There is always some side effect risk to medication even if it's a perfectly useful way to a address a problem you are facing. One thing thing that I see quite a bit is people having repeated gout flares who are also potentially missing an opportunity to improve their situation by addressing some of the side effects that come with their blood pressure medication.     It can be quite normal/ enjoyable if you switch all your high calorie favorites w/ tasty healthy replacements. Konjac noodles for rice, peanut butter for icecream, apple cider vinegar for apple cider, cashew milk for soy milk etc. Most of them are so low calorie yet filling that you unintentionally stay below the 1000 mark. It would be quite intolerable if you're still trying to fit your old lifestyle into your new caloric parameters.

    I’m experimenting with 1000 calories a day right now. I’m eating 8 ounces of meat a day plus 3 scoops of unflavored whey protein which is 25 grams of protein each, one egg, plus a tsp of grass fed butter and three shrimp for added flavor. I eat this as one meal a day in the morning first thing. Then I go to the gym and do a 2 hour full body workout. My job is a second shift job so this works perfectly. Since I eat all the food for the day pre workout I feel totally fine in the gym. The food is calorically dense so I’m not stuffed or anything. Been doing this for weeks now. Oh and I take 5 grams of creatine a day and a scoop of unflavored magnesium powder but these don’t add any calories. The whey protein comes right after the solid food. If I drink the whey while eating the solid food or before it makes it harder to eat for some reason. I’m at 191lbs now and started at about 203lbs. By the time I’m in bed I have mild food cravings, very mild. When I wake up I don’t even feel hungry for some reason. My sleep is good. My goal is 170lbs or so. If it starts to feel unsustainable I’ll add beef liver which should help with missing micro nutrients. I’ve tried one meal a day and not counting calories or tracking protein in the past and it was totally unsustainable. The higher protein makes a huge difference. Also in the past I had too many carbs with my meals and the blood sugar spikes and dumps made me super hungry. When I lay in bed at night now I can feel my stomach and love handles caving in, active fat loss I assume. My protein is .8 grams per pound of weight and the science says anything above this is a waste for building muscle so I’m hoping muscle loss is practically zero with all the body building style of weight lifting. Yep this is working out very well so far ❤ oh also I’ve totally quit caffeine recently. This messes with hunger too. I don’t think there is anyway I could do this while drinking coffee, no way.

    If you put your info into a BMR calculator, but put your goal weight instead of the weight you are now - eat that amount of calories, the amount that your body would burn just to live at your goal weight. Once you reach goal weight, go back to the BMR calculator again, and look to the side and you'll see an activity level factor, that is a calculation involving your BMR and your activity level - select your activity level and eat the number of calories given there and you will maintain. In both cases once you have the number of calories to eat - plan your diet - fruits and vegetables will fill you up and provide a lot of vitamins and minerals for little calories so get most of your caloric allowance from there. Low fat un-processed or only lightly processed foods also have lower calories. Enter your food choices and quantities into chronometer, and fiddle with the choices and amounts until your RDIs for vitamin, minerals, protein/essential ammino acids, and essential fatty acids are all met - if you cant find a combination to do this within your calorie limit try adding a multi-vitamin or supplement. Then just eat that, stick to your plan. Its easiest if you make a 1 week plan and then repeat it every week, so you only have to measure portions and don't have to decide what to eat and go through the calculations again after you've done it once. This is all the easy part, now you just need to use discipline until it becomes your habit - that's the hard part where people quit. Don't quit, be consistent and have patience as it takes time. Days will continue to go by nothing stops time, and that's how you reach your goal.

      @@pambrown5401 Yes, I am afraid. However, I have a slender build/ballet type body. I ran cross country in high school... 16:48 3 mile was my PR. It's weird that the BMI calculators put me at that weight, though. But, as I'm dropping weight, my tinnitus has almost disappeared, and I feel light and healthy. Thanks for your concern.

      @@basicprogrammer6147 Yes, you definitely have to factor in several variables when considering a good height to weight ratio, particularly if your genetics are geared toward a body type more toward the ends of the spectrum (you, for example, are tall and thin with a narrower frame, so 155 may be totally appropriate for you, whereas I'm 5' 9" tall, but at 192 pounds, my dexa shows 9% body fat). If you're feeling healthier and objective measurements of your health are improving, seems like you're doing it right!

    I’m currently doing this. A few days in. I’m not counting to a thousand. The past few days I’ve only had 300-500 calories a day. Today I had 1000. My plan is to only eat one meal per day which is dinner. My job is kind of perfect for it. I wake up in the morning get ready, skip breakfast, travel to work on the train which takes an hour. My job is part time so 2-6. It involves a lot of walking, so I’m not very sedentary at work. I don’t have a lunch break at work which is great for this. If I’m not doing extra hours, which I often do, I get home at around 7-7:30. So when I finally do have dinner it’s not too long before I go to bed. So there’s not a lot of time to be indulge in extra calories, which I’ve avoided doing. I know that only 300-500 calories a day is not healthy but I kind of want to see what will happen

    Thank you for this information. I was 220 when I went to the Dr. last. I am on a strict 1000 calorie a day diet. I eat 1 cup of plain oatmeal with berries for breakfast. I usually eat plain fish or tuna on a plain piece of wheat toast for lunch. For dinner I will eat a salad that I prepare with lettuce, tomatoes, strawberries, cucumbers, blueberries, and one measured teaspoon of Italian dressing. I will report back in a month.

      Yeah bro how it's going going i am also eating 800 calories for past 1 month Breakfast 1 chapati with 1 egg (200 calories) Lunch I usually don't eat lunch Afternoon biscuits or cookies or tea(200) Dinner 2 chapati or plain rice one plate with any gravy food cooked (400) No workout just 10 to 15 min walk and lost around 8kg/17.6lbs weight in month And yeah I keep one cheat day a week so I could sustain the diet for long term Age 17 height 6'0 weight 108kg/238lbs

    I don't think it is just the vaccinated having issues like that has been described and dint get vaccinated but cannot get diagnosed with long covid bc I was sick prior to public testing and have had issues in several ares the have continued to worsen over time multiple symptoms without diagnosis as to why they alleviate with antihistamines as well as meds for stomach issues I'm concerned about micro clots that are reaching my brain

    I’m glad I watched this. So many times I try to explain to my patients that antibiotics will not work for certain cases. This at times feels like an uphill battle. One thing I will do to appease them is prescribe an anabiotic, but advise them not to fill it until they meet criteria, which we discuss during the visit. I get good results. Many have said they didnt end up filling it.🤷🏻‍♂️

    So I usually quit cold turkey - because I spend months with family and they do not know I smoke and I just returned from a trip yesterday - my husband got patches for himself at the doctor and I smoke as much if not more than him so he gave me one tonight. I also smoke weed and I just smoked that. Hopefully I’m good

    Will my strength go lower if I do only eating 300 kcal in per day and 120-160 Protein with Workout. bc if yes then I will never eat 300 kcal a day again because I don’t want to be weak but I wanna have the six pack.

      1g of protein is 4 calories, so it's impossible to eat 120--160g of protein and stick to 300 calories or less. If you only ate pure protein and got absolutely no calories from anything other than protein (a rare to impossible feat), the max protein you could eat in a day and achieve exactly 300 calories is 75g. If you want to avoid muscle loss while on a calorie deficit, shoot for .8 to 1.2g of protein per pound of your ideal body weight (e.g. shoot for 180g of protein daily if your ideal weight you're trying to achieve is 180 pounds). Depending upon metabolism and how much energy you're expending via cardio, lifting, sports, etc., you could still lose some muscle depending upon the degree of your calorie deficit, but that rate of protein intake can really help to minimize muscle loss.

    This is shockingly bad advice for individuals struggling to lose weight. Calories in/Calories out as an understanding of human physiology died a decade ago! See Gary Taubes and the entire keto/carnivore community. You're shocking your body into lowering the metabolism which exacerbates the problem of fat gain. The very fact that muscle mass was lost during this diet is evidence enough to bin it. If you ate high fat/protein and low carb the fat would fall off, muscle mass increase. This is so basic I'm genuinely stunned any doctor isn't aware of it.

      If you look at the scientific studies, all diets work if calories are equal. It comes down to what you can stick with. In the end, it’s all about the calories.

    I had a doctor refuse me antibiotics with an outer ear infection after the initial shot with a Multi drug resistant PA that showed signs of an inner ear infection too. It spread to my mastoid bone. So good luck everyone.

    Hi doc, I wanted to ask you. I’m a 5”10 guy at about 83kgs I want to lose weight fast I saw you did a 1000 calorie deficit I really like this idea but dont really know how to do it safely or healthily. How would you recommend me to carry this out.

    For the last 30 days I've been doing about 100-1200 calories and working out lightly most days with a 12:12 window but only lost 10 pounds. I'm so disappointed in that loss, and more upset that I seem to be stuck at the ten pound mark. Not even a whole stone :( It's rubbish. So 800-1000 calories with increased workouts and a 16:8 window for as long as it takes. Hell, if my PC told me to do a month of water fasting with vitamins, I would at this point. I'm trying so hard to lower my BMI and reverse prediabetes and HTN, and I know it can be done if I work hard enough. I'm only 4'11, so I unfortunately have a very long way to go to get to the desired 100 pounds I should be for my height.

    I been on this diet for three months. Have lost 54lbs so far. I started at 380lbs now im 326lbs. The trick to this diet is, You have to eat 3 meals a day or its hard to stay on. Im use to it now and going to stay on it for 3 more months. My energy has went throught the roof!! Im no longer taking diabetic meds or colesteral meds. Had talk with my doctor about this before i started. He said if I had the bypass surgery it be pretty hard to have a 1000 calories a day, and they do that surgery everyday. He said focus on protien and fiber and you will loose alot of weight. Yes!! your going to loose muscle weight also, But that can be repaired after the weight comes off my doctors words. Folks for those of you that was really over weight like i was, DO THIS before you try the bypass surgery its not as hard as you think!!!!

    Did you do any sort of changes in dieting, other than calorie deficit? like eliminating carbs or food with high glycemic index?
