Wool and Wine - A knitting Podcast
United States
Приєднався 28 чер 2022
Wool and Wine - We are three friends, Tammi, Claudia, and Janet, who love all things knitting and great wine. We started our podcast in June 2022 so we could share our creativity with other knitters and makers. In each episode we discuss what we are wearing, any finished objects we've completed since the last episode, all works in progress, some gorgeous acquisitions (yarn for more knitting!), and there is usually a discussion about dream knitting. We often discuss any issues we've had during the knitting of any of our projects and what was done to resolve them. Occasionally, we discuss sweater surgery, what was wrong and how we made it something we love. At the end of every episode we taste and discuss a great bottle of wine.
Everyone is welcome to join us! We don't discuss anything religious or political and, hopefully, we don't have any discussions that could be considered a trigger for anyone.

Thank you once again for all your inspiration! I'm already waiting for your next video!!! Love your knitting adventures and your discussions about yarn and (upcoming) projects. Best regards from the westcoast of Sweden. 🧶😍
Another fun podcast with so much inspiration! Tammi, I LOVE my garden cardigan - wearing it all the time... I knit it in Holstgarn Coast (held double), which is a wool/cotton blend, as you were thinking of using. (I'm also in Dayton and can attest to it being a great weight for our fall weather.) I also recommend the Musselburgh hat; 3rd one is in process possibly for me as the first two were appropriated by son and husband... Now I really want to knit the Viridian and the Home cardigans!
Thank you for another fab video, love you ladies you are all so clever with your beautiful knits and the colour work is amazing ❤❤❤
Love your Wine Tasting Fun! Gorgeous Knits to boot!! Have you heard of the button trick? Color Work for keeping your strings from tangling. I have a sock knitting case with eyelets but just finished untangling almost two full skeins threaded in from center pull on one side with two colors and out side pull on the other side. Wow!!! I will try being smarter then that next time. Cozies for four separate muffins weighted for the amount of grams needed for my sock project. The Mermaid, socks from, "Three by the Sea". LOL I love the button idea too, so why not all fun at & in learning. Now back to the Sea Glass Make A Long that started, Oct., 1st. Mark Vogel is spearing that as his first. So many grand make a longs and Mystery Fun Makes Crochet and Knit. The gal who drinks wine too in New Brunswick who is so adorable and designs socks is a big help!!
I have a question for you lovely ladies…I have some gorgeous, purple, fingering weight, cotton yarn and I want to make a pretty summer tee out of it but I’m struggling to find a suitable pattern. Would you know of a pattern that might work? I was thinking of a little lacework perhaps 😊
Count me in as a “like”. Beautiful knits and fun conversation. Thank you!
Thanks again for another great episode. And those FO’s…Wow, want to make everyone of them. The house cardigan really looks so cozy and all your Lethos are stunning. 🤩
Beautiful knits as always and a fun catch up! Wishing you all a happy thanksgiving 🦃🦃🦃
Thank you! You too!
Claudia, your Letho is gorgeous. Love the colors. Oh, Janet, your Letho is beautiful too. 😊 I love, love, love Tammy’s Viridian. 😊
Thank you so much!
Great video! I'm working on Musselburo hats for my sister and her adult kids. I have one finished, had to rip another one out (miscounted or something so it was huge). Got it back to about 16" with another one about 12". Need to make 6 total. Don't think they'll get them for Christmas but they live in MT so have lots of winter months. Love all your colorwork ladies!
Kat, Thanks for your compliments and it sounds like you’re doing some gift knitting and that’s great. 😃 You’re not alone with making mistakes when knitting, as we do too! 🧶🍷
Lovely as ever dear girls x
Glenda, Thanks for your dear compliments. 🤗🧶🍷
I knit the Larson pullover by Joan Forgione a couple of years ago. It was the only thing I've knit so far in my 8 years of knitting that made me enjoy the process. I'm 100% a product knitter so I don't normally get a lot of enjoyment out of knitting. I just want the thing and am willing to do what's necessary to get it, lol.
I did enjoy Joan’s pattern so will probably make more of them. We like how you do your product knitting and do what is necessary to get it done 😆 Thanks for watching. 🧶🍷
Love how your Letho turned out Claudia! So many beautiful knits! I’m going to be working on the Garden Cardigan next and can’t wait to see yours Tammy! Thanks for another wonderful podcast!
Denise, That’s great that the garden cardigan is also in your queue and thanks for your nice comments! 🤗🧶🍷
Hallo Ladies wow so many beautiful sweaters and cardigan 🥰I just love to watch your podcast. You make me smile and feel happy. Thanks a lot 🙏 Usually I watch your podcast in the morning where I don’t drink but today I finally got a chance to sit down and sip a bit of wine 😚
Helle, I’m so glad you’re enjoying our podcast and got to sip on some wine while watching! 🤗🧶🍷
Thank you so much for showing all those wonderful knits❤ Yours is my absolute favourite podcast!
Claudia, It’s so nice to hear that you really enjoy our podcast and is a favorite. Thank you so much! 🤗🧶🍷
I’m just loving all your beautiful knits! Thanks for sharing ❤❤❤
Janis, Thank you for your nice compliments! 🧶🍷
Claudia, Fabulous job on your Letho and it looks great on you!
Thank you so much! I love it!
Great podcast as always 👍 A great pattern instead of fingerless mittens is the Tinsel Mittens by Andrea Mowry. They are both a mitten and a fingerless glove combined 🧶
Alex, always nice to have a mitten and a fingerless option added. Thanks for your recommendation! 🧶🍷
Tammy do you know who’s getting which friend wrap.or will they pick which one they want? Or wrap them all and have them pick one. After they open them they could trade. Or did you pick colors they each like when you made them. I made afghans for our girls and they all loved the one they got. All of the knitting you girls did or are doing are beautiful! You’re all so talented. I’m in a knitting slump right now but I’m making crochet afghans-some for charity and some for myself. And I’m doing a lot of sewing as well.but I’m having fun!
Deb, Glad you’re having fun. Tammi is going to give each one the color that she thinks they will like and then they can trade if they’d like to. Thanks for your compliments. 🧶🍷
Hey ladies. I’m in central Washington wine country. I was told the first time I tried carmenere that it was popular in the 60’s or 70’s and thought to have gone extinct when they found some in South America growing (wild?) 20 ish years ago and cultivated them back to producing gorgeous wine. Mine had a mere hint of jalapeño on the back end. Just lovely. The Aztec looking jackets are killing me! I almost need one lol
That’s interesting with the carmenere grapes becoming extinct. I’m glad they are back and producing wine now. Thanks for your nice comments. 🧶🍷
Always look forward to a new episode! All of your knits are absolutely beautiful! Your Lethos are all stunning! I believe the Kitchener stitch is named after a senior commander in the British army or something like that. It’s amazing that I believe men knit before woman! It’s pretty cool. My husbands uncle knit and when I first started to knit way back when he used to slap me in the arm ( lovingly) every time I dropped my needle! So I guess he was responsible for getting me to hold my needles the correct way! My that was a long time ago as I was in my twenties and I’m almost 63 now! Can’t wait to see those wips come to life! I’m desperately trying to clean up wips! Tammy it’s so sweet you are making the friend to friend for all of your daughters. How many are there? That is a lovely pattern! I think you should come to a yarn festival in Canada 🇨🇦 lol!
Susan, It is amazing men knit before women! Tammi is making 5 of the friend to Friend shrugs. Thank you for your nice and informative comments. 😊🧶🍷
Hi Ladies, I'm the one that did the Seed Stitch. And yes I did it for my Bottom Hem and the Button Band. I'm not quite finished yet because I played Yarn Chicken and lost. 😢. I am having problems getting more yarn so I am stuck until I can find more. I only have about 1" left of the Button Band to go and then the I-Cord bind off. Fingers crossed I will find some soon so I can finish it.
We loved your seed stitch and hope you can find more yarn to finish it! Our fingers are crossed 🤞🧶🍷
The Musselburgh hat is a marvelous hat. I RARELY knit a pattern more than once, but I'm about to start my 6th Musselburgh. It's easy, yarn scrap friendly, and a good use for using up single skeins of fingering weight yarn. I highly recommend the Musselburgh, and it would make a great gift. BTW, I found Ysolda's cast on too fiddly, so I use the Magic Loop cast on. YMMV. 🙂 P.S. - Ysolda also has great support and info videos for the Musselburgh on UA-cam.
Thank you for your recommendation on the musselburgh hat. I’m sure one of will make it! 🧶🍷
Love all your knits, love the Caitlin Hunter and the cols, and the Cumulus blouse Claudia, maybe the i-cord around the neck could be made longer and tied in a bow, I saw a new Rowan pattern and it seems the tie bow is back. Love the show xxx
Thank you for your nice comments. An I-cord as a bow is a good idea. 🧶🍷
Always so happy to see a new episode from you inspiring ladies! Thank you!❤
Ann, Thank you for your nice comments! 🤗🧶🍷
Thanks Ladies another great episode. I believe the name for Kitchener stitch comes from Lord Horatio Herbert Kitchener (1850-1916), a senior commander in the British military in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Kitchener was a strong advocate for the Red Cross and the homefront initiatives, including knitting, and he was concerned that having a seam at the toe of a sock could contribute to or worsen soldiers’ foot issues.
Monique, Thanks for filling us in on where Kitchener comes from. It is amazing men were knitters long ago. 🧶🍷
Claudia your Letho is gorgeous! Love the colors.
Thank you so much! I love wearing it.
I love all the knits but especially Claudia's cardigan with the scarf. They go together so well. Gorgeous!
Thank you so much. I appreciate your kind words!
I laugh every time you 3 do the opening toast…. I don’t believe you gals have ever reported a bad wine! Cheers!
Tammy, We do all seem to have the same taste in wine, so we pick some tasty ones. Cheers! 🧶🍷
Always look forward to you guys.
Linda, Thank you and so glad you enjoy our podcast. 🧶🍷
Ladies, I Absolutely Love You. 🫶
Aaahh thank you! We love you too Starfire!😘🤗
Hello ladies, great podcast. I had to find out what fish leather was: leather made from fish skin🐟
Thanks for the information and your nice compliments! 🧶🍷
Another inspiring podcast! Great colours in your Letho, Tammi and how do you manage to match your pant colours to sweaters, amazing! All of the Letho sweaters are gorgeous and can’t wait to see the 3 of you wearing them together. Janet, your Cumulus Blouse is so pretty and a great colour on you! Cumulus sweater yarns, Claudia, are lovely together and your Sunshine Coast looks great with your cute earrings! Enjoyed hearing Rhinebeck trip recap! Hope at some point you talk on your podcast about how and where you store your sweaters. As a sweater knitter, I am always looking for information on this topic.
Thank you for all your nice compliments! We all have under the bed storage bins where we store our knits. We also have drawers and even hang some. We are accumulating quite a few sweaters! 🧶🍷
Hello from Ft Wayne Indiana! Love your podcast and seeing your knitting projects. You ladies make such beautiful things. I drive down that way a few times a year as my daughter lives in Mason. I was wondering if you could tell me what yarn shops you recommend. I have Simply Socks here in Ft Wayne which is fantastic but I still like to go to other good shops. I did see Lambikins and thought of going there the next time I'm down that way. Anything you can tell me would be appreciated. Looking forward to more of your podcasts!
Thanks for watching! There is one in Springboro called Wooley Bully. I believe there is one in Englewood, which is north. Check Google in Cincinnati. I'm sure there are some there. Thanks again for watching!
I just found your knitting podcast….and I’m thrilled to find you all. Then to top it off….you’re golfers. I play golf with our local LGA in Atl., but no one knits! How lucky you all are! I’m starting with your first episode.
Welcome aboard! I'm glad you found us! Wow, going back that far! I hope you enjoy them.
Claudia, I love your Sunshine Coast. I made one in Bamboo Pop that is so light and drapey! Thank you for sharing your fun at Rhinebeck. Living in CA, I don't know if I will ever get there! That Destination yarn is gorgeous! And, I can relate to all of your frustration at ripping and reknitting!! But, Tammi, your kitchner skills are impressive! Great podcast!
Oh thank you!
Great podcast! Love all your knits and knowledge that you share.
Thank you so much!
So nice to catch up with you at Rhinebeck this year again! And, yes, to a visit for sure. I didn’t realize we were so close! We will have to find a halfway spot 😊 You also have me now thinking about the Lento. I’ve always wanted to make that cardigan and I happen to have 12 of those Donegal skeins from my trip to Ireland…it would be perfect! Have a great day friends. 💜
Sounds great to find a halfway spot to meet up again sometime. The donegal yarn is perfect for the Letho sweater! 😀🧶🍷
For that flip while knitting the Friend to Friend Poncho that Tammy talked about when changing from rib to stockinette or stockinette to rib, see Patty Lyons column online at MDK, entitled “What the Flip” dated Dec 2, 2020.
Karen, Thanks for the helpful tip! 🧶🍷
It was so lovely to meet you ladies in person at RB! You all are just as friendly and kind in person as you come across on screen. My husband was wandering by while I was watching and the picture we took together came on screen. Then I hear “Babe, you got to meet them; you’re UA-cam famous” 😂
Hi Heather! Meeting our viewers is definitely the best part of Rhinebeck for us. We were able to take photos with most people we met but definitely missed a few. Your husband’s comment sounds a lot like something Rick would say 🤣🤣🤣
So great to see you ladies, as always. Hey - Arne & Carlos have another Christmas Stocking knit along - this time throughout November, so that it can be done in time to decorate for the holidays. But first I had to get out the beautiful Christmas Project Bag I won on your podcast last year - and then I cast it on! Woo hoo! My first Christmas Project Bag ever, (it is gorgeous❤) and in it, my first Christmas project of the year!🎉
It’s great to know you are enjoying it! It’s just about time to sew some more. We will have to check out their knit along….. Hugs!
Yes it certainly does take a village! Knitting friends are amazing! While you were at Rhinebeck I was in Sarnia at my sister’s, Dawn of Co-Dependent knitters. You will have to do a fair weather trip there to be able to knit under the bridge! Thanks for another all inspiring episode!!
Maryann, It sounds like you were on a nice trip also! Thanks for your nice comments! 🧶🍷
Watching you in Southern California. On my way to Paso Robles tomorrow! Great podcast!
I hope you get to drink some delicious wine!
Loved seeing your beautiful sweaters! Seeing upcoming plans and your Rhinebeck recap and haul! ❤
Tammy, We’re so glad you enjoyed our knitting fun! Thanks for your nice compliments! 😃🧶🍷
I always love watching your podcasts, your such great friends and compliment, support and care for each other, that is so wonderful. Can’t wait to see all your future makes and knitting journeys ❤️💕
Thank you so much!! We do love that we can be there for each other with our knitting issues and questions. We also love all of our friends who watch us and are supportive of us too. 🥰🧶🍷
Thank you for another great episode. I love the Pom Pom magazine sweaters you have been knitting, they have been on my list for a bit!
Thank you for your nice comments. The Pom Pom magazines do have some nice patterns in them. 🧶🍷
Beautiful yarn, gorgeous projects and delightful photos of Rhinebeck. Another home run, ladies! 👍🏻☺️
Thank you for your nice comments! 😃🧶🍷
That is lots of great knitting and yarn ladies!! Ironically, I live in Cape May and have never heard of the Cape May fiber company. So strange but I love those color ways . I can’t wait to see all of your finished cardigans.
Thanks Cheryl! I wonder if Cape May Fiber Co. is just an online order business. It sounds like a beautiful place to live. 🧶🍷
Oooooooo ladies, what lovely acquisitions 😍. Can’t wait to see what you make. Thanks for sharing ,as always ,thoroughly enjoyed it.❤🧶
Lorraine, Glad you enjoyed our episode and thanks for watching. We are looking forward to knitting our acquisitions! 🧶🍷
Love you ladies! Always tune in, but lately, I've become frustrated with the amount of ads during your episodes. Do you have any control, or is there a setting you might be forgetting to use? I am asking because I really don't know, and maybe it can help. With all respect and knitterly ❤️
Thank you for your input. Some ads can be removed but we don’t have control of the content. On this episode for the first 24 hours no ads got removed so there were many. We did get to them and remove a bunch after the fact.
