I don't know if I believe there'll be a Mega Man game. Same for Castlevania tbh... Capcom and Konami have been dormant for so long on those... If they wanna get something out, I feel like they'd rather wait to ride the hype of the new Console. I feel like DLC and Ports is probably more reasonable to expect.
Ports are an absolutely safe bet if the Switch successor is backwards compatible. Since ports already make the basis of being from older hardware, it's an easy way to still sell them through to the next console's lifespan without making them look particularly inferior.
Since you didn't want to go into it, I'll just do it here in the comments. I believe that the reason Star Fox games keep failing has nothing to do with it being Star Fox. It's because they keep trying to innovate things. Heck, SF Adventures wasn't even supposed to be a Star Fox game. People don't want to run around on the ground or whatever. They just want a basic arcade-like 3D Shmup (not bullet-hell, those are just annoying), where certain things you do in one level can determine which level you go to next, and each level having its own, unique style. We'll take some examples from the best Star Fox game so far, 'Star Fox 64.' Corneria is a simple 3D Shmup level. If you keep Falco alive and fly through some arches, you can follow him to a different boss, then move on to an alternate route. It's awesome. Katina, one of my personal favorites, is basically just playing through the ending of the Independence Day movie. It's awesome. If you fight Star Wolf early on, then again in a later level, they remember that and have different commentary than if you only fought them in the later level. It's awesome. Another one of my favorites is Solar. Flying too close to the "lava" can cause chip damage, and hitting it is just a bad idea, causing you to really pay attention to where you fly around. I don't really remember the boss too well, I just liked the stage itself, because it's awesome. ...plenty more examples...it's awesome. Then there's the multiplayer aspect. I can't remember the unlock details, but you can unlock the tank and just running around on the ground. "But, you said people don't want run around on the ground." True, they don't want a whole game like that, but in multiplayer, it's awesome. If they were to make another Star Fox game like that, but with new levels, it would probably do well. Or at least better than any of the others after SF64. Even SF643D would've done better if it weren't on the 3DS. I don't want to play an action game like that with tiny controls that cramp my hands, and the screen moving around too much as I fire (that one might on me, but it's still something I have to deal with, or just play the N64 version).
I predict an announcement for a major F-Zero 99 update, probably a paid expansion like with Tetris 99. It's been two and a half months since the last update, which was pretty big on its own. It added alternate "Mirror" variants of every single standard track, effectively doubling the pool from 15 to 30, not counting the mystery and Classic tracks. My wish is to have more machines. They could add Blue Thunder, Luna Bomber, Green Amazon and Fire Scorpion from F-Zero GP2, but I'd love to see post-X machines, like White Cat and Black Bull, made in the SNES-style. Oh, and of course I'd love the addition of the Ace League, and the lost Forest and Metal Fort tracks from F-Zero GP2. Speaking of SNES, my ideal new Starfox game would be Starfox 3, with the look and feel of the SNES Starfox games. Nostalgia bias? Yes.
On your Star Fox rant towards the end I watched the 2016 direct for "e3" even though it came out a year before the switch came out (potentially something to look towards as a hint) and I saw Star Fox Zero gameplay and it almost convinced me to buy the game.
I'm hopping that the Call Of Duty Black Ops collection (which would include Black Ops 1, 2, and maybe 3) that was leaked for the Switch back in April will be revealed during it.
Starfox needs complete overhaul redesign. I like how you make your own flight paths into an open area in SF Command, I would suggest hub locations like Monster Hunter where you can interact, choose missions, third person gameplay, expeditions etc and keep the story missions strictly flying missions, just like classic Starfox you can pick the routes you take, speed run the game or unlock new routes and challenges but no forced whiplash between modes. Same complaint I have for some games like Spider-man, keep side missions as optional but rewarding, and it would have to have a lot of creative side content
I can safely say this: I believe that if the Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD ports don't show up in this direct, they're being saved for the Switch 2. Nintendo would NOT just forget about these games and leave them stuck on the Wii U. Graphically, they're stunning but on Switch 2?
I actually think waiting to release on Switch 2 makes more sense. There's multiple 3D Zelda games on Switch (BotW, TotK, Skyward Sword, and technically Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask through Switch Online) and we won't be getting a brand new 3D zelda for at least a few years. It took 7 years to develop Breath of the Wild, so we should assume around that much time for a new one on Switch 2. Given that, having Twilight Princess and Wind Waker remakes/HD versions on Switch Makes a lot of sense as even release titles, otherwise there won't be any 3D Zelda games for Switch 2 until the middle of it's life cycle.
If we get one more Fire Emblem on the Switch, I imagine Intelligent Systems would go with the remake route. Honestly I'd love a HD port of Awakening, But I think an HD remaster of Path of Radiance, Or a Path of Radiance + Radiant Dawn combo port would be an amazing send off on the Switch.
I think Starfox Assault would mostly be exciting just to see Nintendo acknowledged a Starfox game other than 64. And if there's a Starfox game I'd want a sequel to, its that one. But I agree. It doesn't entirely deliver on what it promises. I got it when it came out. Though I loved it, and was so stoked for it. When I'd go to my friends house to play Halo 2, i just knew Assault wasn't THAT calibur of game. .. heck, maybe that makes it the perfect candidate for a remake though! A good concept with a lot of room for improvement!
As they’re preparing for the switch’s end of life, I can see them focusing more on their existing games over making new ones. I think we’ll see a lot of third party titles, a few dlc’s for existing titles (mario wonder?), and for that transition period from the switch to the next I wouldn’t be surprised to see them put out a few new mobile titles
while it's true that engage was a year in polish (that also explains the quick DLC relase), I think we might have to take our time. maybe Warriors 2 given they hold off alot of classic characters in the first, maybe Engage Warriors (even tho three hopes went a bit flat compared to all 3 other Nintendo Warriors in my view). another fanfavorite wish I could see would be Hyrule Warriors: the imprisoning War. basicly AOC for TOTK. and if the FF 9 remake is real, I think they would put it off to switch 2 at this point. what none splatoon people always forget is that we are in the end of splat 3's lifetime as well, and that means one thing. Nobody is talking about Sega? They announced a heap of games at the Game Awards, and I think this Direct will have a huge portion directed at Sega. Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Streets of Rage, Sonic Shadow X Generations, Panzer Dragoon, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Sakura Taisen will all be announced. Other games we will see will be Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, Epic Mickey Rebrushed, Monster Hunter, Hollow Knight Silksong, Plucky Squire and Dredge The Iron Rig. The main games from Nintendo we will get will be Metroid Prime 4 and Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition.
I love Star Fox. I'd love a new Star Fox with internal pilot view that you only use one screen to play though. Maybe the can experiment with a supernatural and genetic enhancement plot wherein Fox is infused with some arcane power and becomes superhuman. He fights in person like in assault but with magic and the game also has lots of space pilot battles where he uses supernatural intuition mechanics to fight in his fighter craft.
I'm going to make a bold and most likely very wrong prediction, but I just thought: What if we got a Remaster for Fire Emblem Path of Radiance first before Fire Emblem 4? I'll probably eat my words very soon, but it was an interesting What If.
I just know there going to announce a lot remakes and ports knowing that this a Nintendo direct but seriously how are people not getting fatigue from remakes because as much as I love indie I really want to see more original games from the AAA game scene.

my man hates EVERYTHING about Starfox Assault.😆 i wish that game wasnt so divisive amongst people, but i get it. if it does get a port, cool. i hope it has severely reworked or VERY remappable controls. but i'd much rather a remake so as to take a chance to make the art style far more in line with the rest of the franchise. i dont hate it but it doesnt work for every character on the cast. like literally half the cast looks fine and the other half look a little too detailed for doofy looking cartoon space animals.
This with what players want isn't a thing anymore.. All game devs (include managers & ceo) are doing only stuff to make inpact to the young generations, i know few people who wish like me another platformer game like the first two Warioland games but we are just dads... Nobody cares about what we want. You know why? As i was kid we had stuff like Super Mario World and later Donkey Kong Country.. Those games are very hard to create them as "battle royal" games! Valve now does stuff to appeal better to Fortnite players, the premise that they will use everything what they made in past and pack it as a new game is just a marketing trick... Expect no connection to Portal, Half-Life, Left4Dead to Deadlock (Neon Prime). Nintendo does pretty the same prioritazing online gaming. Mario will stay Mario but i see a downhill with what they are trying to do.. Peach got her own game like Toad, Yoshi. The only positive case is Luigi's Mansion 2 HD but there is that! I expect not much until the year 2030. 🤷🏽♂️

No you're not getting another fire emblem game this year they literally released engage last year. Nintendo isn't going to release another mainline fire emblem game the year after another one even if it's a remake. Plus Intelligent systems already released the ttyd remake this year, They are not going to release another game from them this year and would make no sense If anything it makes a lot more sense for Nintendo to have the room and remake released right after the launch of the new system next year, They did have a fire emblem game Within the first year of the switch. I really really really wanted to love Star Fox Zero, it had everything a Star Fox game needed.... Except that it FORCED those awful motion controls onto me, with no way to disable them. Starfox Assault I really enjoyed multiplayer on back in the day, but I went back and played that a couple years ago, and it was a LOT rougher than I remember, and not nearly as much fun outside of the Arwing only stages, clunky feeling and underbaked. I do still enjoy Starfox Adventures quite a lot.

The pessimist in me thinks its going to be what feels like 30 minutes of Splatoon along with some shovelware. Some of these ideas would be awesome though
