Ok I love Robbie ❤. Insy is looking cracking. Everyone needs a Jancis. Lucy you're in a dip. Once we know we're in a dip, we're usually on the journey out of it. Good luck 🤞
She's looking amazing and even though it wasn't always perfect you still managed some brilliant riding. You're more than capable so good luck and have fun!
Hello from Australia. Here is is a beautiful sunny, still, spring day. Over there you have ideal weather for the silly horse to appear - one ear sideways, danger at every turn so the horses behaved very well. Your riding teacher sounds like one I had, not big on praise, totally shocked when I rode a passable dressage test. When he was away showing hacks I had the children's teacher and I came away feeling so much happier!
It’s always the brain which lets us down. I am better than I used to be thanks to loads of work on it over last few years. I am much better competing than training
@@eventingjourney232 Yeah I think I'm the same better out than training but my brain has let me down a lot lately which sadly has resulted in a massive confidence crash. I haven't had a chance to catch up on the Bicton vlog if it's up but will get there soon - hope all went good for the event!
I have read an awful lot of books and one of the best was Bounce. It made me realise that actually I never going to be as good as I want to be and we get too sucked in by social media showing the good especially with pros. They have a lot riding on it so they can’t really show the bad! I also listen to a lot of podcasts and the High Performance one is great. I now have a thing where if I am feeling really bad I say to myself if I just jump the 1st fence I have won. I have turned up and showed up and given it a go and if I just jump one fence and pull up that’s my victory. If I jump two fences then I have done better than I expected and exceeded my own expectations. If I don’t want to go further I can stop. Nobody is putting any pressure on me. I also had help, doing TFT which has been transformative with keeping me calm and focused when there is often a lot of noise going on. Good trainers help a lot but mostly deciding what for that day is a big step forward and making it really simple helps me.
I found this so helpful to watch - I can be so guilty of the same but then tell myself it makes me a bad rider. I always watch your vlogs and think how capable you are so it's nice to see it effects others too (and doesn't make you a bad rider, so maybe I should be kinder to myself!). Thank you for sharing
I am a control freak perfectionist. I also have a very set idea of feel and when you are riding well the feel is great. When it’s not going well, you know and then I tend to spiral. Practice tends to work for me and if I could jump a lot more to get it back but that’s impossible as all my jumps are packed up and weather has been a swine. You can only do what you can do and I tend to step up competing as the homework has been done it’s just a blip on the day.
Thank you for sharing the ups and the downs! You are more than capable but these types of lessons are soooo hard! You guys really do have a great partnership!!! Good luck at Bichton🍀. Gallops were so fun to watch, Robbie is a rockstar😁
Break down to break through. Never be afraid to face some discomfort because it’s there we can dig out the bits not working. Just go enjoy your horse and enjoy your time. No pressure just the fun aspect. Because when we over control we lose the joy.
I also think you can just have a bad day. I have had it before events, you want to do well, you want things to go well and then you over think. Hence I am not panicking
I sincerely hope you have a good run at Bicton to finish the season 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻Even if you don’t get to qualify for Badminton, just a good positive performance to counter the recent rubbish time you’ve been having of late. Good luck!
Really good luck, try not to beat yourself up when things don't go to plan schooling/lesson wise my mare is just the same can't be bothered with arena eventing just wants to get on with the job on course, Incy is a brilliant mare and you ride her so well, have fun at Bicton and I am there Saturday so will cheer you on, you have got this 👍 love Jancis, so great to have a friend who is totally in your corner, but also gives you fantastic support as you do her X
@@eventingjourney232 you will be fine, nerves are a good thing, apparently! I qualified but my mare has had to have some time out this summer and is not fit enough so am interested to see what its all about, again really good luck and will definitely wave but will try not to put you off😂 love a devil mare, they are the best 😍
I think that the three day event at Bicton would be epic if that were your goal. If you just want to qualify for something else, I think that Bicton might feel like a potential ugh. My current horse almost certainly isn't going to compete because as a hot, reactive headshaker his headgear isn't competition legal for eventing in Australia. Ridiculous but true. We might try a spot of show jumping because it's less of an issue gear wise.
It’s amazing how they are changing. Insey used to wear an eye visor which I used to have to get permission for and now it’s in the rule book. They are getting better at understanding how kit can help some horses
@@eventingjourney232 Sadly, when eventing in Australia he can wear a nose net in the dressage (and not the other phases) but only if you have a letter from your vet. Then the rules about the nose net are so strict, it won't really work on my horse. Luckily you can do pure show jumping with a nose net. We have some silly rules here.
Fab vlog. Fab friendship you two. 💚🐎💚🐎💚🐎💚🐎🇮🇪
Thank you!! 😊

Jancis thought she was being too nice! Lucky you in the sunshine. Feel very envious.
You got this!! Go enjoy the journey, looking forward to the video ! Jancis is a charm !
We both know each other very well and a good 🥾 up the 🍑 for each other
You did fab Lucy - just all in your head. Happens to us all.

Best wishes for Bicton. You know a bad dress rehearsal bodes well for the main event. What ever the result, good luck and enjoy. ❤
Fingers crossed!
Good job, Lucy! You had a good training session with her and got your inner demons out. So now on to Bicten! Good luck you’ll do great!
I hope so 🤞
Thank you for showing the struggles as I also get those annoying days

Good luck for Bicton 😊 Im volunteering there on Saturday - I'll look out for you. Very interesting video it's really cool to see the training.
Thanks for volunteering- you do get fed well at Bicton as volunteered there myself. Definitely say hello.

Dear Lord. No megaphone required there 😱
Good thing we didn’t stick a mic on 😬
