I've always been quite skeptical about hub motor e-bikes. While it's true that they come equipped with very powerful motors, they often feel disconnected from the rest of the bicycle's system. This separation can impact the overall riding experience, making it feel less integrated and cohesive. The motor’s power doesn’t always translate seamlessly into a natural pedaling rhythm, which can be a significant drawback for riders looking for a more unified biking experience. Additionally, the weight distribution in hub motor e-bikes can sometimes be less balanced, affecting handling and maneuverability. These factors make me cautious about embracing hub motor e-bikes fully.

I say this not being a fan at all of these cheap generic rear hub ebikes. But however they F'd up their chain and derailer it has nothing to do with the hub motor. A rear hub does not utilizize the drive train at all. That's only on a mid drive.

in CO we have $450 off the price due to govt program. Too bad all the shops are marking up the bikes 25%. I'm going to stick with pedal bikes for now. I did enjoy the test ride though. Like any other electric vehicle they seem a bit disposable.

I keep all of my lawnmower and lawn tools lithium batteries in a fire resistant box even though they are all UL Listed. Wouldn't have a potential 2000 degree blowtorch EV in my garage. Probably getting a Ebike soon and will store the batteries the same way.

I do appreciate the video. But I believe the aventons come from the same place as the bike that you were talking about. I know some of them have or at least had the Torney derailer. So I am sorry, but I find it a bit disingenuous that you’re talking trash on the online direct to consumers bikes. Yet you are selling a brand that still does a lot of that and it’s in the same category as a lot of the ones you’re talking about. I am not trying to defend the online bikes. I cannot say they are in the same category as some of the other quality ebikes out there. And when I see them selling what they call an E mountain bike. People seem to think they are getting something equivalent to a Trek rail 9.8 or a Husqvarna e mountain bike or something like that. Nothing could be farther from the truth. They are not in the same category. Heck they’re not even in the same ball game. But some of these online bikes do have a place as a doorway for somebody to get involved. Let’s just remember that that is what they are and nothing more.

Lectric ebikes are made in Arizona. Not China. Carry on..

1000 watts on a Tourney derailleur 😂 …. like putting a speedboat motor on a canoe …. I’d be afraid to stick my fingers near that chain with that sketchy hub motor and battery ready to blast off.

I think this bike looks like cheap shit. But.... that 1000 watts does not go through the drive train at all. The hub powers the wheel direct. You could fully remove the chain and casette, ghost pedal and the motor would still propel the bike.

Charge $150/hour. People will stop bringing you disposable e-bikes quickly.
