OKC Thunder Lose Isaiah Hartenstein For Weeks, Who Steps up?
The Oklahoma City Thunder have seen Isaiah Hartenstein go down due to injury during Tuesday's preseason game against the Denver Nuggets. The OKC Thunder will be without Hartenstein for the first five-to-six weeks of the regular season, Rylan Stiles discusses what the Thunder can do now in his place. What if Jaylin Williams and Kenrich Williams can or can not return in time for the season opener? Kawhi Leonard is also sidelined for the LA Clippers, what does that mean for the Thunder? Will Dillon Jones and Ousmane Dieng step up? Should OKC go make another roster move to fill the hole left behind by Hartenstein?

Losing him is potentially worse than we think. It would low key suck that he can never find his way into the team because we win in another way and he ends up being an overpaid benchwarmer like hayward was. But i bet this will be minor and we get him back great.
Go get JaVale McGee
Other than Chet, who would be the backup big man assuming Kenny and JWill are out, does Dieng or DJ step up or something else
Nevermind, I just needed to listen to the podcast for the answers
"The Sky hasn't fallen. Don't be such a pessimist. We might get 2 of our Williams' back soon...Actually IHart & all 3 of our Williams' are out...Ok, now we're totally f**ked"
We need more Williams
@@callumsmith5819 I think Denver just cut a Jaylin Williams didn't they...
@@hestilllives192 we are down on our Jaylen Williams quota
Hopefully Ous can step up as a small ball 5 on our bench
To all of you Thunder fans who think the Giddey/Caruso trade was a great thing you're all about to get a true education on why you don't ever change things when you have a season like they did last year now that Hartenstein will be sitting out for at least 6 weeks. It was an idiotic trade and a massive downgrade in overall talent. Now this is exactly the same team we had last year but it's a true swap between those two players and Hartenstein won't be around to make up the difference. Prepare to be educated.
You're the only one saying this lol. have you seen all the analysts speaking about this team, trades and new personnel? Giddey did not fit since he is ball dominant and Giddey will never be ball dominant (with the thunder) with the other options.
@@maxxjohnson7342 You're about to find out how wrong you are and how wrong they are. The next six weeks will show I'm right dramatically.
P. Giddy is where he’s supposed to be. Not in OKC
@@joeldriver-sp2rgno it won't as Hartenstein getting injured has nothing to do with Caruso and Giddey, it was a good trade for all parties, what we lost with Giddey isn't going to be the difference of winning or losing the games without IHart
Honestly I’m not even worried he’ll only miss about 15 games and luckily it was only a hand injury compared to a knee or ankle injury
The only position we are t deep at, I wouldn’t mind Dillion jones getting some run at backup 5
When we signed Bismack Biyombo last year, some Memphis Grizzlies podcaster described Biyombo as "always the best big man not under contract in the NBA." So I guess we're back here again.
The seasons a marathon not a race! He will be back and ready to work with the squad and find what works for the playoffs :)
I think he broke it stuffing Brauns dunk in the 1st half
No IHart, then Jaylin No Jaylin, then K-Rich No K-Rich, then Dillon Jones Next man up...
Tbh I feel like the Thunder are good enough to stay afloat without iHart. If he comes back In December after extra rest he still has a couple months before ASW to work on his role as a starter. Seemed like a seamless fit when we did see him
Wonder if IHart had the same injury as Jaylen Brunson during the playoffs? Player was back in action before you know it. Otherwise, at least it’s now instead of April. Next man up!
This is my 13th reason
that’s it. they need to go out and just give dwight howard a chance we have nothing to lose but everything to gain with him on the team
Feel better, king
Thank you!
1:50 for injury, yw
He would get hurt a day after I bet them to win 60 games 🙄
Don’t fret about it bud it’s still gonna happen. Only difference is now we are back to the same lineup that got us 1st seed last year with the addition of Caruso
Still better then last year AC in starting line up and not giddy we still better then last year
This Okc team will surprise y’all they will be undefeated waiting on iheart to comeback Carlos Caruso is real. Cason improve we don’t have the same team as last year everyone got better literally
I had the same injury in my knee. Recovery is just not moving the area and allowing the bone to heal. Once it is healed there is no need for recovery. You are good to go as new
Ousmane might be ready to grab the bull by the horns.
So now we are forced to go back to 5 out. A style that got us 57 wins last season.
With above average defender... who will keep other defenses honest at the 3pt line. I think we will be ok lol
But now we are stuck having to play an all defensive player shooting 40% from 3
Basically going back to last year so I mean it hurst and we may lose some games we would have won with Iheart (I’m thinking Denver specifically, joker is just to good to overlook and Iheart would help against him) we should be good tho! Thunder up!!!
Yeah, but we don't have giddy this year.We got someone better
Soooo... this means we're forced to reluctantly drag out a team that was the first seed last year minus their biggest weakness replaced by Alex Caruso and some of our young guys can get some run? Oh no😂
Pretty much, except,... JWill and Kenny Hustle are also out for awhile.
Breaking news :Alex caruso out with an ankle injury,id panic if I was you 😂😂😂
I would'nt be surprised to see this as a chess move by the team. No need for him to play all 82 regular season games. Can spend the first however many weeks learning the team like chet did when injured. Not the same situation, but I'm certainly not worried over any of it.
Well i be damned
Love ya man. I really think this dudes balls dropped every season.
Get the injuries out da way
Unfortunately Hartenstein is out for the first month of the season with a broken hand. Gonna be interesting to see how Mark handles front court rotations if JWill can’t get back on the court soon.
This team is young, but make no mistake, this team is a winner. The first year I wrote for Welcome to Loud City was Durant's last season and Billy Donovan's 1st. Donovan was a 1st year NBA coach and history of successful college coaches transitioning to the NBA wasn't exactly glowing so I began researching him. One of the 1st things I learned was that Billy was in OKC right after the Murray building bombing and experienced how we came together as a family in our darkest hour, so he already had an emotional connection. The next thing I learned was that analytics was fairly new to him and that the name of the young assistant at Florida that sold him on the concept was Mark Daigneault. The best version of the Durant/Westbrook era Thunder was that 1st Donovan team. They should have won it all. They beat possibly Pop's best Spurs team in 6 games. They had the Warriors down 3-1 in the WCF and even Andre Iguodala said, flat out, in an interview after the season that the Thunder were the best team they faced in the playoffs, even better than the Cavaliers who beat the Warriors in the finals. IMO, even though this team isn't as experienced, from top to bottom, this team is better than that 2016 team. Everything is here and it is going to be fun to watch.
Shai doesn't need 30 pts a game get other players involved.
why not he can do that of 11 shots so be it
Hartenstein playmaking from the high post is a fun little wrinkle to mix in with everything else the Thunder can do
Oh my goodness rylan do an ai voice pod we need you for the season
Rylan just cheesing cause he did not have to do any of the bragging😂
62? Try 69!
What do we call this defensive unit? OklahomaGritty
@RyanStiles you absolutely got to change that old background of the city skyline! PLEASE 🙏
Honestly JWill will play where Ouse has been playing at this preseason and will be a much better fit
Bruh we still ain’t good enough to beat the mavs, we need to get Lauri bruh
Bruh I think it’s all dependent upon if JDub or Chet take their game up to a higher level. This roster is better than the mavs already bruh
Lauri isn’t trade eligible for the entire season
@@SpecOpsCM we couldn’t beat a beat up Luka now he got Klah Q AND NAJI that’s od plus Lively and Gaff are going to be better , I just hope Chet and JDub show up or it’s wraps
Okc doesn’t need Lauri as currently constructed. If Klay was that great, the Warriors wouldn’t have let him go. Sure he’ll help out with their shooting some but not significantly. Also the series ended up almost even in total points scored and that’s with their offensive rebounding. That advantage no longer exists with the Mavs with I Hart.
@@jeremianderson4861 bruh Ihart ain’t what y’all think he is I like that we got Ihart but lively is on a diff level 💯 we need Shai to go off off and Chet and JDub to take that leap
They don’t wanna acknowledge the thunder, they’re scared!! 😂😂 I’m playin, it’ll be fun in the west, all these teams are so good
The walk you took with Andrew was awesome and all true. This team has all the ingredients for a historic run. But there's one question you left out, does this team believe they are ready for that run? Not in their heads, because the numbers say so, but in their hearts and souls. I remember the Bad Boys' run, the Bulls run, this current Celtics run. I'm not saying they can't because I truly believe that they will, but sometimes you have to actually see the mountaintop and fall just short to know with your entire being you can beat the mountain.
Yall need to show my boy Cason more love
Agreed, I think he’s gonna play a major role
Chet is a 4! J-Dub is a 3.
Just went to the nuggets game last night. The defense in this team is insane
Yeah, Wallace had about 500 steals
Big lineups take the Thunder to the next level.
I think so. As an avid SGA 3 point critic, I've really enjoyed his growth. He first found confidence in shooting a better %, and now he's confident enough in his % to increase his volume. He also got shown in the playoffs that he could use that increased volume.
Ajay Mitchell is someone to watch. That head fake and drive is special. He has some great creativity around the rim in order to finish with his stature. Hope he gets some run every once in awhile when the season is rolling along.
I doubt Caruso will be a starter. I see him closing games. For a starter, I expect Isiah Joe. The season is 82 games; I think the coaching staff will save Caruso's legs for the playoffs. I see Hartenstein starting as the opponent's lineups dictate.
No way caruso or hartenstein to start depending on the opponent
If there's any major criticism to be had about this off-season, a team of OKC's caliber shouldn't not know what their starting lineup is going to be after a supposedly big off-season. They should have a no-brainer pick to start next to the other 4. You don't want to be flipping lineups based on opponents. It puts too much of the focus on what the opponent is doing when champs usually establish 1 lineup and make opponents try to work around them. Then Joe is only 6'4". They need size at the 4. They can't afford to be running shooting guards across the whole lineup, masquerading as other positions.
Joe is not a starter for a championship level lineup. Not even close.
