was a snotty kid but I’ve never played the Let’s Go Switch remake. Should I play it?

Pokémon should release an update to the Let’s Go games that allows you to play them with traditional mechanics. I would buy it if they did.

First off, I 100% agree with a lot of what was said here. (Though I disagree with using Metroid Zero Mission as an example but that's a discussion for later.) But I want to emphasize this: 7:15 "That was not an iterative feature, it was just taken away!" (or something like that) THAT right there is a meme among the fans regarding Game Freak and Pokemon. It's like they are like "let's go in this direction!" Take 5 steps in that direction with a game then they back up those 5 steps to return back to their starting point before turning like 15 degrees counterclockwise to take 5 steps in that direction for the next game. They've said in the past that it's to give each game/generation its own identity or something to that extent based on various interviews but GOSH DANG it's annoying! It's similar to Nintendo's philosophy with a lot of the games that they develop but Nintendo goes like 10,092 steps into an idea and really develops it but Game Freak honestly just dabbles a best. It's super frustrating after all these years.

I played let's go Pikachu connected to TV with motion controls and enjoyed it that way. I think my pokeball throws would have been less accurate I threw using analog stick

Having two kids these games were great, especially with us using the pokeball plus controllers. They were big into these games. Biggest issue with these games is that I think Pokemon main demographic are mostly adults now and these were as simple as red/blue. Would've loved this when I was a kid.

Don't forget that this is the only main game where you can play the story co-op with a friend. Even if it's not that fleshed out.

If one considers Let's Go a main game, it's the only main game I've never played. The Let's Go games do look great with their style, and the music remixes go hard. Still want a Crystal sequel for the remixes, but I think Legends has superseded Let's Go. Took them the entire console generation to put Pokemon riding and overworld Pokemon to the main games too.

A Pokemon Thumbnail/Topic should do numbers with the algorithm for any up and coming UA-camr.

Sega can by taking all of their ip’s & everything that made their brand and crush in into one. And did everything with patience & a lot of insight and market analysis. Sega Genesis x 1.the controller- need to have the genesis feel.. 3 row (a,b,c )& x button over the b button & two shoulder buttons y&z. & triggers, built in rumble Replicate every high point . 1.alexx kidd in miracle world An action,platformer,rpg *Sonic adventure 3.. no fluff Better versions of every Dreamcast & Saturn game. No funny names just numbered . Kid chameleon 2 ala paper Mario engine Shinobi 5…. Every game has in depth story n well made gameplay Every single ip in proper 3d gameplay engines, with realistic gameplay . Imagine streets of rage 5 with a 2 player god if war/devil may cry engine After burner sim with a feel of arcade like they did with the 2k games . Realism is the name of the game , that’s why they lost in the Saturn era. They wanted arcade shallow short games in disks for expensive money . Sega need to take gameplay engine from the likes Of Billy Hatcher , toe jam and early 3 and stop being corny and lame and trying too hard to be cool and force stereo types . Just make good games with great stories and deep gameplay and features and longevity

I started gaming with the Sega Genesis when I was a toddler back in the mid to late 90's. So I'm willing to get the new Sega console in favor over a PS5 Pro & a 8K supported Xbox Series whatever

It would be a huge request to ask consumers to spend money on their Nintendo console, their PlayStation or XBox, and then buy a third console for the same generation. I would totally buy a new Sega console, but it would need amazing exclusives on top of most of what we expect from modern consoles, such as decent controllers, peripheral support, online play, 4k/60fps, and third party apps. Make a streamlined console, sell it for ~$300 but include amazing games, and then maybe they would stand a chance.

I received EarthBound the Christmas of 1995 and it quickly became my all-time favorite game. But when I was a teenager, my mother convinced me to throw the box away. Ever since then, I've kicked myself for doing that and have been looking for someone selling the box at a decent price.

As much as I like Sega to come back and compete and make a new console. I rather they stay third party and just focus on making games for the big three that was Valve, Nintendo, and Sony. Making consoles was what got them close to bankruptcy and they already prove that they don't get along with each other and still to this day they still don't. By being a dedicated third party developer at least they don't had to take risk every time they r&d a project.

also, for Franchise revivals they don't need a new console, they are already trying to revive a lot of them. A new SEGA Ages collection of revivals was announced at Summer Games Fest & just like with Streets of Rage 4 was promptly dismised just admit it, nobody wants a Sega revival Console, we just miss the 90's

yeah they could, but why would they when the Casino, Hotels, & Arcade side of hardware gives them so much more proffit. Also, unlike business hardware, Home Consoles are always sold at a loss, and with the market gearing towards console agnosticism with the Handheld PC/Emulators, is just not worth it also the Genesis 2 already exists, in face we even got a Gernesis 3

The problem is that Sega, just like back then, has no system sellers. They have ip's that have fanbases, sure. But every successful console has about 5 or so event titles, things that make tens of millions of people willing to pay hundreds of dollars just to play that game. They just have the same 10,000 delusional fanboys who go on retro gaming channels to wax wistful about the 90's and the million(but not tens of millions) of persona fans who are willing to pay $60 for it, but aren't willing to switch platforms over it. And that just leads to what happened last time. And that's why Sega has to remind those 10,000 they are never, under any circumstance, going to put themselves through that ever again. The only third party publishers I can think of that has the pull to potentially pull off being a successful console company is ea, t2, capcom, and mihoyo, and none of them are ever going to do that either.
