Yes painting the caravan might be putting lipstick on a pig BUT Cori is with that pig day in and day out and a fresh coat of paint always lifts one’s spirits 🥰 Especially since you won’t be in the cottage shortly. I use a creamy white for walls. It is cheerful and then I use art to brighten and stimulate cheer even more. I agree with your painting over dull walls. I also love ponies and had several. I miss them terribly now. When I was installing solar, the company installed them closer to my house than I wanted because they said much power would be lost on its way from array to house.

You need to invest in a couple of quad bikes and small trailers. It will help will transporting things around the farm. Oh and if you still have the concrete rubble hire a concrete crusher and use it to make some better trails on the farm

If you don't prep the wood with a light sanding, the paint tends not to stick and will likely peel. Hopefully it will last long enough for you to move into the house. Best of luck!

If you are talking in terms of months for living in it then it probably is a waste of time, money and effort. You should be all out on the house. Get your main accommodation sorted. The rest will follow

Problem is if you really wanted to get this house sorted, you wouldn't have cash cow ponies horses, they cost a flipping fortune and getting animals is hard work, you really need to work in the house, no matter what. No ifs no butt's, get your family in that house. Painting and wasting time and effort is not good. I've worked on many old properties, so know few things on this and had weeks of no running hot water, lucky was in summer. But it's rough life and I get it. You are trying to make things happen.

I can relate to the 'standing and pondering'. Woke up to a flooded bathroom after finding out that the torrential rain likes to permiate through my 200 year old stone wall.

I get why you would jus up the caravan, but it is like "polishing a turd" is the saying, but I do think for mental health your surroundings internally and externally need to be pleasing. If it's a consolation I think you're doing amazing and you haven't gone grey or bald yet with the stress! Keep moving forward it will all come good ❤

I wouldn’t find a place closer to the house to help with wind speeds, and near a door or under the greenhouse area. Hay around every side of van it really does mak a big difference to the heating.😊

Honestly, just want to be commenter of the week 😅.

I'm in Florida - we're having our cold spell, it' been down in the 30's at night and only in the 50's in the day. YES - that's very cold for us when we're used to 70-90 degree weather. January is my hibernation month, it's too cold to do much of anything except try to stay warm. There is no way I would have taken on a painting project in the cold, you're very brave!

The caravan is your home for however long it takes.....so making it more homey is a no brainer. I think it looks so much better.
