I have only done a couple of long walks, with my old 40l rucksack which was completely crap in the rain, (I found a lake inside it when I opened it). I was thinking of either the 65l atmost ag or the lt version this time, but couldnt decide on which one to get. You have now made the decision for me. Its the LT version that I wil be getting. Thanks again.

Why did Osprey replace all of the heavy duty plastic buckles with much flimsier buckles on their new packs? I just bought an Osprey Atmos AG 50 at REI for $315 (July 2024). I like the pack, but what is the advantage of the flimsy plastic buckles? Gregory still uses the heavy duty plastic. The weight difference couldn't be more than an ounce; did they really save lots of money? Also Osprey replaced the strong elastic cords that hold the hiking poles (as shown in your video) with much flimsier cords that will break after a few years. I've had an Osprey Stratos 36 and my wife has had a Sirrus 24 for ten years. They are great packs (and they both came with built in rain covers). Why the quality downgrade on the new Osprey packs? Did this happen after the company founder sold to Helen of Troy in 2021?

I bought the Men's Atom hoody in a size small (I'm 5'7", 140 lbs) and it's disappointing compared to my Wife's Atom hoody from 5 years ago (named the Atom LT hoody at the time). I noticed instantly the material felt thinner and cheaper. The fit of the new Atom is also very boxy and I would not consider it "fitted" at all. I have an older Beta shell in size XS which I find can be tight in some spots so I ordered the Atom in size S, which turned out to be quite roomy. I definitely could have fit an XS and it still probably wouldn't be "fitted". The fit of Arc'teryx overall seems to have become boxier which is quite disappointing. I used to be a big fan of Arc'teryx gear but will have to reconsider ordering any more gear from them due to their decline in quality, unpredictable sizing and fit, and poor customer service.

Thx for all the reviews on the new Beta, Beta SL, Beta ARs, I couldn't find any other useful reviews on the new 2024 models. It's really nice to hear about the length, this helps me a tonne. I thought the AR might be nicer than the SL because of the durability and improved hood, but it seems that the hood is actually not that nice and the length is so short. Not good for me :) 185cm.. Great review, thanks! It's funny though, here in Sweden the Canadian Goose jackets are (or atleast were) considered to be THE premium winter jacket brand. Fjällräven has obviously had a great marketing campaign internationally to reach this brand recognition. They are also quite popular here in Sweden, although they're at least as expensive here as they seem to be in Canada. When us swedes that are now in our middle age we're growing up in the early '80's, pretty much everyone had a Fjällräven backpack to school (the model called Kånken) and it was not at all considered as premium as they are now. I'd say at least three out of four kids came to school in a Fjällräven Kånken (perhaps it was not as popular in southern Sweden as it were in the north, though. Fjällräven is made in Örnsköldsvik, a northern city) Keep up the good work!

I just tried this jacket on in the store and quite liked it for the features. I didn't love the fit of my body (tall, slender but curvy female medium build), and tend to wear really oversized garments, of what would be considered the "correct" size for me and actually found the best size was the men's XL. At this size, it looked very fashionable. The sleeves however were VERY long, as you mention, but you can use the velcro at the wrists and have a sort of ruched effect where the fabric gathers. It's not the look for everyone, but it worked for me. However, I have two questions: is there a comparable lightweight jacket with similar features at a lower pricepoint that you would recommend? AND: can you recommend a good resource for learning about how and when to re-proof a water resistant jacket after wear? Thanks so much!

    • @leeraewi

I prefer the Atom SL . The LT is too warm for me as active layer for 3 seasons

My main question is; if the revised beta has a 80d construction throughout, wouldn’t that make it more durable against general wear and outdoor use compared to the AR’s 40/80?

Part of it has to do with the Goretex membrane. There is more to the durability than just the face fabric.
