I like to fast all day and then eat my 1k cals in one meal plus some late snacking. If I spread the 1k throughout the day I get tired and hungry and feel like I'm depriving myself, but the fasting keeps my energy up all day before I break it with a large satisfying meal.
Hi doc, I wanted to ask you. I’m a 5”10 guy at about 83kgs I want to lose weight fast I saw you did a 1000 calorie deficit I really like this idea but dont really know how to do it safely or healthily. How would you recommend me to carry this out.
Certainly don’t have the energy I did when I was eating enough to be gaining weight but there is a cost to these types of diets. I think we might be able to illustrate another potential cost when I do another body composition test for the end of 30 days. The leaning on protein and resistance work is meant to reduce amount of muscle loss
@@DrScottBland sounds great! Let's see the final results of this diet and wait for the next one. Different diets have pros and cons, with more calories maybe you have more energy and fat as well. I'm planning in experimenting with low carb (100+ grams) and good protein (the proportional to my weight, 1.7 grams per kilo)
Thank for the update! I guess the next lost weight will be between 1 and 2 pounds, perhaps 1.5lbs, this is maybe the result that the body got used to this new diet and it would be necessary to go under 1000 calories to lose more weight like in the first week, but that would be very dangerous
That’s a very specific health question to go over with your physician. Being on some meds can make this dangerous without proper adjustment and the obesity medicine association has recommendations to focus on protein intake and resistance training to reduce how much of the weight loss is muscle mass. But for the right person in the right situation with the right physician supervision, this can often be done until goal weight is achieved
Its sad to see a dr. Who specializes in obesity do a diet like this. You'll just gain the weight back when you stop this drastic cut. Even if you continued the diet you'd eventually plateau at that calorie amount and either have to reduce further or up your exercise to continue weight loss. I can understand a drastic cut like this for someone who is preparing for weightloss surgery or is knocking at death's door if they dont lose weight fast. But you arent either of those things. The metabolic damage youre doing will just make it harder to lose weight going forward. You should of just used your TDEE and cut by 300-500 cal and focused on making better nutrition choices. Maybe even seeing a dietician to help you meal plan. I hope you reconsider giving your patients an unsustainable diet like this.
“Just gain the weight back” really only happens if someone begins eating a caloric surplus when they stop the restriction. It’s a common misconception because often people simply return their old habits (which was usually a surplus). When coming off a strict deficit in order to maintain the new weight people have to find caloric balance. It can be hard
20 internet points to whoever makes the closest guess on my 30 day total weight loss! Total in first 3 weeks is 12.5lbs
15.5lbs
16lbs
15lbs
14.5lbs

A lot of people really like the intermittent fasting approach
I'm currently on day 63 of a 1k calorie a day diet.
Age 32 ----- Start weight 411 @ 6'5 ----------- current weight 345, so just a hair over a lb a day
You're so massive in height good for you 😢 I'm only 5'7
How did you go now that 10 months has passed?
it’s been 7 months since the last update where are you man?
This is really informative. Following your journey. I think the loss will continue.
I’m glad it’s useful information, sometimes I wonder what the right amount of detail is

Calisthenics and weight lifting?
That's great, due to the amount of calories I thought it wasn't possible to achieve that

What can I eat a day? For breakfast, lunch and dinner?
I'm doing boiled eggs. 1000 cals is 14 boiled eggs.
Damn it really has been 3 weeks now I have followed since day 1
as I just turned down candy at a movie theatre today, I promise you it has been 3 weeks. Trying hard to stay the course

How long is it acceptable to stay on a 1000 calorie diet?
