Basically, many of the plot holes described here bring up a script issue that i believe affects not only Rory, but Lorelai to an extent as well: The show sells them both as random, crazy and overall two women that are totally out of the ordinary for their gender and age - and then also shows them having every single possible stereotyped trace that both a woman and a girl on that time would have, according to popular opinion. I always found very uncoherent to try and show Rory as a person who's totally extraordinary for her age in every single area and then show her having exactly all the expected actions and reactions for an ordinary girls of her age. How can she be ordinary and extraordinary at the same time? The same goes on for Lorelai. She's crazy and random during most of the show (which is why Rory is that way as well) and then they try to picture her also as 'the voice of reason', showing her making condescending comments showing the obviety of things that are not necessarily obvious. The show has a serious script issue in which they tried to make both Rory and Lorelai into the 'extraordinary ordinary' characters, the characters that at the same time were deep and full of content while also being shallow enough that they could be just used as a 'placeholder' for any viewer who would like to identify with the main character living that story. That's the root of most issues that both characters have - that and also the fact that their moments of arrogance and/or other similar slips that make them look like they believe the world revoles around them is because it... kinda does? And they act like they know it.

They also move Rory in with Logan, or at least logan says hes going to send thwm over when paris kicks her out

Out of the 3 I think the one that really loved Rory and ultimately wanted the best for her, and steered her back when she went astray is Jess. Yes, he was an asshat when they dated and for some time after that. But later on, he changed. And while Logan was fun and exciting, ultimately, he didn't love her enough to steer her back to Yale. Not the way Jess did. And let's not even talk about the toxic codependency of the Year in the Life between her and Logan. Ultimately I think Jess is the one who truly and unselfishly loves Rory.

I disliked Dean, I tolerated Logan and I liked Jess, but most importantly I couldn't stand Rory so I just really didn't care who she dated. Rory is not a bad person by any means, but she was raised by a mother who never told her "no" and an entire town who worshipped her, she was never called out for anything and she had a genuine hard time accepting the fact that she could sometimes be considered unlikable or wrong. Every time someone confronted her about something she'd immediately shift into "how dare you not support everything I do or say" mode and that was what I hated about her.

I think Logan was Rory's best boyfriend because he made her better

I think a strong part of the reason that Dave is so loved is because Lane is so loved. She’s supportive, encouraging, caring, funny and longs for a life that seems out of reach. She often spoke about experiencing relationships vicariously through Rory, wanting her own relationship, and with all that, as a fan you just want her to have something like that of her own. Then along comes Dave who loves the things she loves, respects her, respects his friends (silly though they may be), respects her mother and is willing to understand (not just put up with) the more restrictive aspects of her life. We almost found the perfect guy for her in Henry Cho, but her restrictions and complicated workarounds. But Dave met her where she was and helped her expand the bubble she was in. He abided by her ruses and even made some of his own! He put in effort for her, and after her experience with Henry, Lane put her foot down for him, he was part of her change.

Marty is Rory's 'fluffer'. Referred to in the show New girl. A guy who provides all the benefits of having a boyfriend, is there for you, helps you physically and emotionally, but you don't sleep together. We see this pattern with Rory ALOT. Using guys until the next best thing comes along.

Man that parallel between Willow's treatment of Oz in Buffy and Rory's treatment of Dean is so spot on. The show is essentially a cautionary tale in entitlement. Rory feels entitled to be the centre of everything and everyone. We see in the revival where this has gotten her and that she was not well prepared for a world that wouldn't always view her as special.

To me the townhouse thing always felt like something Lindsay suggested because Dean was unhappy living with her parents. Lindsays parents are overly involved in her life and Dean moves in with them as Lindsays husband and he feels uncomfortable around them - probably because they act like parents/adults and it makes his whole marriage seem stupid. So because he’s unhappy the person he probably complains about them too is Lindsay, likely wanting her to tell them to back off but Lindsay doesn’t do conflict and so instead suggested moving out. Dean runs with the idea and to him it’s Lindsays idea, to her it’s more like - Dean was unhappy so this is what will fix it without upsetting her parents. Her mum probably helps deliver the food because Lindsay doesn’t have a car. Especially in your recap poor Lindsay comes off as so conflict averse it makes me feel that she said yes when Dean proposed not just because she liked him but because it’s total out of her wheelhouse to say no to someone who proposes.

(Sorry if I made some mistakes, english is not my first language) Personally, I never liked Dean, and I think he and Rory were too different to be together. When I watched the series, the seasons with Jess felt like a teenage dream; there was incredible chemistry between the two actors, and that's probably why I was so moved watching them. Logically, though, I think Jess was too mature and had too many problems in life for Rory. I don't think Jess treated her well, but Rory never made an effort to understand his point of view. Logan, however, is and has always been my favorite. I found him charming, he knew how to flirt, and there was balance between them because they came from two similar worlds and could understand each other better. Dean was completely opposite to her, I’d say too much so. With Jess, the timing was wrong : it was the wrong period in both their lives because when they were together, they needed different things. Logan, from my point of view, was perfect for Rory (Logan is just my type, so maybe I can't think clearly about this, haha), but Rory has commitment issues that she needs to resolve before having serious relationships.

Everytime you say there's nothing wrong of Rory to ask something from her new love interest, I just roll my eyes so hard. Guess we are promoting being high maintenance and difficult.

You should have mentioned when Rory sees Lindsay at the butcher shop and Rory realizes that Dean lied about how Lindsay wasn’t into the marriage. That’s why Rory went to Europe.

But what I don’t think you understand is that the reason we only see Rory asking things of dean is because Rory is the protagonist they wouldn’t show deans problems in full bc it’s kinda irrelevant

I also didn’t like how he gave Lorelai a loan for her birthday and didn’t tell Emily about it and then gets mad at Lorelai for bringing up to Emily ? He has some good moments but it’s just things like this that make him just slimy and annoying.

I loved Dave but personally in my head long distance was to much and they broke up and Lane was getting over him for awhile then started to like Zach and I never really hated Zach

I personally always thought Finn had alcohol problems. I genuinely think he forgot meeting Rory every time because he'd had *that* much alcohol and blacking out/severe memory issues is a key indicator of being an alcoholic. Plus, almost every time he met Rory before that point he was holding a drink or drunk.
