There’s one settlement which was a completely built by croatian government together with European union for gypsies, and it was perfect brand new houses with kitchen appliances with toilets with heating, with gardens, everything… and in matter of couple of months, they dismantled almost everything. they took out windows, doors made from Aluminium and put the old rusty iron ones, cardboard ones you name it… they took the fences and sold it, they took kitchen appliances, heating radiators and sold it, they even took down the roof tiles and put on some iron tiles made from old vehicles. so whenever I hear some someone making excuses for their behavior like it’s our fault they don’t know any better. They don’t have any opportunities… they do have opportunities, we gave them the opportunity to live like humans and that their children can live like humans, but they drank it and smoke it in a matter of weeks and chose to live like animals.

Athens might have a spot here. Sure it has a great history. However when you get to the suburbs (or certain parts of downtown) it gets underdeveloped. Budapest might also take a spot too. The economy is garbage (seriously, 1000 forints is enough for only a coffee), the people are rude, Hungarian is among the hardest languages to learn, and politics.

Ordinary place for Easten European

I visited a town in northeast of Ukraine, yes it is not a glamorous place like a montecarlo or prosperous as a Switzerland but it is clean and safe - - seen worse place in England and Italy - - another aspect of poverty more important actually is education as in schooling level, civic manners,, safety, low level of petty criminality, , respect of others, and the local environment - - all these issues are found more in Ukraine / russia than in the UK and Italy where poverty means exactly that : destitution at moral, ethic and phisical level
