Another great vlog ladies. Well explained and something I’d like to give a try
You should! Nice to see you commenting Roy!!
I also took my (now dear departed) Thoroughbred barefoot (mostly because of the cost of shoes) and he managed without boots but I had to be picky about the ground he worked on. He retired young but spent the rest of his life barefoot. It can really help and hopefully it helps Insey too.
She has thrush in the central sulcus of the frog. I find using 25% tea tree oil on damp cotton wool daily will help get rid of the thrush and the frog will improve. Make sure to clean out the whole crack in the frog of thrush and get the teatree right in there.
I have had a foot podiatrist and farrier within last two weeks and neither have mentioned that but it’s an easy fix so worth a go as I want it to improve
@eventingjourney232 I am not a farrier but have been doing barefoot feet for over a decade. I have 5 horses that are all barefoot and have transitioned others to barefoot. It's worth trying for your horse. One of my Thoroughbreds has high/low syndrome in his front feet like yours, he always eats with the high foot back. His muscle development in his shoulders was different because of it when I got him. He has evened up now but it will probably never be exact. From your photo, it looks obvious that there is thrush in the frog but if not, treating for it can't harm her. Good luck with your barefoot journey.
It's deep as it's split the heel and can be painful. I fixed the same on my horse with Hedgewitch sole saviour which is excellent, it's liquid so you can get it into the crack, pack in a bit of cotton wool carefully with the edge of a hoof pick and then out some more Hedgewitch on. I top it off with red horse field paste which is thick clay. Repeat every few days. I was also feeding protein powder and on an old horse I think this helped the hoof repair.
Great vlog with lots of information and explanations thanks! Also really nice to see both your nosebands are not cranked tight on your horses like I see on other channels.
How can you get softness in the jaw and true connection if you jam their mouths shut? All of them go in just a cavesson and snaffle with Robbie getting a flexible rubber Pelham for jumping just to help him with his balance. I hope one day he will go back to a snaffle again when he has the balance.
The boots look very interesting, thanks for showing us! The doing everything on one rein has been driving me crazy too! I grew up with a 20x40m arena to jump in and we made a plan to fit whatever we needed to in there to go off both reins. It made me very good at turning up the centreline with lots of energy, going straight after landing and doing a very sharp, balanced turn. I ended up winning speed classes without even trying to go fast because I learned how to turn and didn't waste time doing long, straight lines into everything!
It’s a bad habit especially as worst case you build reversible jumps so then you can go both ways up one line.
Very interesting and informative. I love your sense of humour ❤
Thanks I think doing this for a bit now we have got better at just being ourselves as a bit more comfortable with it all now
Love scoot Boots. Expensive but pay for themselves over time. Fab vlog as aways ☘️☘️☘️🐎🐎🐎☘️☘️☘️
So expensive! I think I have worked out we have a £60 saving on shoes and won’t be shod for 5 months so £300 so 75% of the boots paid off this year on savings.
Princess sniffles 😂
🤧
Great to watch. My mare is fizzy like yours in winter and am not nearly as skilled a rider as you so it can all go to pot. Good learning video, thank you
I just have to plan exercises and then be strict with myself. I love that she is having a lovely time and enjoying herself but I then need to make sure the training is good.
Omg I love that tail action of Incey! Like Stroller!
I have been hit on my hat with it before when being particularly over the top!
I’m just about to order these for my three year old so this was great info!
They are great and I did get the snazzy colours added.
Good morning from Australia 🌏🦘. Just arrived at work and will have to watch the video properly tonight. Thanks for posting a grid work video.
Enjoy!
The new shoes are very snazzy! Incey unleashing her inner Ryan's Son over the jumps! 😂
She was pretty pleased to be jumping but she is much more settled this year which is great for my back!
I have been using scoot boots on my Arabian for three years now. I absolutely love them. They are the easiest boots I’ve ever found to put on andtake off. And they only need hosing to clean them off. The mud straps take a little getting used to, but once you’re used to them, you will love them. Watch one of the latest videos that shows you how to heat and stretch the mud boot casing. It’s a game changer. Makes them so much easier to put on.
That’s really helpful - thanks. So far they are super easy but haven’t really gone off roading for a big test yet
I do love how you explain things. I find my self watching vlogs more that do explain things as you learn and that is why I enjoy them. Great exercises!
We try hard to explain our thought process. Also having constant eyes on the ground from each other is very useful
Have you ever had Incey’s back looked at? Or her ovaries scanned? Her stiffness behind occasionally when jumping and when she throws a little buck after a bigger effort, reminds me of my mare before she was diagnosed with soft tissue swelling in her lumbar vertebrae. A few rounds of acupuncture and adjustments sorted her out and we were able to stop the regumate. She’d been on it almost continuously since she was 5, and at that point it was causing pain in her ovaries as well. Apparently a side effect of long term usage. Turns out the mareish behavior was her back. A year regumate free now and a protocol of regular acupuncture and chiropractic adjustment with Chinese herbs and she’s going from strength to strength. This is not any kind of judgement just noticed similar symptoms to my mare, who does happen to be a fiesty red mare and I feel sometimes these symptoms can be overlooked cuz mares get such a bad rap. I can’t tell you the number of pros who wrote her off blaming mareish behavior. Much love and respect, you are both amazing!
She is very sensitive to adrenaline so it takes her a few events to settle and be a bit more laid back about it all. She finds it all pretty exciting. She settles the more events she does. She is a funny horse - very sensitive and happiest with 24/7 turnout which is a struggle with where we live until weather improves as low lying and wet. She has had ulcers so is managed for those as well.
It was such a bummer, but love how you all handle it! I so appreciate it🥴
Thank you!!
What a good boy, we are always learning! Jancis you should have more confidence, you do really well😁
Love the look of the tails, your tests are looking better and better! Unlucky poles but geez she is such a scopey jumper and you guys have such a great partnership, that gets better all the time! Awesome job! What camera do you guys use?
Sony zv1 but an old one
@@eventingjourney232Thank you, I have a GoPro and my phone, was looking for something a little easier to use day to day😁. Getting ideas!
You guys did so awesome!! Congratulations!!! She is such an amazing XC horse!!
What an amazing place!! Love going on horse event vacations with my besties😃
Thank you for sharing! Those huge trakehner’s always freak me out, but man they usually ride great😳
Legend!!! Dressage, frustrating, as was the pole but XC, that was awesome!
What a gem! Such a credit to your program.
Beautiful test and what great jump rounds!!! So fun to watch everything come together 😃
Thank you 🤗
Wow! That was unexpected!! What an epic mare. Love watching these videos and seeing the improvements💕.
Loved this😁🎉
This was so fun to watch! Jancis way to go! Lucy, way to look out for your pony, isn’t that just the way with dressage, that is why it is just so frustrating 😂😂
This lesson was so interesting!
Thanks
I love getting each of your thoughts after these lessons!
I like watching dressage with commentary.. As I love to hear how people feel through there test vs how it was marked. What a great event, and really love how you look at the sport and your partnership with your horses❤️. So sorry about your loss, your ethics are awesome to me!
Thanks
OMG Eris and the Shetland 😂❤️ Weather! What a pain!!! Nice job Jancise😁
This was so fun to watch!
Great Vlog! That was a tough exercise. Thank you for sharing your issue and the learning process..
Nice to hear you making it without having a lot of money. I do believe hard work does pay of more than we know especially in the horse world.. Love that you talk about it. Nice job with both horses. Dressage is not my favorite either but boy it makes a difference in the other phases.. Learning to enjoy it a bit more..LOL!
It’s a lot of who you know. Both of us are quite well connected and have been given some nice horses along the way as breeders were older and looking for riders or happened to find a little diamond. I don’t think we talk about privilege enough in horses either. Both of us were not inner city kids so had access to horses when young. It all makes a difference.
Great lesson! Interesting to watch! Horses can always find a way.. Glad he healed up from this!
What a good boy! Great method!!
Thank you!
When a horse has an extended time off, a couple of month, due to injury, but is 100% and ready to go. What are the steps you all use to bring them back.. and the time frame? I love how you both manage your horses..
Tricky to advise without knowing all the background but if not just been on box rest and it’s less than 3 months would be around 1 week of just walk and then building up slowly. You can never go wrong with just taking your time on building muscle and fitness. We both do a lot of slow hillwork in walk and trot for the cardio.
@@eventingjourney232 That is what I was kind of thinking just wanted to see if it aligned.. Love the pole work, I do it in hand with the ponies.. LOL!
You should totally to that with your mighty Shetland.. She is so cute!!!!
Sadly I rarely have enough time to do her properly. I keep saying one day….
I have been watching some of your older vlogs as I just admire your work ethic and how you go about your training. With a full time job how long are you working the horses each day/week?
Winter - we accept that they will only do 3 days a week. So hence they don’t get massive holidays they tend to get a month at most. From Feb you can pretty much ride after work so they will do 5/6 days a week. I (Lucy) start work at 7:30am and finish at 4pm on whole which also helps with horses. I can also move my day around and start work later and finish later to ride which I tend to do in Jan/Feb on the days I work at home.
@@eventingjourney232 I think you all get similar weather to us, that is what I try to do too. My schedule is a lot like yours, makes me feel good to hear the 3 days a week during the winter..
I love your vlogs and your friendship!! I am trying to figure out vlogging as well but I do like the more realistic ones more😁. Robbie is doing great!
If you get the answer to vlogging do let us know! The hardest thing for us is definitely videoing. Actual eventing is usually ok as rarely go by ourselves. The rest is a lot harder especially if Jancis and I are at the same time. Our friends are used to the request but some are better than others!
@@eventingjourney232 Yeah the struggle is real! i will share any tips I find that help:)
