I would recommend not painting the windowsills white as they will get dingy over time, being a more horizontal surface. The sage green sounds lovely, and white or some variation of it in other areas would be a nice contrast.💚💚💚
Sage green is a calming, cozy, welcoming color. In two different house that we have lived in, the room that was painted sage, sea foam green, got the most compliments.
I totally agree with your daughter! Sage green would be beautiful! ❤❤ Or simply go with some kind of cream colour...... Looking forward to see how it turns out!!! Also looking forward to see more of the horses!!! ❤❤
I'm gonna go with Kayvan and your daughter. The gray is actually beautiful. Sage green or an olive green would absolutely pop. Whichever you choose, it's going to be beautiful.
Please do not paint the window /door sills. Coat them with water shedding solution, this will preserve the patina and surfaces, by all means. The woodwork, window frames and rendered walls should be your choice, you have to live in them (although cream woodwork/ window frames and sage green render will make it fit into the landscape in a restrained and understated way). I am not a computer whiz but taking images of the elevations and manipulating colours will give you an good guide. Keep up the good work.
I was thinking, "what is the complementary color of light gray? That may be a good choice." It turns out that the complementary color of light gray is dark gray.
I love earthy greens and creamy whites for your beautiful stone cottage. When we visited Ireland this summer we saw a gorgeous red vine growing on many of the Trinity College buildings. Great contrast, reds, greens and greys with balancing creams. Y'all are living the dream up there!
Omgosh I laughed so hard with the kinked hose. The look on your face when you sprayed the camera.... I laughed out loud! I have a hose like that. It has a mind of its own! I am so glad you guys are sharing your life with us. I get so much joy out of your videos!
You guys made me chuckle again.."poke all switches at random.." and the drum falling off...yeah reminds me very much of our endavours ;) Glad you didn´t pulled the whole chimney down ;)
Oh how I can sympathize with you over days of dealing with the noise! For over a year during the Covid pandemic we had a neighbor directly across the street that created chainsaw sculptures 😵💫 some days he'd be out there carving wood from sunup until 10 pm with a head lamp on. It was horrendous! There's just no escaping that kind of monotonous noise, then even after the noise stops it's so imprinted on your brain it's like you can still hear it. Now that it's over and done for you it looks like it was well worth it, it all looks amazing! Good luck planting your garlic and choosing colors ❤
Taking your cue from the large coloured stones of the home's exterior (where the grey pipe is mounted) will be the most complimentary. The soft, sage green and/or the copperish tones would enhance the stone work and is sympathetic with the landscape. I'm very much enjoying your show! Carole Saskatchewan, Canada
The cottage looks great after the sandblasting. I would go with some kind of limewash which as far as im aware you can get or create different colours other than white 😊
It really does right! Glad to see the back of the pink puke. We plan to use a silicate paint - which is the "modern" (been around over 100 years), equivalent of a limewash. You should investigate for yours...
Green has always been a favourite and hence why I am a landscape photographer. My lounge is willow green and everything in it blends well, plus it is a warm colour.
I love the idea of the white render with black trim. But i just love those combos on houses. the black and white would help the stone pop but still allow the house to feel like it belongs.
Interesting, thanks! We painted our whole enclosing garden wall in our previous home matt black - really enjoyed it. Bit of a contemporary feeling palate for the main cottage choice though?
I'm off sage green. Looking above the right side of Cory's head, towards the double pipe, I see some beautiful burnt sienna tones in the stone. It could go toward brown to give you earthy and natural, or toward terracotta orange for a more vibrant look.
I like white/cream and sage for the trim. There’s grey in the stone so everyone could get their color. The cream and sage will soften it. All grey will feel dreary and cold.
Team Kayvan. light grey, looks more indigenous to the surroundings, and the original stone. Making the cottage look much more traditional. Putting pops of colour should be kept for the doors, and guttering wood, not the actual masonry . It can always be rethought at a later date. Your daughter’s idea, for the sage/ mizzle green, would look good for the window frames. I believe you can get them sprayed. x
No, no, no more grey...too drab. You want your beautiful cottage to be seen, not disappear. Just subtle not garish. Kayvan, your talent is in the building, but please leave the decor to the ladies of the family 😉. I vote for beige or cream with sage green. Shall I text some inspo pics?!😊
If you'll note, the stones are not just gray. There are also shades of brown, which blends into the countryside without being so somber as plain gray. I would find a nice shade of "brown." There are so many to choose from, many of which are right there in the stones, the earth, and the trees. You may find two shades: one for the wall and one for the trim. I also like the idea of the "sage" green or possibly "olive" just for a little contrast.
Concur that gray is good with sage green as an accent color. That being said, whatever you all decide is okay. Love the ponies and so enjoying following your adventure in renovating your cottage! 😊
I was going to say a light Sage Green would really compliment the stone before your comments made that your daughter said Sage Green! Great vlogs by the way, I really enjoy you laughter and positivity 😊
A green similar to F&B’s Card Room Green for the large areas and a gorgeous iron black for the accents like your window sills, facia boards under your gutters, and rooflines would look so handsome and clean as well as coordinate with the surrounding landscape.
The current turquoise paint, change it to sage green or forest green? The gray exterior wall, painting it gray may help in the future, that you will not have to repaint all the time, when paint popps off! Best of LUCK!
Magnolia and white trim is always attractive, watch those chickens with the cold snap coming, foxes can be very determined. Well done on all the work. Adrian.
I actually like the gray, but perhaps with a cream or beige undertone, then a slightly dark sage green for the trim. (I did a search for Irish house colors, and Holy Cow! I'm still seeing spots in my eyes!)
Well, I must be rare because I absolutely love the turquoise. It's part of the charm. However, if you must paint the color, sage would definitely go beautifully with natures setting. Looking so good you two.
I agree with Kayvan on the exterior walls and window sills rendered in a (medium) Grey. The window frames and door in sage green. The red and brown tones in the stonework will standout enough on their own without adding a third colour to the exterior. Save your whites and cremes for inside where they'll brighten and enlarge the space and you'll enjoy the lightness and brightness on a rainy Irish winter day. Or ignore me completely as I'm an envious fan in Calgary, Alberta, Canada who wishes I could live in a stone cottage too!
I once drove one of those Genie Lifts, I was working at the Little Debbie snack cake plant. It was late on a Saturday night so a co-worker and I decided to test and make sure our harnesses were in good working order. Ha she stood there watching me as I started to swing her, then I put her down made me to nervous. lol it was a great time in my life.
With white It will create a cool harsh look next to the stone and a cream color will blend it better. - it is warmer. Not a yellow cream but one that has brown/golden like your stones. A soft color and still bright and clean looking. Consider a nice vibrant burgundy color or darker sage green for trim and sills. I think either would look lovely! Maybe sage with a burgundy wine door! I love contrast with an unexpected pop!
It would be nice if you showed a bit more of your renovation. I do enjoy the banter between you guys. Sage green would probably blend in with your surroundings. Thanks for sharing. Take care and stay safe.😊
Your stones have colours in them you can choose from, or if you were to choose another colour, you can put a sample against your stones to see the effects. White trim is nice because it clean and you can maintain and easily repaint later on without worrying about colour matching.
You make me smile and chuckle. Well, if you needed sand for your garden, you sure got some now. Chuckle. Color: While I was thinking of what color to paint our home years back, I recognized something very important. While driving around, what was it about some homes that I would say wow about. They had not just two colors but three. You obviously have gray, and you said probably white, and implied you could color it? I would suggest maybe not so stark a white, or pure white, but maybe a softer white would be my choice. I do love the sage green as a third color. It is always a pleasing color. It also is a calming, healing and natural color. It will go with anything you put inside due to it being like nature. It would not be a harsh contrast color like pink or turquoise is. You could take a black and white picture of your home and then color it to see what you like. Or use the color samples cut out to fit the gable end. There are sage green colors that have a grayish undertone to them as well, meaning they would look great next to all those gray colors. You could also pick a darker shade of sage to use as the front door to define it. Sage is a timeless color and will contrast with Any flower colors you plant next to it. Personally, I wouldn't pick a blueish or yellowish undertone sage. Watch out for those undertones, they show up big time when you paint big surfaces, but not in the little chip sample as easily. Well, that's my vote. I'm so excited for you and can't wait to see what you do. Thanks for making my day brighter.
Sage green sounds lovely on the large parts with some dark grey accents, trim and window sills with white doors. Everyone gets a color on the house! It’s looking great. I have experienced the hose issues, just when you get to the end of your rope [hose] is when it will kink. The struggle is SO real.
There's so many shades of every color! And the meanings of colors are very interesting as well. Sage green is very pretty. It has gray undertones. A laurel green would have a little more pop but still be muted. You are getting to the fun part! Also, in defense of pink... most any color ( in my opinion) is better if it's subtle. And a quiet shade of pink can add a bit of whimsy and a happy feeling in small amounts. Anyway,no matter what the rest of us say...please go with what you like. I think you have good taste.
I see a dark slate blue/grey. Its opposite on the color wheel for the burnt orangeish stone and similar to the grey stones. The white around the windows would pop.
Cheers guys, it's looking well. I think a cream / ivory is nicer than white for the window sills. I did mine that colour and it looks amazingly clean, especially in drab weather compared to my neighbours white window sills which looks dirty in comparison. I think your beautiful is correct with the sage green or a mustard / sunburst colour!??? Can't wait to see the interior once you start, it will be ever sooooo exciting, and I can't wait. Love and hugs from the west of Ireland xx
So light colours will stand out more than the stone and I think what you both want is a colour that blends with the landscape whilst enhancing the stonework because it’s clear you both really love the stonework of the cottage. So I think a slightly darker complimentary colour -like a latte charcoal blend would look really good and compliment and actually allow the stonework to emerge into the landscape👍🏻😊
you can colour the render you are using for cracks by using powdered oxide in small quantities it comes in reds yellows through to black, can mix with any mortar mix to match existing stonework.
I would just play with the color on the fascia and just leave painted white for now until you fully renovate, including the windowsills. The gray doesn’t bother me white it brightens everything up. Most of the houses that are brightly painted are usually in towns outside of Dublin. The pubs can be beautiful decorated in in Dublin. I do love the colorful doors of Dublins Georgian townhouses. The natural stone and the white just fits the countryside
i think any of the farrow and ball sage or country greens would look stunning, you could go lighter and it is in line with natures colours. those shades would look stunning against each changing season definitely match or pain the windows there's loads of chic cottage inspo
Look at the tones in the stone and bring one of them out, there are shades of brown and burnt umber in there to see once the dust is washed off. Good luck !
You can have the best of both choices. Greys are cool, but can look cold, so you could go for a grayish paint that has warm tones in it. Looking at the stones of the wall behind your heads as you discussed this, there are some lovely warm but subtle greenish and terracotta tones, which would tie in with the house and surroundings,. You could go for a neutral off-white with warmish grey-green tones on the walls and picks up a darker green grey for the trim.
If u r using a lime plaster, you can color it using a blend of water, lime, and masons stain. Better than paint, because its breathable, so the plaster can dry out. Learned this on strawbale house.
You have some beautiful stones in your walls. Have you considered using a color that would really make those stones pop. I think it would make your home naturally beautiful.
I had horses for years and wanted to tell you how I haltered them easily. Just bring the bucket of oats or apple treats to them and have your lead rope attached to your halter. After you get them eating, a bit, with one arm put the lead rope over their neck and they will think you have control, then gently put the halter on their nose and lift up and buckle around the head. Then you can lead them with the lead rope I've had ponies who think they have the upper hand so you need to lunge them til they are tired - that's making them run a bit to establish your dominance. They are pack animals so you want to build confidence being the leader of the pack. I've been able to have them come right up and be altered. Look at Clinton Anderson beginner videos. It helps to have confidence with horses. They know when they have the upper hand. You can lunge a horse without ever touching them with a whip or rope. Hope that helps.

Cream and sage are my vote!
I think a cream or off white and pale sage would look great!
I would recommend not painting the windowsills white as they will get dingy over time, being a more horizontal surface. The sage green sounds lovely, and white or some variation of it in other areas would be a nice contrast.💚💚💚
The great thing with technology you can take a pic of cottage and try out paint colours then make your choice
I think a sage green with a soft cream paintwork and windowsills
I’d go for a greenish grey, a transition between stone walls and green trees/grass.
I'm gonna go with Kayvan and your daughter. The gray is actually beautiful. Sage green or an olive green would absolutely pop. Whichever you choose, it's going to be beautiful.
You could do sage green walls with white or soft lemon trim. Oh, and leave the stone walls the natural stone. Just doing accent walls of color.
Really enjoy watching your progress. Have a blessed week.
Please do not paint the window /door sills. Coat them with water shedding solution, this will preserve the patina and surfaces, by all means. I agree, just a waterproofing would look best with the beautiful stones in the walls
I say stay away from the snazzy and go with a blending with nature tone. I am so glad I found your channel, you guys are so adorable.
Yes simple is best and it won’t date.👍🏼
Sage green and creamy white would be great accent colors outside.
I think the grey blends so well with the stone. Looks very natural.
It will start to look nasty after a couple or years though.
I was thinking, "what is the complementary color of light gray? That may be a good choice."
It turns out that the complementary color of light gray is dark gray.

complementary with an ' E ' not complimentary with an ' i ' two different words

I am amazed at the sand blaster never saw one at work. and surprising how smooth it leaves the walls.
Love the sage green idea.
A matte black would compliment the natural grey stone. A grey pulled from one of the grey stones could look good on the sills and trim.
Or complement.
Interesting, thanks! We painted our whole enclosing garden wall in our previous home matt black - really enjoyed it. Bit of a contemporary feeling palate for the main cottage choice though?
sage and cream sounds great
Love the green and white, very classic!
I'm off sage green. Looking above the right side of Cory's head, towards the double pipe, I see some beautiful burnt sienna tones in the stone. It could go toward brown to give you earthy and natural, or toward terracotta orange for a more vibrant look.
Looks like a whole new house after the sandblasting!
Wow!! I never realized what a difference sand blasting can make!!! It is all so fabulous!!
Right!
Charcoal windows might give a nice contrast , with off-white walls
I am throwing in a third color. I love the warm color of the stones that are brown. Take it as you will.
Your daughter's color suggestions is a real cool color .
I agree. Ivory & Sage.
Team Kayvan here. Keep it neutral so that the stone is the focus
100%
Sage green would be pretty.❤
Wow, what a transformation! The natural stone looks great! A pop of sage green as an accent colour would be beautiful.
I like white/cream and sage for the trim. There’s grey in the stone so everyone could get their color. The cream and sage will soften it. All grey will feel dreary and cold.
Team Kavan, dark slatey grey and maybe dark forest green to incorporate your daughter’s idea. Love the updates and the kinky hose 😂
I believe you can get them sprayed. x
Love the look of the natural stone. Gun metal grey.. forest green... Team Kayvan.. :)
No, no, no more grey...too drab. You want your beautiful cottage to be seen, not disappear. Just subtle not garish. Kayvan, your talent is in the building, but please leave the decor to the ladies of the family 😉. I vote for beige or cream with sage green. Shall I text some inspo pics?!😊
i'm a design school graduate and disagree. i prefer the grey idea
I like the pallet of a warm medium grey for the walls, chimneys, etc. with white window sills and eaves and a barn red door.
palette
If you'll note, the stones are not just gray. There are also shades of brown, which blends into the countryside without being so somber as plain gray. I would find a nice shade of "brown." Concur that gray is good with sage green as an accent color. That being said, whatever you all decide is okay. Love the ponies and so enjoying following your adventure in renovating your cottage! 😊
A pony and trap is very Irish, and you already have the ponies - so Hillary, here you go!
I was going to say a light Sage Green would really compliment the stone before your comments made that your daughter said Sage Green! Great vlogs by the way, I really enjoy you laughter and positivity 😊
I vote for white and some shade of green for the sills.
Adrian.
Well my two cents which I never comment but….. I love the natural look of the house.
Thank you for commenting, we appreciate you.
Cream or white would really bring out the lovely colours in the stone
Team Kayvan for sure. A darker tone of one of the lighter stone colors in the outside walls.
Thank you !
Black or very dark grey. Cool modern twist for the win!
+1 on that, definitely go darker to emphasise the stonework 😊
not personally a fan of dark colours but it does sound very cool.
if it were me i'd do white and light grey for a scandi look and maybe a bit of lemon yellow
I like the grey, but a gunmetal green would look nice I think.
👍
I agree with Kayvan on the exterior walls and window sills rendered in a (medium) Grey. The window frames and door in sage green. The red and brown tones in the stonework will standout enough on their own without adding a third colour to the exterior. Save your whites and cremes for inside where they'll brighten and enlarge the space and you'll enjoy the lightness and brightness on a rainy Irish winter day. Or ignore me completely as I'm an envious fan in Calgary, Alberta, Canada who wishes I could live in a stone cottage too!
Calgary - woot! Great zoo... Thanks for the suggestions 👍
I think white and a dark grey or black trim, with natural wood looks beautiful
When I look at the stone I see some of the stones have a brownish tone. I think a light brown with cream trim would be lovely.
I personally would stay classic. White walls black trim
Shades of green. A sunflower yellow. I like the idea of a pop of color use wild flower colors
I’d use a nice light to medium taupe. It would complement all the natural stone colors and the sage green on the windows would be great with it too.
I was also thinking a sage green would blend the cottage in beautifully.
I once drove one of those Genie Lifts, I was working at the Little Debbie snack cake plant. It was late on a Saturday night so a co-worker and I decided to test and make sure our harnesses were in good working order. Great fun those machines, they can feel a little nerve wracking though to use though for sure!
Im with the kiddo, sage green is a beautiful warm colour
My first idea was a light greenish grey, yes, sage green not being too green.
I'd go white, with antricite grey windowsills
Nice!
I think a light spring green would contrast nicely with the deep green of all the foliage.
You definitely did the right thing sandblasting….do it right do it once ❤
Grey render with sage green paintwork on the windows and doors etc
I think any colour of green that will
Look great with your stone would be beautiful. Either white or a grey for the windows and the sills.
Sage green seems like it would be nice. It already looks so much better without the pink!!😊
Your stones have colours in them you can choose from, or if you were to choose another colour, you can put a sample against your stones to see the effects. White trim is nice because it clean and you can maintain and easily repaint later on without worrying about colour matching.
Sage green and a creamy white sounds beautiful 💚💚💚
I agree with your daughter Sage Green would be beautiful, especially if you add a little touch of white and it keeps it with the landscape
👍
Agreed - sage or muted green. Peaceful and looks great with gray!
👍

A lovely sage green to fit in with the greenery around the property would be nice . Cheers Sharyn and Rosie 🇳🇿
Hey Sharyn & Rosie, thank you!
Colourwise, I think a Sage green would look stunning against the stone on the cottage.
😂😂 Should have watched more before I posted that comment. Your daughter has impeccable taste 😂
you can colour the render you are using for cracks by using powdered oxide in small quantities it comes in reds yellows through to black, can mix with any mortar mix to match existing stonework.
So much fun watching your progress. You’re doing an amazing job, it will be gorgeous when finished!
Look at the tones in the stone and bring one of them out, there are shades of brown and burnt umber in there to see once the dust is washed off. Good luck !
Thank you 👍
You can have the best of both choices.
Nice! Thank you
sage and cream seem like a lovely combination.
You have some beautiful stones in your walls. Have you considered using a color that would really make those stones pop. I think it would make your home naturally beautiful.
Nice !
Can't wait to see some actual work and fixing being done. Well done guys...
The sand blasting looks awesome. Curious to see what colours you go with. I’m sure you two comedians will come up with something great!
