Flying into clouds under visual flight rules (VFR) is one of the top causes of aircraft accidents. Hear our story and learn about the dangers and lessons of flying in poor weather conditions. This video was filmed more than a year ago and has become a great lesson for both of us. Events like this are why we recommend all pilots receive training from CFIIs in actual IMC and receive instrument ra...

You are flying the pattern wrong (and other lessons from foreign pilots)
Переглядів 7607 місяців тому
Is the way you are being taught to fly the best, or safest way you could possibly fly? Are all pilots taught to use checklists, do runups, fly left traffic, and enter downwind at a 45 degree angle? The answer is no. General Aviation rules are different in every country and there must be a reason. We will look at four ways flying in the USA differs from common practices in the East and what we c...

    I like this video because it better prepares me for my CFI mock exam. You know, the one where they wreck you for two or more hours straight just to tell you you're not ready and to come back to do it all over again in 3 weeks after you've forgotten all the information on the mock exam to finally sign me off to take my check ride with a DPE. So wish me luck, I have me 97th mock exam coming up in a few days 😂

    As I’m preparing for my checkride and due to my low written score, I’ve had some tough ground lessons with my instructor that have been a bit demoralizing. This video has actually calmed my nerves a ton as a checkride like this, not to toot my own horn, seems very doable! Plenty of more studying to do of course, but my emotions have thankfully eased a bit haha

    Also, Foreflight has no underscore, it only has a dash. So have no idea where you are getting this information from because I have two ipads with foreflight both do not do this or can add or edit custom waypoints unless you use a complicated way to do it.

  • @user-jh5fm7ci6o
    @user-jh5fm7ci6o 2 місяці тому

    No, it does not do that at all. You must have special version or an older version of Foreflight. They took this feature away.

  • @user-jh5fm7ci6o
    @user-jh5fm7ci6o 2 місяці тому

    You can not rename you waypoints. Again, you can not re-name your waypoints.

  • @user-jh5fm7ci6o
    @user-jh5fm7ci6o 2 місяці тому

    The problem Is you can not name your waypoints and you can not edit them. I Sent an E-mail to Text support at Forelfight and they gave me instructions that does not exit in Foreflight. New pilots and student pilots should only use paper charts.

    You can safely fly with a non-working Turn coordinator for VFR day flight. You have to make sure it's not listed in the AFM as required equipment, Check for an MEL ( most likely will not have an MEL). Check the type certificate. Pretend you fly a Cherokee PA-140. and after checking all of the documents, it is not required or listed. I can than deactivate ( pull the fuse ) and place an inop placard on it. Then put an entry into the aircraft logs books. I can legally fly the aircraft and I would have no issue flying if the airplane. After my flight, I would get the turn coordinator repaired replaced by an approved A&P mechanic. If this is an aircraft I rented, I would inform the flight school of the non-operating instrument and they would do the necessary steps to deactivate it and placard it inop. before I take take off.

    Thanks for your involvement in this video everyone. Several helpful comments have been made regarding both the dry lease discussion and time of useful consciousness. I have pinned a detailed response from a viewer on the issue of the dry lease who I believe has a correct understanding. 14 CFR 91.500 (subpart F) series is specifically written for large and turbine-powered multiengine airplanes and Fractional Ownership programs, which typically does not include flight school and personally owned planes. Despite this, we have done some research and now agree that such an operation is legal as long as the renter and pilot are not the same person. The conclusion in our video is incorrect and will be updated. We apologize for any confusion and are encouraged to see people are still gaining knowledge and passing checkrides thanks to these videos.

    The scenario proposed of the friend renting the aircraft and being the operator exercising operational control is actually okay to conduct. Here's some more information and where to find (some of) the regs covering this: You can provide your pilot services, whether holding out or not (you are allowed to hold out for your "pilot services" only), if you are not the operator and the operator is not being paid to transport the property or passengers you are flying onboard the aircraft. For this scenario, see 91.501(b)(4): "Flights conducted by the operator of an airplane for his personal transportation, or the transportation of his guests when no charge, assessment, or fee is made for the transportation". So long as the operator isn't being paid to have you fly these people, then you can legally perform the flight. There is another reg for this as well (dependent upon holding out or not, but if holding out for "pilot services" only, then you can conduct the flight), but this is one of them. However, the operator could've been paid without you the pilot knowing so that's another interesting twist. For property, see when it's allowed via 91.501(b)(7): "The carriage of property (other than mail) on an airplane operated by a person in the furtherance of a business or employment (other than transportation by air) when the carriage is within the scope of, and incidental to, that business or employment and no charge, assessment, or fee is made for the carriage other than those specified in paragraph (d) of this section;" For this, you can carry such property and be paid to do so, so long as the operator (person who hired you and would be providing the aircraft) is doing so in furtherance of his/her business or employment.
